Bethesda DLC announcement

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2016 10:04 am

Hells yeah to this announcement. All of these sound great. I might have to start a new computer robot science kind of character and amass a robot army. Oh the possibilities...

Workshop sounds awesome, any additions to settlement building will be very much appreciated.

Far Harbor just sounds super dope. Can't wait for that one. All in all I'm pleased so far. This is only the next three months. Probably plenty of good stuff coming down the pike.

I don't really understand the negativity to these dlcs. More stuff to do in Fallout "oh no, that svcks" What?

I cannot tell if Railroad is noble because

1. Not sure if they fully understand Synth

2. Not sure of their cause and reason

3. Not sure if Synth are being released against their will

4. Not sure if any synth is worth helping over real human being (risking human life and ignoring people whom need help)

5. Not sure what they are ultimately trying to achieve

However, I hope this new Synth Island sheds some new light on Railroad to be more understandable.

I'm mostly excited about the Farshore.

And i'll be buying the Season Pass now because Farshore alone is 25 bucks.

All good points, especially #5.

It's one thing to "free" them, but there is no "follow up" delineated in the game. Synths should have some sort of "sponsor" that checks up with them and their adjustment. The lack of one makes the RR look like a bunch of self serving "limousine liberals".

Actually i like the announcements made here, makes it easy for people to weed out what they don't want, buy the season pass or just get all three. Also like that they are adding something to spice up the Settlement part of the game, and some randomness in form of the Robot with Mechanist as a villain. Personally Far Harbour sounds like what i want, but with the announcement of this, and more to come later this year i am actually going to buy the season pass *DUM DUM DUM*

Underwhelming in all honesty, the cage fighting one should be free and patched into the combat zone, and added as a crafting option in settlement building.

The mechanist one sounds like a rehash of the superhuman gambit quest from Fallout 3 with an added customisable companion.

The last DLC while the most promising sounds creatively challenged based on the synopsis. Another conflict containing synths, with added radiation!

Introducing the church of atom, impels me to wonder about the tone and seriousness of the conflict; levity is fine, but I hope it's aware of how risible it sounds.

I'm looking forward to exploring a new location, and hearing it's their biggest DLC offers some promise.

Yeah I'm not too sure what the Synths and Atom will actually bring and the townspeople makes me think it's going to be Point Lookout's bullet sponges. I really hope we can establish our own faction with its own ideals there. I'm also hoping that we will see SPECIAL playing a role in dialogue and there to be more talking and less shooting (although I doubt it by the description). Seriously the dialogue in Fallout 4 is the weakest in any of the Fallout games (especially compared to New Vegas).

For all we know it could be as good as DA: Awakening though so I'll reserve judgement there.

I just hope the "more" is going to be another large expansion instead of some small time stuff like the other two.

The last one mentions high level loot so I wonder what the recommended level for it is. Generally I beat the MQ around level 35 without even trying (just looking for something to do) so having an area to go when I'm 50+ level would be nice. Maybe ... I still recall going to Solstheim at low level and getting wasted by the hoppers. My wife still makes fun of me getting killed by grasshoppers.

Shhh... In all seriousness it could just be since I haven't played it in years i'm remembering it as something it wasn't.

I would like something like New Vegas DLC or The Pitt in terms of dialogue and factions, but on a larger scale with more factions.

Yeah the fights in this game have been laughably easy, albeit tougher than their previous two games. I can't see level being too much of a factor though since being severely underleveled has never stopped me before, but actually makes it more fun.

I'm hoping maybe a trailer or something will flesh things out a bit more, but as it stands I'm not too fond of the factions they presented:

Synth colony: Yay, more RR-style preaching about feeling robots. Woohoo?

Children of Atom: You mean the silly religious nuts that try and blast me with radiation guns? But why though?

Local townspeople: Could be interesting depending on who they are, I guess we'll just have to see.

I am excited about exploring a new huge landmass though. Just not too sure about the prospective questline. But, whatever, I'll hold off judgement until I get my hands on it. Maybe it'll be my favorite DLC of all time. :P

What might make the townspeople potentially interesting is the fact that they live in a highly radioactive area. Unless they are ghouls, that would make it boring...

As far as the Synths go, we don't know what kind of people they are. As far as we know, these Synths are a bunch of freaks who think that the Synths are the superior life form and the townspeople are the victims of this conflict.

Children of Atom will be boring if they are like the other ones in FO4, but what if they are the pacifist sect we see in FO3?

Either way, the description makes it sound like it won't be one of those easy to solve conflicts: peace comes at a high cost it seems.

1. They fully understand Synths are slaves.

2. Their cause is to free sentient beings from being tools, their cause is justified.

3. If you played the game and did Underground Undercover you'd realize the synths ALL WANT TO LEAVE the institute.

4. That's a silly comment to make, they're people just like anyone else. They're being treated worse than some people in the commonwealth.

5. They are ultimately trying to save people who are slaves while also trying to remove them from causing more issues.

The RR is a bit jab at the revolutionary war iirc in terms of slaves. If you want more informationhttp://www.revolutionary-war.net/slavery-and-the-revolutionary-war.html It mentions towards the bottom of the page about the underground railroad, which this faction is pretty much about.

See, the first thing that came to my mind was some sort of conflict between the locals, synths, and Atom. All seeming to vie for local resources. The SS has to sort this out, most likely based off of their chosen ending. (yea, I get that the last part there would be a stretch for Bethesda. you know choices making an impact on the game, but one can hope, right?)

Nah it is actually quite decent, it just suffers from the usual Expansion/DLC syndrome. Story and gameplay issues and pacing.

I am surprised some people will still pass $29.99 season pass deal...

because they are not happy with first two DLCs and unsure of future DLCs.

Far Harbor alone is $25... I don`t think Bethesda is giving us any option here tbh.

**and for stealthblade`s comment

There are so many wrong facts in your comments, but yes I will agree to disagree.

Yeah there could be an interesting spin on each one. So its hard to say exactly who they are at this point.

But just from the titles of the groups, my guess is that whatever conflict arises, I'll be siding with the locals. Unless the Synth Colony turns out to be an undercover Institute outpost or something.

I only passed on Season pass untill we had something announced, now we do. I want it all, and thus i will buy it. Also with the promise of more DLC later this year and the value reaching up at 60 bucks now, its a no brainer.

Jeez, remind me not to expect this forum to be ever be mostly positive about something. These DLCs sound fantastic, and well worth the price - especially since we have the opportunity to buy them all up for $30 before the end of the month. (and anyone not jazzed about Automatron or Workshop should consider getting the season pass anyway - it's only $5 more than the Far Harbor DLC right now, and it'll set you up for whatever comes next too)

Automatron - I don't think this actually adds any quest content, and the Mechanist thing was just a reference. What I think it adds is a huge overhaul of robots and their leveled lists (they're bringing robobrains back! everybody talked about that!), and crafting stations to build and mod our own robots. And look at the screenshot - he's wearing robot parts as armor. And then there's the new "electric chain gun". And pleeease, for the love of Atom, let us mod Codsworth.

Wasteland Workshop - Taming and building an arena for wasteland creatures sounds like a ton of fun, and look at the promo screenshot; almost everything in that screenshot is something we can't already build, and it looks like they're adding a set of concrete structures we can build with.

The Far Harbor- "the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created". Let's talk about the price tag for a second - Point Lookout and the other landmass DLCs in Fallout 3 were $10, right? The Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim was $20, and Shivering Isles (the largest and most well-received expansion they've done to date) was a whopping $30. This one sits pretty at $25 - which makes me think it'll have more content than Dragonborn or any Fallout DLC, but maybe not as much as the great-and-mighty Shivering Isles.

The future unannounced DLC gives me hope, too - I think we'll get at least one more story expansion, possibly on the mainland (or in a location comparable to Fallout 3/New Vegas DLCs), and then another $5 little ditty. And the "mods could have done this" is a load of hooey - they're not asking us for an outrageous sum for Automatron or Workshop, and Bethesda have always had the edge on modders for adding new assets like voice acting and animations. There was a "build-your-own-home" mod for Skyrim, but it didn't include recruiting any followers as your steward, adopting children, or buying the deeds from Jarls.

It seems like they're separate comics set in the same universe, a la the Marvel Universe. The Grognak video game mentions the AntAgonizer, and Grognak, the Silver Shroud, and the Mistress of Mystery are all part of the Unstoppables super-group.

Dawnguard gave a ton of background to the Falmer, so I'm hoping the Far Harbor does similar with the Children of Atom in this game. There's a lot of potential with them, and I'd love to learn how the harmless kooks from Megaton turned into a bunch of homicidally insane mega cultists.

My bet is that they'll tweak the level scaling ranges to go into the 100s, so that high-level characters still have a challenge but you won't get slaughtered if you go at like level 20 or 30. One of the things I hated about Morrowind's expansions was that by the time you were a high enough level to do them, you were a high enough level to cheese the entire base game.

Speaking for PC, one could get the game+all DLC for $20 in a year or two.

Not everybody uses mods. I am looking forward to Wasteland Workshop and not for the obvious reason of making monsters fight. I'm looking forward to it for the new settlement items, I just hope they let us create some stuff thats already in the game, such as chain link fences and wooden boxes/crates.

Holy [censored] that's exactly what I wanted. I kept posting for a DLC like the robots one for weeks, and I was not the only one. And that's not all but they also decided to dedicate the entire content around that idea. It is impossible for me to express how much excited I am, I saw the robot designs in the art of Fallout, I wonder what new models we will get.

That alone is enough reason for me to pay the full 50$ season pass. I feel hype again, it feels like christmas when you are a kid and you writte santa about what you want, if you actually get it you start believing in magic.

That's true. If we learn why there's such a crazy difference in how some of them react to you in The Commonwealth (shoot on sight vs. welcome with open arms) it could be worth it.

Just seems like a really odd choice of a group to expand upon. But, I've been wrong before. I thought Dead Money sounded kinda boring too and it turned out to be my favorite DLC in New Vegas. So who knows?
