Is Bethesda doing anything at all?

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 12:32 am

I suppose I was expecting something similar to the way Bioware did things after DA:I came out -- there were devs posting and even the mods appeared in contact with them since they'd often pass things along and there was communication over when the next patches were getting worked on.

No worries, poor business ethics always surface at some point. They rushed a November release in hopes of making another title GOTY, but Witcher 3 and MGS V have taken that spot almost universally. In some cases, Fallout 4 didn't even make the top 5, all because of bugs, you had the material devs, but you didn't have the determination. It shows a decrease in professionalism, and will show a decrease in sells. Eventually, a new company, maybe even Project CD RED or Kojima's new development team in the not too distant future, might reign on top of the game market. Things like this always catch-up, just as ESO went F2P because of horrible performance in patches, their customer base had left and profits were only being made by new players purchasing the game, and much less from monthly subscriptions. I used to be such a fan on the entire elder scrolls, and fallout series; however, it isn't the same. Something changed, shareholders and greed are most likely part of what is affecting this poor performance, strongly calculating what will bring in more money: using the workforce to develop other games and products to throw another product into the market, over working on fixing bugs which is only helping people whom have already given their money. I'm not so surprised, but I won't be fooled again.

Some kind of word from the Devs would help, its amazing what just a "Hey guys dont worry MORE PATCHES ARE ON THE WAY" would do to calm things but they cant even spend 5 minites to tell us whats going on. :nope:

Is there a game that they do provide real person support for? I notice there's a phone number for eso on their support page. Maybe we get our message across by bombarding the eso number with questions about fallout?

Exactly. They don't even post anything worth while on Twitter. Bungie get slated for Destiny half the time but at least they put something out. The silence is deafening from Bethesda.

Sadly that wouldn't really work, two completely different dev teams. Theirs is Zeninax Online, while Fallouts it's Bethesda Studios (correct me if I'm wrong), so technically they are part of the same big family, but two completely different businesses.

After all the articles published on their bugs, complaints, posts, and surely a lot of calls, if they aren't getting more involved, they won't be. There's not much we can do, it's their business and either they work hard and make the customers happy, or they get their money's worth, slack off and jeopardize their future projects, along with their company's reputation. Their choice, and our job to treat their company to what they deserve. They patch bugs, we are happy (while still not forgetting it took this long to get somewhere), or they don't do jack s#*!, and we take their future game releases with a grain of salt. Things will change once pre-orders start dropping dramatically, I promise it will.

Yea it svcks, immersion has gone out the back, I'm driving through spoiler town so I don't end up getting stuck in glitchville.

Why spoil everything, just stop playing entirely. It's more worth it at this point, then just check back for patch news. That's what I've been doing. Madden, Divinity, and Wasteland 2 have been doing a nice job of filling the FO4 void.

I'm sure they are working on the bugs. I remember how pissed i was about backwards dragons in skyrim, but it got fixed. Bug fixes take time.

Right. Probably a good number of then will be fixed. However, using Skyrim as a guide, I was only ever able to complete the game with player made mods and the console commands, because Esbern was broken. I'm still pretty sure that is not something Bethesda has addressed, even though it's relatively common and would have broken the game without mods/console commands.

Bethesda could do a lot better in just keeping us informed, rather than forcing us to take it on faith that our particular bug is being addressed, or that they're even doing any work on it at all.

Yay, bumping. There's some evidence that Bethesda will be releasing a beta patch out on the Steam platform soon, but still no actual word from Bethesda.

I've been thinking, maybe we're going about this all wrong. Sony always verifies patches, and I hear it can take a while. What if Sony wanted them to get as much stuff right in one big patch, but want it triple-checked before release by their own staff, it is a big game after all. So, if the patch is already just about ready, it would be unprofessional for Bethesda to come out and say it's in Sony's hands so blame them! Yet, if they released it on PC too early, console players would be fuming. I'm thinking they may already have taken all this into account, but stay silent to avoid any corporate backlash within the industry. I could be wrong, but I'll give them benefit of the doubt. There is no denying however, this is a sorry state for a newly released game, and a sad attempt at winning GOTY before the year was over. 2016 being a huge year for games, they probably wouldn't stand much of a chance against FFXV, Dark Souls 3, and whatever other big projects are set to be released before 2017. Hopefully we will get answers, but most of us aren't part of the gaming industry, so how could we know for sure?

That's not impossible, but I really doubt it would be bad form to give us updates as when a patch is completed and submitted. They don't have to come back around now to blame Sony for the delays if they were already giving us regular updates on the fixes.

So true !!!

The Witcher was such a milestone for Open Wolrd RPG, not only in Graphics but also in their support. They gave their Fans Infos about the next Patch and at least they tried to fix every Bug that has been reported. But Bethesda... nothing, only silence.

It's really Time to get them down to Earth again !!! Speak with your wallet, don't buy any DLC until things are patched in this Game. I had to put up with a lot of things in Skyrim, but not again, not this Time Bethesda. Your close Season is over. Show little bit more effort in holding your customers or you can keep your stuff for yourself!!!

Have people tried posting to Facebook / Twitter? That normally gets corporate attention as it's more public than specific forums. Not sure if this is the official page https://www.facebook.com/BethesdaSoftworks.eu/

I've tried reporting the 'old guns' transmitter bug on Twitter and just been ignored there as we have here. They don't seem to respond much on Twitter and anyone who raises that bug definitely gets ignored LOL. Quite a few people complaining on Twitter about lack of support too. Poor show from Bethesda.

The Witcher wasn't really on the same level as a Bethesda game in terms of open world rpgs... That doesn't excuse them, but comparing The Witcher to Fallout or Skyrim is like comparing an apple to a watermelon.

I'd say The Witcher was a bit beyond what Bethesda has made. The squared off map may not be as big in a sense, but it was definitely full of life and lively environments. Much better experience when traveling throughout the world, not to mention the strong connection you actually make with NPC's you run into. I'm very happy that CD Projekt RED made GOTY, in a variety of review outlets, with their first console game (I think). Fallout 4 IS different, but if you've played the witcher series, you can see how much heart and attention to detail are spent into each installment. Instead of the wash, and repeat for as long as it works method of Bethesda's. I don't think the amount of bugs included in this game is acceptable by any means. Not to mention the complete PS4 crashing problems people are having to do system recovery's on just because of how glitchy this game can be. I hope something is offered in return, and soon. Because the witcher is still very fun with its replayability, I will surely go back to it. My only complaint on that game was the frame rate issues, but that game was seriously pushing the PS4 about just as hard as it could.

Had to stop playing this game weeks ago because of crashing. I check this forum almost daily, hoping that maybe someday Bethesda will respond to something. Pete Hines on Twitter just tells everybody with issues to go to this support forum where nobody from the company will help or answer questions here. Feel like I paid 60 bucks to get kicked in the balls. No DLC purchase from me if that's how things are gonna be around here.

Oh trust me! I will not buy even another game from them at release, if some of these problems aren't fixed, or we receive no updates by the end of the weekend. I'm done being played by a profit mongering corporation who sees their fan base as expendable ATM's. Too much good stuff coming out these days, if they svck, they will go down and be discredited in the next few years regardless. I can't wait to see more of CD Projekt RED's future products, not to mention it looks like Square Enix are finally getting their heads back into the game. I played the FFXV demo when type zero came out, and it was SICK!! I love their new combat system so much and can't wait to dive into it like its a full time job. Type Zero svcked though, so not making comments on that one.

I really don't know why no one from Bethesda is even trying to engage with the community. Seems the total opposite behaviour than you would expect!
