Bethesda has spoken.

Yes, it was obviously their intention from the start to release a patch that would cause SOME people issues. You're a genius man...

Did I say that it was their intention? Who the hell cares what their intentions are? All that matters is what they do about it, and they can't seem to spare the manpower or hire more people with the money that they've made off of the 7 million units sold to get this issue fixed. I don't care who they are, their quality assurance and testing svckS.

Yet another apologistic really devoted fan who simply doesn't care what is given to them as long as it's from a "brand name". You act like there are not companies that release games that are highly polished or at the very least have infinitely fewer issues even at launch that get patched pretty quickly.

This is a case of "Haha, we're Bethesda and we know that most of the masses will keep their heads in the sand and stay in line. We already got your money!".

Yeah, you is right, Bethesda are super-villains and the antagonists of your live. Right now they are at their HQ planning how to earn more money in the most vile way possible. I foresee a paid TES: MMORPG soon!

Tell me where they ever promised to sell a flawless experience to you. Oh, wait, that's impossible to promise.

i have a response which i think people should listen to and take seriously (but they wont, and most will never see it)

in july of this year, we were all complaining that we wished they would just go ahead and release skyrim so we could play it
we didnt care what state it was in, we were just so f,ing excited we wanted it "now"

imagine that the release date of skyrim was delayed (oh no!!!!) to something like february or march 2012
and bethesda- generous and kind- kept their promise and gave it to us early on november 11

so just be happy youre playing it
because it loads when you put it in, and youve got more than enough unbuggy content to keep you VERY BUSY until next year

and then when things really get fixed, start a new game and pretend its your first time

**this is an amazing aside** while i type this, i can hear the dude in the apartment next door playing skyrim

That might have something to do with the fact that most of the masses aren't having any serious problems. And if they are having problems, they aren't treating it like such a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1300560-bethesda-has-spoken/page__view__findpost__p__19582219. Relax for a second before you blow an artery and end up in the hospital.

What they are doing about it is fixing it. You don't hire temps to make a patch for a game you've been working on for six years. That's just a huge waste of money. You use the staff that knows what they are doing and you fix the problem. Which is what Bethesda is doing. Again, calm down.

Here, for all of us expecting an answer, it was a much anticipated "we'll get it done, hold your horses".

It's ok, they messed up, so what? No harm done, no one is dying or having exploding consoles/PCs.

Previous TES games also had issues, and eventually they were refined to a very enjoyable, satisfying game/experience.

I'm sure patience will be well rewarded. Peace.

THANK YOU BETHESEDA! We love your incomplete, rushed game! It is so awesome! I love the backward flying dragons!

No harm done at all, just $66 and a broken game! Such an awesome deal!

Myself - I'm on Skyrim with a PC.. and I'd not really noted anything major.. other then a random horse falling out of the sky and dropping in front of me, nearly killing a poor fox who scurried out of the way. I also did discover the weapons racks one (was able to put my bow there one time.. unable to another). I also noted that strangely for lockpicking.. A and D dont rotate the lock anymore.. but the arrow keys do.

Anyhow, my point is I've been playing Skyrim with Steam offline mode, so the 1.2 patch doesnt take hold.. for fear of it giving me issues I've seen raised here and elsewhere.. question to folks is.. should I just keep playing the game offline until this new incremental patch gets released?

How do you know their testing svcks? Did you test for them? Do you develop games yourself? Of course not. You're just a troll.

All games are released with bugs, why would skyrim be an exception?

Well, Skyrim will be "in the guarantee" by some good time, so (like any other product with guarantee) you will receive free fixes! I know, it's a amazing concept.

Why do you think people always say "I'll wait for the GOTY edition" when it comes to Bethesda's games. It's because they tend to have game breaking bugs. It's nothing new, I know it svcks but the problem with gamers is there is no self control. People always buy on release day at full price and then complain later.

I can't really feel sorry for you dude because these games have always had issues. My advice would be to check up on games before you buy them, especially these days because there is a release first then patch later mentality in the gaming industry.

ive bought most of their games in the past. have never had an unplayable game from them before. buggy, yes and that i can live with, but not being able to play at all is bunch of crap.

You know whats funny? Those people who go from Bethesda is the worst company, until they saying something on twitter and then say they are the best.

How does one have such tenacity?

I often wonder the same thing.... its amazing how serious and nasty people get when THEY run into problems, and come here to call Bethesda horrible names, then another patch is released and all is forgiven! I think some people should learn not to jump off the deep end, Bethesda, unlike some other game companies I could name but won't... actually listen to their fans and have already released a patch not even 3 weeks after release and are releasing another next week!

I am not saying don't explain your issues if you are having them, I am saying there is no need to be nasty, rude, or assume that EVERYONE is having the same issues and what you are saying is FACT! Be mature about things and everything will run much smoother.

We didn't tell them to release the game on 11-11-11, they choose to do that, of their own free will...

What does a religious holiday have to do with fixing a game? Is this the christian crusades version of Skyrim?

Last time I checked, this game was a world-wide release. You do realize like only 2% of the world celebrates Christmas, right... The birth of Christ, who was actually born in the summer, no-where near my birthday, which is the day before Christmas... Now that is a holiday everyone should be celebrating... My birthday! LOL

2% LOL try more like half the world. Just about everyone celebrates :celebration: this holiday except those in the Middle East and the Jewish religion. Really doesn't matter except the fact Bethesda celebrates :celebration: the Holidays and rightfully so. I have to agree with them, family is hell alot more important than a video game. I'd rather them take their time than rush something out. They just need to remember that alot of people will be opening their copies on Christmas morning and should atleast try and get things alittle more cleaned up before then.

Christmas itself is more about Symbolizing the birth of Jesus. For alot of families, Christmas is a way to wrap up a year. Families gather and reflect, share meals and gifts and be thankful they made it another year. Then Janurary 1st arrives, we all celebrate :celebration: the arrival of a new year, and then we do it all over again.

Man, if you buy a Bethesda game before modding is even possible, you're pretty much asking for an incomplete game anyway :P

Agreed. The game is great and yet I am suffering from the 1 shot mage kills at LV 45 :(. Good post, patience will be rewarded even though this patch was more damaging for some players than anything Ive ever seen....and I played FF XI through PlayOnline viewer. Its amazing that a 3 second update can do so much damage.

Bethesda are releasing a patch for this next week.... something went caput in the last patch with resistances to magic, even so I don't normally die in one hit unless it is some VERY powerful mage using high level element spells. I run into an Ascendant Necromancer yesterday in a cave, I seriously wasn't expecting something so powerful since the spotter outside was only an adept! She killed me with one Icy blast as soon as she looked at me, then again, then again... until I figured I could distract her attention with a fire antronach long enough to beat her over the head with my enchanted mace! I guess its hard to concentrate and cast spells when your getting whallaped with Elven Metal over your noggin?

This thread demonstrates why the average person is employe in unskilled labour. Now imagine that 1/2 of the people out there are dimmer than that. *shudder*

I've been able to avoid the patch, thankfully. Steam Workshop integration could be incredible for the modding scene.

would the workshop allow mods to be downloaded via steam?
as in rather than manually installing the mods like in the past Steam would put them in automatically if you chose to download it?

thanks :D

and I satisfied, some acknowledgement of the issues is all I needed.

Exactly what I was thinking. I assume this integration with Steam is what is holding things up. :verymad: Overall going to be a very bad idea integrating the mod tools into Steam like this, especially if as with TF2 they introduce money into the equation. The potential is there for this to completely wreck the mod community.

Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button.

Is this the beginning of mod commercialization?

I have nothing against steam, it run's flawlessly on my system, but I only use it because I have to in order to play the games.

see, was that so hard? just a little acknowledgment of whats going on is all i ask...

january seems a ways away, and i dont know about this steam workshop business... sounds like another of gabe newell's crackpot schemes :spotted owl: . mods install in a hundred different ways and without manual control more mods are incompatible with each other than they would be if you took the 30 seconds to learn what they changed. by their very nature, mods are something you dont just click a button to install. not only is half their purpose to change the game in ways the devs never anticipated, but even the slightest script edit can make 2 otherwise unrelated mods incompatible.

at any rate, you dont have to worry about patches beth; once we get the CK, we'll handle fixing the game for ya. we always do...

Well, the part about "you’ll have free user content with the push of a button" kind of make it clear that it's not going to happen soon.

All the angry people should go watch and listen to the blogs linked video of the two lovely young ladies playing their lovely arrangement of Jeremy Soule's lovely music. It will sooth the soul until the patches arrive.

The ranting reminds me of GSC Gameworld's forum after the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat. That game was buggier than a dungeon diving Indiana Jones's back, and the forum was full of people with their "if I buy a car and it doesn't run I take it back to the dealer" anologies, just like here; but it was still a great game and the bugs were fixed eventually... mostly. Complicated programs with millions of lines of code always have some bugs.

gloops you must mean Shadow of Chernobyl or Clear Sky. Call of Pripyat was "semi-bug-free" game and it wasn't even patched officially.

JANUARY WTF!!! If its the same thing they used to make the game its obviously usable wtf.

(talkin bout creation kit :P )

Oh and steam workshop...Not a fan of the idea. I wonder if its an intentional attack against the nexus people. Despite the adds I have loved tesnexus and now skyrim nexus as the damn near one stop shop. Sure there are maybe 2 other sites ive used, but now add this damn steam workshop?

meh needed another place to have to upload/download mods to / from right? thanks...
