Bethesda has spoken.

So everyone in the world should stop working for a month, and just chill with family that they didn't get enough of all year long... While they spend the money I just gave them on working gifts for thier loved-ones, while my family has to deal with me being agitated from loosing $60 on something I purchased for myself months ago. Something I would have gotten for others, as a gift, had it worked...

Wow, two holiday events of conflicting religeons, celebrated at the same time. (Jews don't believe Jesus has come yet, and Christians celebrate his birthday on the day of thier holiday, even though he wasn't born in winter.) What is that a holiday of again? What does that have to do with family, and not-working... Last time I checked, people work on holidays and up to holidays.

You cant possibly be so uptight that you want them not to have time off for Christmas? Lol you're being rediculous. It's not like they said no updates till January. You obviously didnt read it. Data updates, which are largely rebalencing and quest fixes will likely be in Jan. While CODE issues like your bug youre whining so much about, will be the PRIORITY.

This sure is a great display of communication skills. I don't know who wrote this, but if I ever get confronted with an angry mob I'd like to have this person's phone number.

Really, pretty impressive.

Great mixture of good news and not-so-bad news. Biggest letdown is having to wait another month or so for the CK, but then that means I get to actually play the game some more (luckily I was able to revert back to 1.1). As a modder, that Steam Workshop thing sounds interesting, especially as a potential step towards PS3 modding - if its able to offer a more streamlined way to address mod inter-compatibility and quality control.

"After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. "

Well the apologists can now stop saying "xploits and imbalance are fine lern 2 play111"

Because unless you're stupid enough to do them, then they are fine.

To break the damage on a weapon for example, you have to deliberately know what you're doing, and do it. You have to enchant armor, to boost potions to boost enchanting to boost smithing, etc. It's not something you accidentally do.

Those of us that aren't idiots haven't had a problem because we don't do it. I just hope levelling is made slower on most skills and in general, although it took 100hrs for level 50 which isn't too bad.

"...along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits." :celebrate:

Would this mean smithing/enchanting being too powerfull and destruction been underpowered?

It's ok, they messed up, so what? No harm done

Except for, you know, people losing entire characters and other people being unable to play a game they spent $60 on.

Really? And you told someone else to get outside more often? Stop trolling. gamesas is full of, you know, people that deserve a holiday just as much as anyone else. And do not use the forums as a pedestal for your ill-conceived view on holidays, it is irrevelent and tiresome.

It might surprise you that it takes time to set up things like a construction kit and distribution service. I'm sure they would love to release it right now but they are not wizards.

Okay, no new textures or meshes, and no script extenders.

Then what's the point? <_< Theres nothing to be gained.

New quests, new items, new buildings, new land, etc.

There's plenty that can be done, although I think it would be a nightmare for Bethesda to sift through all of the thousands of mods that are inevitably going to come. So, I agree that it won't happen. Not because it can't happen, but because it would be insanely impractical.

New quests could work, sure. New items, unless generic looking items with pretty enchantments, new buildings, and new land would need new textures and meshes, so it wouldn't work.

Steam workshop probably won't even work. <_< The mod sites will be fine.

I don't know about that. My experience with the modders on Nexus has been great and you can communicate with them easily about what's happening with their mod and I don't know how it'll be on Steam. We'll see.

Uhmmm...glad to hear there will be another patch next week...I'm a bit less flamed now :)

And CK and Steam Workshop looks great (if a biiit late, being released on Jan...oh well...), although I prefer TESNexus by now.

You are putting words in my mouth... I don't care what holiday they celebrate... it has nothing to do with not fixing the game. (As the original comment to me was about.)

The original comment was... "Give them a break, it's the holidays"

My reply is... WTF does that have to do with fixing the game. Nothing. Especially since, most of the world, is not on break, just because a few people with kush-jobs seem to have months-off. I work for a living, hard, on holidays, since holidays have nothing to do with your jobs... there is always a holiday, every month... If that was the spirit of work.. then take the year off... I don't mind if you hold on to my money a few months longer... I'll just sit and wait, and post. Since that is what I do on holidays.

People complain way too much. B aren't gods, they're human like everyone else. Nobody can make a game be more perfect with a patch or two.

So this means.....

When Bethesda releases a new game it is best to buy it 3 months AFTER they release it to ensure I can play it?

Gotcha :)

STEAM workshop sounds great. It will be a great hub to browse and DL mods.

Skyrim Nexus will still be the place to go to discuss those mods though. That, and nvde and six mods will probably be on Skyrim Nexus and we know those are the most popular next to texture packs :D

Oh please, that isn't the only balance/exploit issue: although I'm sure that is one of the things they will fix. You don't need to do that tripple cycling to break the game, and i wasn't strictly talking about crafting.

Good thing bethesda get it.

Yes...if someone isn't able to deal with all of this at release because - There Will Be Bugs - it might be better to wait. Some people posted that they were going to wait. It just depends on one's temperment. :)

Exactly why I more or less despise the Nexus. 90% of the mods involve furries and prostitution and if you say anything against them you get banned. <_<

That Steam Workshop thing seems interesting. Although, I suspect in the end, there'll be much conflicts, bugs and installing the old fashionned way. :P It's not a Beth game if I don't spend hours uploading, removing and generally building the data folder equivalent of a house of cards.

I love the tone of that post. :lmao: It manages to grovel with compliments while not acknowledging there is much of a problem. Truly a masterpiece.

I want a bug-free game, too, but don't be a taliban. I'm happy enough they're going to release another patch next week fixing the most notorious bugs they...err...introduced in 1.2.

Let them rest, and meanwhile you know, enjoy the holidays, spend time with your family, have a bit of social life...those things.

Yeah, you really couldn't be more wrong. Although trying to reconcile mods adding hotkeys with console controllers is going to be impossible - I worked on trying to get all the hotkeys arranged reasonably for a mega-mod compendium, we were running out of keyboard real estate, let alone gamepad buttons. With that exception, all gameplay mods would transfer over fine, along with new armors, quests, body replacers. And from what I hear, script extenders are going to be less crucial with this new engine (its even got an object oriented scripting language.)
