Bethesda Involvement & Future Updates?

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 10:34 pm

This is a post for the probability of Fallout Shelter being maintained and updated.

I realize the game is very new. However, I'm not very familiar with Bethesda or their track record of involvement in games. I think this game has some awesome opportunities for expansion and updating. I could imagine this game receiving the same amount of updates as for example Clash Of Clans, then becoming the most popular sims game on the app store.

Personally, I've probably played somewhere around 15-20 hours and I'm on my second vault (after the practice vault lol). I feel like the game is doing a great job for what it is when it comes to holding your attention. I'd just like to see more interaction on certain things.

Quick bullets on my future update wishlist

  • More/Different "incidents"

  • More interaction with the raiders. You can kill them very easy once you know how to play.

  • Maybe a battle system for the explorers (like pokemons system)

  • Increase probability of better items/dweller (I have 80 dwellers and only received decent things from cards)

  • Fix the daily tasks. Examples, you have to send new dwellers to explore for the "5 hours in wasteland" task. And you have to make more babies or dwellers pregnant for the "have 7 dwellers pregnant/deliver babies" task.

  • The vault door upgrades are honestly pointless. Maybe allow the defenders to go outside to fight?

  • Obviously a layout editor would be cool, but not a must for me.

  • Fix the notification system, it only goes off when you exit the game to tell you a room is ready. If it could tell you about your explorers about to die or things like that.

  • Lunch boxes need an update, too few caps and not enough good weapons.

Without going into all my opinions, here's my main question. Do you think this game will be updated regularly and does Bethesda usually give their games attention after launch?

Thanks!

I like some of the points you made especially the dwellers being able to go out and defend if you can scramble them in time for the attack.

Given the app's huge success, I do hope they have a patch in the pipeline. I also hope that greed doesn't get the better of them, though I wouldn't mind throwing a $1 at it for some new content to keep it interesting. Personally though, I would've preferred to spend a few dollars on it initially and then receive free updates and patches. Kinda like how Angry Birds apps were initially. It's hard to say how serious they're going to take the management off this app, without a dedicated support team, but considering the (assumed) cost to produce it, I sure hope they'll have the dev work on squashing the larger bugs.

I don't see them allocating development resources on a free game when Fallout 4 is slated to be released in 5 months.

This was one of the highest grossing IOS apps the past week. I believe they'll want to keep it that way, and for that, updates are needed! :)

On the door:

It's usually one of the first things I upgrade. I would certainly like it if it's more useful, but delaying the raiders is usually enough for me to swap places with a few grunts and prepare for a defence. Still, more can be done with it, that's for sure.

Same here.

I'm having an inordinate amount of fun with it.

Love the look of the game and the concept, but it definitely needs to be expanded upon in some way.

I'd like more to the wasteland exploring aspect, as well as to the attacks on the vault and the defences or responses we can used against such raids.

Maybe even a quest system for exploration (recover a replacement water filtration chip anyone?)

I'd even like to see expansion upon the inside of the vault.

Perhaps give us the option to form family units.

Different kinds of habitation that have different effects on morale and differing housing capacity.

Make the dwellers have a chance of misbehaving at lower happiness levels (stealing food from the stockpile, fighting, trying to escape, starting fires... not that those need much help sometimes.)

Then give us the tools to deal with that misbehavior, such as a security team and security bay which automatically dispatches stationed personnel to deal with a disturbance.

...maybe I'm asking for too much, but dang it, the game is fun already and these are things I'd love to see added.

i suggested in another thread, i think a perk system should be introduced, like in the "real" games. if each dweller could get perks it would add another layer of customization so we can make each dweller truly unique instead of just 40 powerboys, 20 foodgirls, 20 waterguys etc...

I'm not using my phone that much in general, stumbled across Todd Howards presentation of Fallout 4 (which I love, together with their Elders Scrolls series) and i got super psyched.

Though I was expecting a new Fallout 4, the whole presentation got me worked up, thank you Todd and Bethesda Team.

Ontop of the greatness and the video I've even watched a few times already, you guys launched a free mobile app, which got me powerloading and almost melting my Iphone 4S.

Though, the game has alot of problems and I hope and look forward to have gotten a fix to the worst of it, dear Bethesda.

My phone is outdated for this and i get lock up and vault enter and exit of app. The phone itself can hold it up i think, atleast up to my 30 dwellers and i try to play a minimalist vault to enjoy some of this app till i buy myself a newer model.

Which i'd actually want now, haha.

Upon research i see even the newer devices has difficulties, though they support a further gameplay than what i can reach. Help us out Bethesda, never cease to amaze and stun us with your great innovating games and listen to your community!

I'm also getting annoyed with my lunchbox rewards because I keep receiving duplicate legendary followers, **spoilers of names below** But can the system remove followers that we already have through their name identity? Is the code even designed to identify them by name? It seems like they're actually just normal dwellers, but they are also identified in the Dwellers section of the "wiki" tab. So what's the deal? Bug?

I don't want 3 Amatas (damn she was super annoying anyway)

I guess having two Eulogy Jones is ok.

Radroaches must be toned down/balanced out. I'm terrified to play the game knowing a random invasion can wipe out my whole vault.
