Bethesda, let me build evil settlements.

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:44 am

How exactly would it be done now that the game is out and then someone else will want to take it a step further. Certainly would have been nive and the fallout world is one that has been ambiguous morals in the past. I tend to just dress up my settlers in raider armor and it's enough for me to pretend. There are some skull towers but not sure if heads on sticks, Looked like 3 skulls on an electrical tower. May have been more choices. I've even got Preston in a sack hood. I do love taking territory ever since San Andreas.

Personally I love the idea of being able to build a mercenary settlement with Cait and/or Strong.

Stumbling across a dead body is just recycling and survival. Killing someone because you are hungry is considered evil. Cannibalism is different from western cultural morals so it is considered evil due to that simple reason. Although the more appropriate response is that it is disgusting according to our standards rather than it being evil.

I want to take over West Everett Estates so bad. It's already fortified and it looks like a very cozy little town. Just remove the meat sacs and we're good.

Fallout 4, all advertising to the contrary, is not a role playing game. It is an open world, action, first person shooter with a linear story line created to embrace the casual gamer while disregarding the fans that got the franchise to where it is now.

I feel your pain mate. For my first play through I was going to be a low intelligence melee bruiser and play it evil. That was before I realized that Bethesda removed the elements of choice and consequence from the franchise. I am enjoying what they added but even more I am lamenting what they subtracted.

that is what slaves are for. Slap slave collars on settlers or wastelanders and put them to work. Recruit raiders to your settlement to guard the slaves and do other activity. Would have been fun. So far in my play, the lack of evil stuff to do is annoying.

You know it's a game right? If people want to be pricks in a game, that's fine with me. Get it out of your system before you go out into the real world. Not to take these forums in THAT direction. But maybe if there were more asshats in the fallout universe, there would be less asshats in the real one.

You dont really believe people played Postal back in the day because they were trying to plan out how to do that stuff in real life do ya?

And for the record. Yes, there's been one or two times in FO:4 that I've saved my game, then went around and purposely tried to go blow everybody's head off. Hell, I even chased down the leader of the minutemen and shot him repeatedly in both knees for a couple minutes. Before I went back and loaded prior to that particular psychotic breaking moment. :)

First time I found the Railroad faction. Wiped out everyone in the base with flamethrowers.

And I bet that guy you mentioned above is enjoying the heck out of the cannibal perk. :)

I'm planning on going for more evil/amoral playthough for my second one so some options to have that influence the settlement building side of things would be great. I'm thinking ala Randall Flagg's Las Vegas in The Stand.

This would be a cool feature, and if it's possible to do with the Geck when it comes out I'm sure it'll be done by modders pretty quickly.

There does seem to be a lack of EVIL options....

One thing I liked about at games is the ability to play it at least 2x Good/Evil or in FNV x4

Seems like 4 will only give me 1x play if I cannot go bad.

Factions and Evil settlements would definitely help.

Yeah. That would good if someone can mod it in. Instead of (or as well as) other raiders attacking you, there could be settlers and minutemen trying to rescue your, erm, residents.

Spot on.

I miss slavery as a feature in the game. It played a fairly big role in Fallout 2 in the form of the Slaver's Guild you could join and go on slave runs for. In Fallout 3 there was Paradise Falls where you could buy slaves including a great companion and you could actively enslave people throughout the wastes. There was of course The Pitt which was arguably the best DLC in Fallout 3. In NV there was the Legion which played a central role in the game and story.

Whether it's joining the slavers, helping slaves like the poor blokes at the Temple of the Union or declaring war on the slavers themselves, it's a very interesting dynamic in the wasteland in my opinion. The synths and their self determination don't quite come close, I feel.

I never play an evil character, but I do agree that with Beths Fallout games, you character seems to be always molded with a set history. In NV, you were simply "The Courier" and you could make up your whole backstory and RP how you wanted. With FO3 you know your whole backstory and are looking for Daddy, with FO4 you know your whole backstory and looking for baby... seriously? They are doing such a great job with the the Elder Scrolls series, where you are always just a prisoner at the beginning. Why pigeonhole our character into the "concerned mother/father" aspect?

Don't forget being able to sell a child (or two, depending on what you did with that Bryan kid) to the slavers...you don't get much more evil than that! I suppose I'll have to give an evil playthrough a go and see how it turns out.

I agree, this sounds fun. The current system is an average settlement builder but with a few adjustments it could be as good as other great game's settlement builders. The only thing is this should be added in a DLC because it seems it would be hard to make and would add a lot to the game.

I hope they'll do DLC for "Settlement Packs."

I'd love for a Raider pack so you can have a Strange Meat Stand, Corpses Decorations, Slave Auction Stands (generate caps), and other stuff to make the place look appropriately like a bunch of Raiders are staying there.

Ditto Super Mutants, Institute, and so on.

Be cool if, after wiping out a settlement, you could also scrap the corpses and it would give you meat and blood as healing food items, and bone as crafting materials, maybe even skin which would count as leather. Hell we should be able to do that with raiders even as a good guy, be a Creepy Good type or something.

On a sort of related side-note it would at least be cool to choose one of the other major factions to run the settlements. Like if you chose the Institute or the BOS, why can't they raise their flags in every settlement, and you can choose to rule the entire wasteland under one flag.
