We won't get anything more I'm sure, but if they had planned for another add-on, I would have loved another DLC that would involve mages, more spells would have been great imo!

Civil War Continuation. If that was what they were doing....it wouldn't be a very successful college semester for me.

Just saw it on BethBlog. Might be worth getting and putting away for when I upgrade my PC capabilities. I intend on building a gaming desktop when I can afford it.

I disagree with this but whatever... And I'm not talking about getting a 'max profit' thing... More like, make a quick amount of profits to continue working and such... I mean, Bethesda is kinda one of those companies that doesn't always release games, or at least major selling games... So they gotta space some stuff out for quick amount of profits to continue working. And that marketing trick is a good way to get a lot of people to buy a product in short amount of time.

Stopping to do other things is fine, revisiting would be nice.

*facepalm*,

saying "hey we lied, heres another DLC" will not get them a quicker buck, people would still buy it the same way as before. us hardcoe "to much money" gamers would get it day one, and the "less money" gamers would buy it as soon as its affordable or they have the expendable income.

saying "we lied, buy it now!" won't make sales come in any quicker, it just loses the potential sales of those who have moved on as a result of them saying they are done.

It did indeed feel as if there should have been one more large DLC but as much as I'm hoping for it in situations like this I tend to fall back on Occums Razor theory.(spelling)

If yea don't know what that is just google it.

My best guess is they realized that Fallout 4 is going to make far more money than another DLC and they noticed that US fallout fans are starting to get antsy over the ridiculous time in between installments. So they made a decision and decided to pull the team off of the Skyrim content and move them onto Fallout 4.

This is simply where my train of thought leads to, be it right or wrong....only time can tell.

I agree with this a bit and can go with my own thoughts actually. Maybe they pulled off majority except for 1 or 2 to Fallout? Could explain why it would take a long time... If they do plan on releasing a small DLC for Skyrim.

When they learned about the new consoles coming out, they completely forgot about skyrim, and they don't even know what a xbox360 or ps3 is anymore.

Problem with your theory?

The Fighters Stronghold was in development as early as summer 2006 (A year before the GOTY released). That's when some of the first rumors about Dragonfire Castle emerged (There are some items in the CS that still bear that old name) When it never emerged, it was believed that it had been abandoned.

I remember seeing a post too, that stated that the reason for the late release were some tech issues at the devs end that basically forced them to abandon it to focus on one of the other DLC -either NOTN or Shivering Isles.

After the others were completed a couple of the devs went back and finished it off.

Also, this was the only time this occured. Fallout 3? All DLC released before GOTY. New Vegas? All DLC released before GOTY. Morrowind? All DLC released before GOTY.

Not exactly history getting repeated. Fighters Strongholds late release was an exception. A one off.

How long has GameJam content been known? And what about the Arena files in the Creation Kit? Those stuff could be having tech issues and pushed aside as well while Bethesda focus on other Skyrim stuff, like the other DLCs and patches... That lovely stuff! And now they could have one or two guy going back and finishing this stuff up so they can be used in a DLC...

So basicly, what you just said support my theory even more! Not harming it.

Think it if you will.

But as pointed out by others. Releasing DLC after GOTY and AFTER they said they were done harms sales due to the number of people that have moved on.

They weren't even expecting many sales of Fighters Stronghold, since they had it free for the first two weeks.

Do you have examples of other times when DEVs have said they're done, released the GOTY and THEN released another DLC?

Also DLC requires a lot more than one or two people to work on it.

Never said they are going for max sales.

I say they really only need one or two people for a minor small DLC, especially since they'll have a lot of time to work on it... Why would it require more?

I agree with this. And I do believe that Bethesda making a new project instead of bringing new DLC for the Skyrim, will make TES: VI arrival a more closer event.

Skyrim is a big game already, with very large world to explore, even if you have one character only it will take so much time to complete it all, then even if you discovered and cleared all locations (which takes a lot of satisfying game-play hours) there is Heartfire DLC, which allows to have some fun creating and re-creating your house(s). With Dragonborn DLC you can change your build to try any class you want. But then again, you can always start a new character and complete the game in a different way because it's TES - one of the best single-player RPG's out there! ;)

first, they said when the gamejam video was released the most of it would probably never see public release.
and the Arena files in the CK, well what about all the files in Oblivions CS from removed content? like the "black horse courier quests", or the quest involving that guy in the arena and his illegitimate daughter that trained outside. we never saw a DLC for those. Content gets cut but is left in the games data files, but that does not mean they ever plan on finishing that content. gaming has been like that since the DoS era..
