Bethesda misspelling!

Post » Mon Oct 15, 2012 1:42 am

Sorry if this has already been posted on the forums, but has anyone else noticed that Bethesda managed to misspell Cyrodiil on the case of The Shivering Isles? They spell it 'Cyrodill' on the blurb - how unprofessional!

I'm not being permitted to post a link, but if you have the Shiv Isles case around, take a look.

It so happens I have a Shivering Isles box right here by my computer (having just installed the game a month or so ago). I have turned it over twice and I don't see the word Cyrodiil written anywhere on the box.

I wonder if you play on a 360 or PS3, perhaps? My box is a first edition PC box.

Yes, I have it on 360, should've mentioned that.
If you Google Image search 'shivering isles case', the first image proves it. Weird.

Ah, I see. You have a later version than mine. Yours also has Knight of the Nine bundled with it. It's your Knights of the Nine paragraph that's misspelled. I don't have that on my box. I'm really surprised Bethesda didn't catch that. Their games have typos but you would think they would put a little extra effort into proofreading their boxes.

Anyway, good catch!

I really don′t like misspelling in games. Like you say it has a nasty anproffesionalismm about it. I can′t even tolerate it in mods because I want my mods to be barely noticable and they fail in that regard if the modder misspelled here and there or have_underlines_instead_of_spacebar_when_hovering_names

I agree, particularly with the mod called Moonpaths to Elsweyr. The amount of grammatical mistakes and misspelling I have seen in YouTube previews of it has just put me off downloading it, despite how impressive the rest of it looks. On the same note - although a very, very pedantic one - have you noticed the inconsistency with the naming of Miscellaneous Objectives in Skyrim, in terms of whether or not they use a full-stop/period at the end. As you may have noticed I'm quite a perfectionist gamer. ;)

I don′t as I don′t play that game and this is the Oblivion forum ;) But I′m like you, I would not have downloaded a mod either if I knew about all the misspelling.
