Bethesda Needs To Fix This Game!

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:02 am

I am sick of the constant CTD for no reason, no windows error, the game just shuts down and I have two excellent computers. I just lost an entire fort because I cleared it and as we were walking back to Solitude, CTD. If I didn't love this game so much, I'd not play it until it's fixed. This is full of bugs, errors etc. Damn. I love it but I'm getting really frustrated. Now I know why I never bought a Bethesda game at release.

sorry to hear that.

I have had KNOCK ON WOOD, no CTD. I have in last 2 hours of play had a lot of freezes. wondering what changed. But this should be moved by mod to PC concerns.

I feel ya.
However, take at least some solace in knowing patches are coming.
Perhaps post your specifics on the PC Hardware/Software issues board. The gathering of consistent, common problems is key in helping get a proper patch.

It crashes on both of my computers so it isn't a hardware issue. I'm sure Bethesda knows all about their bugs and CTDs. It just gets very frustrating to play for an hour and lose it because it randomly CTDs, I was standing still waiting for my companion to catch up, CTD. Crazy.

More likely your computer hardware, drivers, graphics card....rather than game.

Yeah that happens to me as well. 4 times in 74 hours of play if I remember correctly. Figured it was my hardware as I get BSOD's semi-frequently. Also got a pirated copy of W7 :)

Windows 7 of course, these are brand new computers. I don't know of a sandy bridge cpu in an XP computer. I work in a tech company. I know computers. It is not a driver or hardware issue and I have the latest drivers. Made sure of that before I installed the game.

Probably a ram problem. I had some CTD then I downloaded the 4gb patcher "large address aware" or something like that from skyrim nexus and it almost never crashes on me now.

I've had one crash in 12 hours of gameplay so far. Not too bad.

Just make sure you save frequently until they release a patch to fix it. Playing for an hour without saving is really risky. lol

I had some issues with Oblivion too on the PC but patches and updating all my drivers fixed this. Try updating your graphics drivers and see how you go I know Bethesda have released BETA drivers for Skyrim, give them a go.

This is one of the reasons I am playing Skyrim on the PS3 not ONE crash, black out, or bug.

You think that's bad? Try dealing with the near constant lag and frame rate drops on PS3.

Well now there's an answer. I have 8 gigs of 1333 in both computers. I'll head over to nexus and look for it and I just said I have the latest drivers. This is NOT a driver issue. But ram, very likely. But this is 2011. Beth should have made a game that could handle plenty of ram.

I think this could be your culprit. I have the game running on my beast PC and my sons not so beast PC. The two pcs couldn't be any more different but yet I have yet to have on CTD and he has only had one. But once we changed the sound output we have had no problems. Try some trouble shooting and forums serching. Its bound to fix your issues. These forums are here for more than just being upset......they are a pretty helpful tool!

Check the platform specific forums. The one about PCs ofc.

Make sure all your drivers are up to date. Not just videocard drivers, but also motherboard (including CPU driver) and soundcard driver.

There is one known issue that is causing CTDs. It is a crash in the soundsystem. Check the PC-forum stickies, they have more info on it. The workaround is to change settings in the audiopanel or something (lowering frequency of rendered sound or something).

Played ~40 hours, haven't seen a single crash myself. Win7, E8500, gtx260.
