I still get a blank white page on bethesda.net. I have a recent version of Firefox, enabled cookies and java-script, yet it's still a blank white page. What gives?

Bringing an end to the 200 post thing would be wonderful.

I have come to appreciate the peace that not allowing images and media links to embed brings to things. Make a link. Click on it. Easy enough.

Syntax highlighting would be nice to have. We kind of already do with IPB's code tags, but it's not language specific.

Closing threads at 200 helps the forum stay on track. I'm betting that practice will remain.

And for example, this very thread has a new poll attached to it. This poll would never exist if we only kept to the first thread. ;)

I much prefer how the Bethesda forums have done it with the 200 post limit. I'm much more likely to read through a smaller thread with 200 post than go through one with thousands of post. Helps keeps things organized and I'm all for it.

I also think we're good without allowing images and videos posted. When forums allow this some folk tend to reply to threads with just an image or video to show how they react to a topic and not actually say anything, and that can get pretty spammy because it doesn't add anything to a discussion. Although some people still do that with just the links, it seems less prevalent. Not to mention it just makes threads appear cleaner.

Honestly, spending so much time on the Bethesda forum has made me so accustomed to all of these things that they've actually become my preferences.

Yeah, I'd love to see that rule die a death: it's silly and anachronistic. I've seen the arguments in favour many times, but in practice all it seems to do is disrupt productive discussions when they're in full-flow and dissuades people from even bothering to contribute as the limit starts to loom.

I've been on other forums who didn't have the post limit, and TBH, it's a [censored] trying to read and pay attention to 500 pages of people posting their thoughts.

I'm not saying we should keep the 200 limit, but there should be a limit somewhere, so we don't wind up with 500 pages of the same thread...and then somebody comes along and quotes another person's post from 300 pages and 3 years earlier, screwing everybody up.

I can't articulate the unadvlterated hatred I feel for the 200-post limit, specifically when applied indiscriminately to release and support threads for mods and modding tools.

Maybe they could make an exception for those specifically and keep the rest of the threads within a limit?
