So what will happen to this forum? Will it be closed or something?
So what will happen to this forum? Will it be closed or something?
Eventually yeah, they will archive it so you can still read old threads and stuff, but you won't be able to post in it.
so, how are we to go about claiming our usernames? are we going to get an e-mail? or just go to the site and register and hope no one stole our name already to discredit us?
I didn't get it at first, then I started laughing lol!
I hope we don't lose our join date because that will svck big time. Every time I visit other forums on the net, I enjoy seeing the veterans still being loyal/active in the forums. Veterans gives the community a sense of history. If we start everything from a clean slate I feel this kind of undermines Bethesda's history because new people joining TES/FO for the first time would think that all of the members started yesterday or so. The community will definitely look awkward - talking about the good ol' days with a 2015 join date. ^^
Join date will disappear, but you can add it in your profile and add a link to a picture of your profile here.
Anyone who wants to be the new Page? I will pick a new name hopefully less boring. If I had a nicer name I would have posted more
Yay, now I don't have to have the 09 by my username... Hopefully...
Well, anyone who tries to take my name will get a visit from Mjolnir. Through their head....
Nah, Thor will approve of their pillaging viking ways.
My main hope is that we will be allowed to use our own pictures as avatars and images won't be allowed. On the ESO forums you have to choose from approved avatars and they aren't very interesting and any conversation inevitably results in endless posting of boring and frequently irrelevant memes.
Battle.net does something similar, correct? You have to "unlock" avatars and what not? Could be good for those who care about ranks and fandom and what not, but not good for those of us who like to maintain their own personal identity.
I can see how it makes sense for ESO. One of the way the game makes money is by trying to sell you a unique identity through exclusive mounts and outfits. They would probably want that pursuit of individuality to trickle down all the way to their forums.
Bethesda.net: after chosing "United States" as my country and filling my dae of birth, I'm rerouted to Bethesda.net in French; I don't want this; I want to go to the original web-site, not to be directed to the French version and I don't want to have to change the language each time I login. Dammit, I hate to be forced to go where I don't want to!
I've been keeping an eye on these Bethesda.net threads, and I'm curious to see how this move goes and what the new forums will look like.. I genuinely regret not joining the forums years sooner than I did, and it almost feels like I joined too late . Still, I'd like to remain part of this community because I've enjoyed my time here, short as it's been.. so I'll take note of a few things so I'm ready when the time comes.
Yeah, I agree. And only having set avatars leads to a lot of people having the same one, thus making everyone harder to keep track of.
I know what you mean. I lurked here for a number of years before I registered and I only just started actively posting here again about 3 months ago. Before then, I posted a few times prior to Skyrim's release and then left around Fall of 2011.
I'm rerouted every time too. I'm going to use a bookmark straight to bethesda.net/#en/dashboard, but it's going to be a problem whenever I click an external link to bethesda.net.
Doesn't work for me: rerouted.
I hope the links to the forums won't redirect us to a "local" forum... I won't register my username on a French Bethesda forum.
I don't think there will be any localized forums. Other languages were never allowed here, no reason to change it, but even if they do, it will most likely be only a multilingual section of the main forum without separate registration.
I'll miss this place. But a man needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change, something sleeps inside of us and seldom awakens.
The sleeper must awaken.
When I read this I could hear Eowyn say "I am no man." I know, I'm weird.
It would be very weird, having Eowyn in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIPg4_qVO7k.
I guess it was because you used the work "man", so Eowyn just popped into my head.
