The VAST majority of oldschool Fallout fans hate Fallout 3. Let me tell you something, when Bethesda's Fallout 3 was announced, EVERYONE was claiming to be HUGE Fallout fans. And yet they did nothing but bash the games. Some even called them completely unplayable by today's standards. Fallout fans indeed. The same thing persists today. Everyone is a Fallout fan, yet nobody likes Fallout games. Except Fallout 3 of course, Fallout 3 was the perfect modern reboot the series needed! All the best aspects of Fallout and the Elder Scrolls rolled up into one awesome package! Now go to NMA or DAC and tell them that. Then come back here and cry about how mean they were to you all the while preaching your credentials as a Fallout Fan, while everyone agrees and coddles you.
To put it simply, just because you SAY you are a true Fallout fan doesn't make it true. Half of the Fallout 3 dev team never even PLAYED a Fallout game. Yet according to Todd Howard, they were all HUGE Fallout fans. Impressive eh? That you can love something you have never experienced. And before anybody says anything, NMA and DAC deserve the respect of every Fallout fan. It they don't have yours, then you are nothing but a poseur. They're the only thing that kept the series alive.
Try a shorter horse next time, mmkay? Kindly don't tell me who I should respect. I'm a fan of the game - not the community. I'm a pen and paper gamer, separating respect of the product from "the community that keeps it alive" is old hat for me.
NMA is not some inapproachable starchamber sitting in judgement of the Fallout franchise. They're just people. Same as me. Their opinion has not the slightest iota more worth than mine. I've played the same games and read the same design documents they have. So I have no intention of going there and starting a debate with them. They can have their opinion, I can have mine. As far as I'm concerned, they're a bunch of bitter, jaded people looking at the franchise through rose colored glasses. They can lie to themselves and tell each other that I've obviously never played the first two games. See, we're both happy.
Just to tell you Reitsuki, the ingame explanation for Super Mutants goes completely against pre-established canon.
Spoiler The entire Idea of the FEV Vats at the Mariposa Military Base was that they were the ONLY ONES IN THE WORLD. Bethesda completely ignored that, and people aren't happy about it.
A lot of people get worked up way too easily. I hate to tell you, but combining every design document and tidbit of information released for any fallout game to date still doesn't come close to painting a picture of "THE WORLD". Just because nobody knew about it beforehand doesn't make it's inclusion canon breaking.
