If Bethesda partnered with Bioware.

Join Bioware after that?:

That's a joke. That's not Dragon Age.
But the Dragon Age: Origins dialogue makes the game. If it was as simple as Skyrim's I wouldn't play DA:O.
The story is cool, but the game mechanics...
So BioWare for dialogue and story and Bethesda for gameworld and game mechanics equals win.

Not that it's possible though, as BioWare fell under EA, as sadly, way to many companies do.
What use do they have for EA anyway?

Note: Of course, there are other game companies too. CDProjekt, Obsidian and The Creative Assembly (if they are still around)
But it is only BioWare that comes to that list for their writing, and that's what we need.

Hmm i think some kind of marriage between dev is an interesting thought but i want too see some unusual kind of marriage who knows what role Tango Game Works could have in this thought , maybe a west loves jappan kind of love ??

Yes gameinformer had a topic about Bioware being admired by skyrims succses and yes i did read the peoples reaction on that and yes it was then i knew it was very unpopular

I'd much rather see Bethesda partner with CDProjekt.

by the way i know its totally of topic of me but anybody can tell me what exactly happened to Black isle studio? the company just vanished from the gaming market (shame as they made great games) I know about the split up but can anybody give some more detailed info on that (seeing as we where talking about Bethesda and BioWare i couldn;t help it, Fallout is under Bethesda's artillery and Baldur's gate falls under Bioware and since both where of Black isle studios devision i couldn't help but ask about it)

Bioware's storytelling is great, but they utterly svck at lore. BG and KOTOR lived from the existing, very well defined settings, ME and DA are full of inconsistenties, so I'd prefer Bethesda Lore (which is one of the best in the computer game industry) with Bioware's storytelling.
Bioware good at storytelling? Neverwinter Nights 1 solo campaign is really lame. Thank God Obsidian took care of the story of the second opus.

If there's a partner to be, that's Obsidian.

It would be the best RPG ever.

No, not really. It would however enhance the character animation I suppose.

This. Fallout New Vegas, despite it's glitches, told a great story with great gameplay. The perfect combination would be Bethesda doing the gameworld while Obsidian does the writing. That would be perfect.

Yeah no. With EA having an iron grip on Bioware, I wouldn't trust EA to try to do the same to Bethesda.

I wouldn't like a Bio/Beth relationship at all. A Beth and Obsidian relationship I could handle.

There is one problem, Bethesda and Bioware are the two worst companies when it comes to gameplay design.

Yeah, I would have been down with this idea years ago. The Bioware of yesterday and Bethesda would make a great couple. BiowEAr and Bethesda though? I'm not so sure.

If we are talking about an independent Bioware outside the clutchs of EA and back to their roots then i would be excited. However the Bioware of today is a shade of it's former self and dies a little more each day as EA chokes the life out of them.

I don't want a pre-written story in an RPG, just a well-written scenario in which I can provide my character's own story. And a good kit for modding in the bits I need for that story.

There's a big difference between someone writing the past for you, and having them write the future as well.

What I'd really take from Bioware or Obsidian is companions, I fear they screwed the lore trying to pull a decent story. Not that TES games have good MQs, though they blend well in the lore.

forget bioware. i want a game made by bethesda and obsidian. bethesda can make the gameworld and obsidian can do everything else. i want valve doing the QA though since they are the only developer that seems to know how to really find bugs.

Bioware-made lore is usually ridiculously cheesy, and the stories are stale and generic, but the actual *telling* of that lame story is great, even in NWN1. Bethesda is the opposite: Fantastic lore, great stories, but not much actual storytelling. Of course that storytelling comes at a price: character freedom, and it gets worse with each game: In BG we had to play an orphaned youth that grew up in a library, in ME or DA2 we have a fixed character with predefined background and can change just a few traits.

Yes, Obsidian's storytelling is on par with Biowares, but their games have their own story flaws, and a mild case of Troikaitis as well. (Three more or less half-baked releases, three different publishers, responsible was always the publisher's strict deadline.)
