If Bethesda partnered with Bioware.

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:32 am

Im just throwing this idea out here. Beth is good at making great open worlds ad bioware is good at making good stories and memorable characters, so what if beth and bioware teamed up to make an RPG game. It would be the best ever! Bethesda can make an open world and can focus on making all the mechanics of the game great while Bioware focuses on writing quests, dialogue, and characters. It would be the best RPG ever.

I realized that my title is a bit misleading....I probably should have put "If" before all of that. can any mods change it please?

I'm afraid that if they partner with BioWare the stench of Dragon Age II would infect Bethesda like a putrid filth.

I was worrying about that...lol Bioware is starting to be a failing company because it is EA's lapdog now.

I don't think it would work very well. Bioware are too action orientated, and their conversation wheel wouldn't fit in with a TES game at all, which is quite important in advancing the story in Bioware games.

i quite enjoyed mass effect 2. the crew (in essence, your companions) had some really good stories for their loyalty missions. and though i played ME2 a year ago, i still remember just about all of the crew and their missions.

you could also suggest obsidian. that's actually within the realm of possibility.

BioWare did make Dragon Age 2 terrible, but other than that i can not say i have seen a BioWare RPG i did not like.
It would be quite sweet actually, think about it. Bethesda world with BioWare storytelling.

Bioware is gone now, EA bought them. We don't want EA involved with TES.

Bioware's storytelling is great, but they utterly svck at lore. BG and KOTOR lived from the existing, very well defined settings, ME and DA are full of inconsistenties, so I'd prefer Bethesda Lore (which is one of the best in the computer game industry) with Bioware's storytelling.

I don't know about that idea. It doesn't seem like it would work too well together...If people are complaining about glitchiness now...

Well i was talking about the next Elder Scrolls game.
The lore in the Elder Scrolls series is one of my favorites and the only thing i think is lacking is good writing and character development.

This is shamefully true.

the thing that I wanted to get across was: bethesda's open world and lore, with Bioware's storytelling. That is all.
and I do know that bioware is a dead company now, they are EA's b*tch now so there is no hope for them.....

Before EA this would have been a fine idea (in fact I've mentioned it many times in the past).

But Bioware is just another studio within the EA machine now. They are forced to put certain game mechanics into their games, they have to hold to tight deadlines and they have to work with low budgets. I wouldn't want a TES game exposed to all of that.

This.

Whatever was left of BioWare is gone now. Forever. Their great genius will be infected and there is no way to cleanse it.

As a gamer with more than 20 years experience and having played pretty much all of biowares titles and really liked them I can say that its nothing more than a myth that they make better stories than bethesda.

The story in Skyrim is very good (lore, dragonborn, the civil war, alduin). The story in Fallout 3 was even better than the story in Fallout and Fallout 2 (which are amongst the top five best games ever made).

It is true that you can give bethesda critique for their choices. Like in Skyrim no way to wipeout thieves guild, or ending the db without murder, not to many alternate ways to finish quests etc. But this can be done with any game.

Bethesdas main story has since Fallout 3 been of the utmost quality ( i felt more for the lone wanderer than I did for the child of bhaal etc)

What?!?

That would be like Sanrio Digital teaming up with Typhoon Games to make "Hello Kitty: Online".... wait.

Oh yeah, nevermind.

yeah id luv this too, but like others have said, ea stink, great thing about tes is they seem to take as long as they need to make a great game, im sure they have deadlines but there not as tight, dragon age 2 wasnt that bad, i liked it, but compared to origins it wasnt great, it was just good, but the sickest thing was reused areas thats unaceptable

Pretty much. Dragon Age: Origins was such a steaming pile of Generic that I had to wonder if got the same actual game as the rest of the World. Didn't even bother with DA2 after paying for the first one.

Non the less It would be interesting to see some co-operation between BioWare and Bethesda, the results might be astonishing (from the optimistic point of view). I'm a huge fan of Bioware and bethesda and i think both companies make projects to be remembered through the generations. About the failure of DAII, as other company Bioware is not immune to unsuccess , i'm shure they will compensate for that in the near future , lets not forget all the other games they have made, games like Dragon Age: Origins , Mass effect1 and 2 , and many others of witch i'm sure you'v heard of.

It would be terrible. Bethesda is focused on quality (albeit buggy quality) and Bioware is focused on the gaming equivalent of fast food.
