Bethesda please add my name. Was your name in the game?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 2:40 am

Of course my name wasn't in the game. What a surprise, just like when I was a kid my name was never on those pencils or what not. :P Here I was hoping maybe my name out of a 1000 would have been added but sadly it was not. :( I take it Bethesda doesn't even look at it's own forums since I was here since 2002.

So I am curious, was your name in the game? If so what was it? If your name wasn't in the game, what name would you want Bethesda add to it? Here is me trying to see if Bethesda will add our names to the game in a patch of good will. Foolish? Yes, I know, but heck I wanted to try. It's my childhood dream of finally seeing my name on something. :P

So what name if it wasn't in the game, do you want added. (Please don't list a name that would be against Bethesda rules or this thread locked) Who knows maybe Bethesda will do so. Please Help G Staff. :P

*edit* forgot to add the name I wanted was Davor

I thought Vincent might be common enough to make the cut, but sadly it wasn't meant to be. I figured Vincents simply didn't exist in Boston, till I read so many terminals that mentioned Vincents. Ah well, so long as [censored]face made the cut :sadvaultboy:

Yep. My name was there, but it's not like I would ever use it...

First name : Ace (NO)
Last name : Quinn (YES)
I really thought it would be the other way around...since one of the Atom Cats, or maybe a gunner, actually called me "ace" at one point.

But, since only one rather tedious NPC bothers to use the names anyway...doesn't matter much to me either way.

This is not an issue for me. I don't "play as myself." I play as my character. I would never think of using my real name in any roleplaying game. So I never expected the game to have my real-life name, not would I want it to.

I haven't bought the game yet. But when I do, I intend to ignore this whole name business.

You don't live in a post-apocalyptic hellhole with frequent raider attacks, frequent mercenary attacks, houseflies twice the size of your head, and the niggling feeling that your mother has suddenly acted bizarrely polite lately. Even if your template was yourself, how you react in this new environment, scenarios completely alien to you, is valid roleplay.

Of course my name for my male character was there...

But my female characters name was not...it is probably inappropriate to post tho..

Edit: I can't say I've ever heard or seen the name Davor before...interesting name OP.

Every character I make is unique unto themselves. They are their own entity and not an extension of myself. I do not live vicariously through them. I travel with them as nothing short of a spirit guide and thus mainly play in 3rdP.

After a couple of years, when and if I decide to buy it, the names created will be as unique as the characters. I would never name them Mr. 5 nor would I expect the game to recognize their character name.

Hmm.

/glances at name list.

Well, if I'd used my name, it would have been in there.

The name I picked for my character, however, wasn't in the list..... which is good, because I was trying to find a name that wouldn't be in the list. If it had been, I would have considered it a failure. :P (Cassandra)

....looking at that list, there's some super-odd ones. Cass/Cassie/Cassandra aren't, but Casserly is? Really? And some of the "silly" options just don't seem like they'd sound right. Like, ****Face flows like a name, something someone would call someone. But just **** by itself? Eh.

edit: heh, interesting, some of the pop-culture-inspired names that I can see in there. River/Natasha/Buffy/Sydney (all, badass action girl TV/Movie characters). Tetsuo and Kaneda (Akira). Kal El, Picard, Plissken, Corvo, Springsteen, Bruckheimer, Furiosa, Katniss, Django, Riddike..... (they've got Mal, Zoe, River, & Kaylee, but no Jayne, Book, Inara, or Simon :P)

edit2: assuming that list is accurate, of course.

Nope, but consider Im not a American Im not super surprised.

Fun fact, apparently Codsworth voice actor thought that "boobies" was the funniest name to record lines for.

When I make my main, based on myself I usually go with the alias Maxwell. This time I decided to chance it and use my real name, Alex.

Maxwell isn't on the list (Max is) but Alex was.

But I usually travel with piper so my new name is Blue....

My character's name was on there, Leon, I was quite happy with that. Looking at the list on the wiki it seems my real name is on there, Joseph, which is great.

Both are somewhat uncommon names, I should hang around Codsworth some more, maybe even bring him on adventures. Have barely heard him speak since the start of the game.

Codsworth can call you by your player character's name, if it's something vulgar or a pop culture reference or if you got lucky with a real name that somehow managed to squeeze in.

Otherwise, you're Sir/Ma'am.

My name is there, but not the way I spell it. I don't think I'd ever name a character after myself though.

My name was not in the game, which doesn't surprise be considering how uncommon it is. Doesn't bother me too much considering I don't name my characters after myself.

A variation of my name is there and my brother's name is there, but I am surprised that my mother's name, Jane, is not there.

I wouldn't use my own RL name in an RPG, even if I did I am 99% sure it wouldn't be included since it's a nordic name.

Both of my character's names were included though, Ronald and Angel.

It was said they'd be using the 1000 most common English names but if you look at the list there are some really weird ones. Bilodeau, Carofano, Gutierrez, Mejillones...where do they get some of these o_O?

Given the number of . . . aherm! . . . 'vulgar' names that they paid some guy to deliver in a fake Butler accent, I am guessing that the Bethesda guys and gals are a pretty fun loving and cool bunch :nerd:

I think that is what I enjoy most about the Fallout series (both Obsidian's and Bethesda's imaginings of it): the inane humor.

Can anyone think of a game with such a classic character as "Trashcan Karla!?"

My name IS in the game but spelled very weirdly, so it didn't work.

Apparently you have to spell Raphael as "Rafael" so codsworth gets it, even though they sound exactly the same, nice foresight on that, very intelligently designed.
