Probably, but your avatar certainly has the appropriate response.
The Minutemen are the fail-safe ending. No matter what actions you take, there is always the Minutemen to finish the game.
Sure, but when you're locked in to a certain ending (say BoS or Institute), surely you should be able to wipe them out, rather than ignore them?
True, if you haven't saved the Minutemen yet and finished the game with any of the other factions, then you should be able to wipe them out. If you have saved the Minutemen, then they become the Sole Survivor's faction even if Preston needs to be exiled to Spectacle Island so he doesn't say "There is another settlement that needs your help." Might become a popular mod once the GECK comes out. A better method would have been to join up with the Gunners and have the Gunners as another failsafe faction. It actually seems like the Gunners was supposed to be more impressive than just another Raider faction in green. So join up with the Minutemen if you want to play a good character and join up with the Gunners if you want to play an evil or mercenary character.
I kill them when I see them on the road. Easy caps and scrap. LOL
I hate Gunners. I kill any I run across.
Raiders on the other hand. Yeah, I could deal with them.
Options are good but assuming if you hate the Minutemen that you have never helped rebuild them then unlike killing other factions there is nothing to be gained by killing one guy and his handful of settlers who are hanging around in the top corner of the map.
Still would have been preferable to do as we wish but I understand why Bethesda did not make that happen as it would be pointless to the story.
There should have been a speech check when Preston offers the position to the player to convince him to abandon the minutemen. Convincing him would end the minutemen quests and make him available as a follower. This option in the game would have opened up a non-faction option for certain events as sturges is still available.
True that would give the option of Preston as a companion without having to join the Minutemen but considering how many companion options exist in the game I would be surprised if many players despise the Minutemen but love Preston so it would be another option which is always good but it is not a big deal that would likely be used that often, so I understand why Bethesda ignored that potential option.
1-> Because
2-> Exactly, they're MY faction, they belong to me, so I can do what I want with them, and I want to extinguish their consciousness
Most of the hate for Preston comes from his constant assault on the player with radiant quests, if he had been just a follower with no affiliation I'm sure that wouldn't be near as bad. My point was geared more to being able to simply end the minutemen without murdering them or being forced to avoid them while also giving the player a more faction free way to play.
The Minutemen can't be purged in the case that they become unruly about their position as the junior member of the Brotherhood/Minutemen Alliance as overseen by The Sentinel?
Kinda thought that was a option, but should they cause conflict in some future DLC or something I am sure I can figure out a way to dissolve them. Modding tools are coming soon after all.
I tired killing the minute men off from the beginning of the game. I think every character should be killable.
But what is there to wipe out if you don't rebuild it? And if you do the only person to kill is yourself.
I agree but we know people will complain because missed out on something by killing everyone.
that is jsut wrong from a game mechanic perspective.
Anyway just wait and u will be able to kill it
So just Preston. Everyone else are just settlers who Preston are protecting. I don't see the point in destroying a already dead faction .
Exactly, if you hate the Minutemen then they never have to exist again unless you count one guy wandering around Sanctuary as a faction, as without the player choosing to help them they will never rebuild.
More choices are always good but this is really not a Bethesda failure in my opinion.
Then don't rebuild it. Besides the NCR every faction has a stupid theme imo.
Mean MM took out super mutants before. Also the BoS are always getting their ass handed to them.
