Bethesda please do not waste DLC on settlement Features

Post » Mon Dec 14, 2015 11:05 pm

I want new lands to explore, like The Pitt or Point Lookout, settlement building is a nice side quest but I want good questing/exploration DLC. Maybe you can open up other areas outside of the map too like you the SW corner.

Bethesda - Please use DLC for settlement features, in addition to new areas and new quest content. The settlement system is one of the best parts of the game in the opinions of many of your customers.

It's hardly a waste.

Sure, I expect some story/exploration DLC.

I also expect a few enhancements, one of which may be settlements.

They will release more than 1 DLC. Why not have both?

Bethesda - please DO put resources into settlements in your future DLC.

I'm all for new lands. New lands are great. But I want more out of a roleplaying game than just killing. Settlements are the best thing Bethesda has added to any of their games in years. It adds a tiny bit of actual non-violent roleplaying content. That is an improvement. And I think it should be expanded upon.

Seriously, people love the settlement system in this game. Not everyone does, and I totally understand that. But there's a very good reason that there are so many "check out my new build" threads and threads asking for advice on how to most efficiently build defense networks and such on here, and elsewhere. It's a lot of fun and it adds a huge element to the game that previous Fallout games didn't have. I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and they're amazing games. However, I think Fallout 4 is an even better game. The settlement system is one of my biggest reasons for having this opinion.

Settlements are awesome when they get attacked, badly it happens not much. ^^ Most awesome Thing was a fight at Level 116 and my EXP Bar got half filled. ^^

Settlements is a major part of the game, keeps the quests rolling in for a start. Loads of people play with that feature. DLC for settlements I would hope will be coming to us - and with massive expansion way beyond what the modders already provide as well.

I don't agree with the OP. I would hope for settlement DLC (massive, and not just Institute skins which modders can already give us, or a patch for the mess they are now).

While I would hope to see that any content wouldn't JUST be stuff for settlements, I don't mind at all if they add things to the settlements with any DLC that comes out. The sole exception would be if they put in maybe a villain group that decides to try to prey on your settlements while you gather clues to track them down and dispense most ungodly justice upon them. :)

Considering there are a bunch of mods for settlement building already available and most likely many more to come, it seems like a waste. By the time DLC is being released the mods will already be available on consoles, so that isn't even an issue.

Hopefully DLC includes a ton of story, quests, new lands, weapons, armor, power armor, and settlement stuff...that's what I want in DLC.

Scrapping material (cars, tree logs, tires etc) should be a rclick or keybind function on the PC, available anywhere on the map without having to go into workshop mode. I would make them respawning nodes like plants, so that the wasteland didn't end up looking boring.

Bethesda could you fix the bugs with the settlements, then release new features through DLC.........the exploring new places would be good as well.

It is an issue because we have no idea what mods we will be given.I suspect it'll be very few of them.I have no real faith that these mods will come to console in a timely manner either(the few that'll be chosen),because i've heard this same type of PR guff for other games released on both platforms, how at the beginning sony were telling everyone how pc friendly they would be this generation with far fewer restrictions placed on pc developers and how pc/ps4 multiplayer games would be synched. It was bull,i played warframe and warthunder since they first released for ps4 and they were always well behind pc because of (mainly) sonys quality control/cert process or whatever the heck it is,ruining attempts at cross platform play as well as being stuck with bugs and lack of content for ages.

Maybe i'd have a lot more faith if Beth could actually put out some meaningful info on the who;le mods to console thing, but i don't see anything but vagueness.

While I do agree with this, my opinion might be different than yours. You might be advocating for a Hearthfire style DLC that focuses only on Settlements and have other DLC that involve going to different locations. However, my opinion is that the DLC that involves going to different locations includes Settlement content.

So if there is a Ronto DLC, then there is the standard loot like weapons, armor, etc, but you can also take Settlement items with you. So if Ronto doesn't use the rustic wood and steel style that the Commonwealth uses, then you can build Ronto-style buildings. As well as Ronto-style furniture, statues, decorations, etc. After all, you are going to an Eastern Canadian Wasteland so it is natural to take the architectural style with you.

They didn't seem that vague.. Mods will come to console shortly after the GECK release. Mod authors can upload their mods to a website that Bethesda will approve for console. Mods that include nudity or assets from other games won't be allowed. Mods are confirmed for both consoles too.

PS4 said they'd have cross-platform gaming? I remember that being one of the main reasons I bought an Xbox One instead of a PS4, along with mods, dev kit, etc.

This is how I see it as well. With the talent that lies within the modding community, one can be of the utmost confident that any settlement additional features that can be thought of will be available. Most of these mods will rival the quality of official mods released by the developers. I would be polar opposite of worried and be excited of what is to come.

That will completely relieve Bethesda from devoting time, management and resources to these things and allow them to focus on large expansions.

I like this Settlement Feature, but OP is right. This Feature just need some Fixes. I never would pay for just some Fixes and the little Things we just want are not worth to make a DLC out of it.

I don't think that would be a waste at all. So Betheada please spend a DLC going further indepth with settlement features, on the same DLC expand the map, add more NPC settlements of varying allegiance and put into place a robust way for us to create our own faction.

The settlement system is a wonderful part of the game and inspires all sorts of creativity and roleplaying. I would love to see it expanded with many new features in a DLC. That's not to say I don't want to see other stuff too, but I love settlements and love the variety of activity they offer in terms of gameplay.

You just aren't thinking big enough. I imagine for you a settlement DLC would contain some new furniture, a couple new building prefabs, and bug fixes.

What about:
Creating a new faction based on your characters ideals?
Establishing a raider base and sending out raids against other settlements?
The ability to have diplomatic actions against other settlements?
The chance to shape the Commonwealth to either your iron fisted rule, see it prosper under your benevolent leadership, or raze it to the ground with your raids?

Yes they did say it,it was primarily why i got the ps4 along with warthunder and warframe(at the time the ps4 games catalogue was pretty rubbish anyway...heck it still is kinda) I distinctly remember the buzz surrounding pc games coming to ps4 and all the pr nonsense that was spouted about how updates would be synched or so close as to allow cross platforming multiplayer and sony being super open to pc gaming(ok it was a long time ago,my wording may be different there:P ) I played them both for around 6 months with no progress towards what was originally promised before un-installing the lot.
