Bethesda please do something with Marriage.

Honestly, this whole marriage concept is kinda ridiculous. The whole thought of getting married in a virtual world makes me feel lame and desprate for a relationship. I can't believe you guys want to hug kiss and sleep with something that is not real. However Implementing marriage is not totally off in videogames like skyrim, But There are limitations on how much sixual themes game developers can implement into a videogame without taking heavy flak from the community. You guy's have to realize you aren't the only one's playing videogames. If rated M games where only purchased by advltS the number of sales bethesda earned would free fall. Not all parent's blindly buy games for their kids, and the ones who do still have some sense of resposibility won't let their kids play games with very heavy sixual themes, gore, and sadistic acts. In fact, I can't remember any game that had very inappropiate behavior.(game's rated A).

I expect alot of :flamethrower: for my views but this is my opinion.

Lol, here we go, most of every one here is an adolesent or young advlt and try countering my argument by saying killing people in a videogame is worst than having sixual relations in a videogame. You see, there is something called social acceptance. Videogames are typically all about beating someone up or killing something, although there are some puzzel games in the mix, most videogames are typically centered around beating people up and killing stuff. For the most part six in a videogame is a really rare sight. Most men have morals and know what is "wrong" and what is "right". You guy's know deep down what your asking for is wrong.

performing sixual actions, or running nvde in public is NOT socially "acceptable". You may say that killing people is alot worse, well I agree (IRL). Videogame wise it is completly fine and acceptable (people like the Idea of living in a violent action packed world, I know I do), In a videogame I would have no problem killing a deer with my bare hands knowing I did not really harm anything, IRL I could never bring myself to doing such an evil act. Why? beacuse I like most men know right from wrong. IRL Having "private" six is socially accepted and killing is not. It is vise versa in video games. Don't believe me look at most videogames and you will see light touches and refrences to sixual themes.

(pormography is looked down upon for a reason) You guys must realize people make videogames based on what is socially acceptable and their Morals. Skyrim is a great example of a game that follows what is socially acceptable beacuse they know the flak they'll take and how much their game will suffer if it does not fit in with the MAJORITY community's views.

If skyrim had everything you guys are pointing at, the media would have skyrim cast into the hall of shame.

The only question I have about this marriage feature is, can you just avoid it? I would rather just skip it because here I am about to go searching for Dragons to kill its not like I intend to spend a lot of time at home with a wife...sheesh..

Nobody buys Skyrim for one thing. It's a multitude of things that all go together for an overall experience.

which is why they can't all be elaborate and deep
I for one don't mind they decided to focus their attention elsewhere
this isn't the sims for crying out loud you're supposed to be out adventuring

oh come on man
not that I would want the marriage feature to be expanded upon or have them implement six in the game (couldn;t care less tbh)
but you can't really defend the socially acceptable position when they go crazy over a [censored] in gta 4 or a "six scene" in mass effect 2
plenty of movies out there with six in it and you never hear a soul about that
yet when some1 does it in a videogame they're corrupting our youth by squandering moral values
that is a double standard right there, and not one that can be defended with any logical arguments

This isn't a dungeon crawler either, if it was I'd want better combat. Wife, Husband, Followers whatever need more life to them! The Dog in Dragon Age Origins had more of a personality than most of your follower combine. Do you not see a problem with that?

I think your barking up the wrong tree.

Not everyone is asking for full on digital six, openly anyway.

SIMS has got away with whoohoo or whatever for years. It's in no way pormographic, if anything it's funny.

BTW, socially exeptable of not, if not for porm there would be no internets.

I think it's funny that you can send em to the kitchen, but can't give em a kiss myself lol.

I think Dragon age Origins does this very tastefully and very well. Beth tried to go half-in on this, which doesn't anger me, but they could have done better.

Sounds better than real life marriage. Come home, she asks you for money and you end up eating a TV dinner which provides no bonuses to anything but gas and indigestion.

Dunno, that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. I'd personally rather they remove the feature all together, but I can understand where people are coming from.

If a feature is worth putting into a game, it's worth doing well. Their point of marriage being pointless robot npc is completely valid. Keep in mind, most of these people are normal advlts playing a video game. They understand advlt themes, relationships and so on, and they're not seeking a "replacement", just immersion. (Different strokes for different folks.) The fact is that this game shouldn't be marketed towards or made for anyone other than individuals of age to buy it. What's the worst that happens if a pre-teen plays the game, gets married and peck the cheek of their character's spouse after bringing him or her flowers?

I mean, really?

Let's call this what it really is. It's an incomplete feature they didn't get the time to finish, or chose not to finish.

They already did fade to black six scenes in Fallout NV with prosttutes, but somehow six in marriage is more controversial or inappropriate? I find logic lacking in that conclusion.

Once again, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Very well stated, I second this opinion.

I called this so many times pre-release. People heard that there was going to be a marriage feature and right away everyone is speculating about relationship dynamics, having children, emotional ties... and every time I said it's going to be just a very basic, rudimentary game system that isn't very deep or involved. Marriage in-game is exactly what I figured it would be - just a superficial "feature" added as an afterthought.

Makes me feel better about myself for having been right about something. :)

Was six outlandish in Witcher and Witcher 2?

Was six outlandish in Dragonage 1 and 2?

Was six outlandish in Mass Effect 1 and 2?

etc

With so many examples of not only it successfully being done, but tastefully can you really say it's outlandish?

The biggest issue I have with it is not that it was done, but done poorly, If you're going to do something do it right or don't do it at all. Same with your followers should of put a lot more thought into them I haven't seen so many uninteresting NPCs since BG 1.

All I really want besides the current marriage interactions is the ability to show some kind of affection between the PC and spouse. Even just a kiss or handholding would be fine. As it is, I'm happy to wait until the modding community gets the CK.

it's not outlandish at all
it's just that personally I don't care for it
have plenty of high quality porm I could watch don't need some crappy digital stuff
and i'm not arguing this specific case (since you weren't either you were defending the position mostly held by the media)

what is that supposed to mean?
are you implying six does not sell?
porm is the biggest industry on the internet
and besides I'm not even talking full frontal here
I mean the side boob humping you could see in pretty much every thriller or even romantic comedy out there

how's that an argument?
I don't go around killing bandits all day long IRL either, doesn't mean I wouldn't like to do it in a videogame

the fact of the matter is there's simply no way to logically defend the double standard the media holds when it comes to six in videogames
it really is the media mostly (american media at that) and perhaps conservative people like yourself, but as much as you wish it would be that is not an accurate reflection of today's society.

you my friend are definitely in the minority on this one
and i'm guessing american as well since us open minded Europeans just laugh at your knee jerk reaction to anything sixual in videogames
the fox news item about mass effect was literally a point of ridicule in the dutch media

again I'm not saying I would want six to be a major part of skyrim since that's not really what the game is about IMO
but there really is no moral or logical way to defend the position that six in videogames is wrong considering the sixual laden content of other media (not just movies, music and art as well)

And yes I can honestly say games like those are not a common sight,

BTW I was refering to six in TES as being outlandish not games in general. Sorry about your misunderstanding about what I was aiming at. I'll be sure to make it absoloutley clear ;)

I agree, if handled tastefully a little woopee in a M rated video game can be a hoot. I do find it interesting how some folks are perfectly ok with the opening execution sequence of the game, but are opposed to kissing and hugging between spouses in a virtual marriage. The way Dragon Age handled the whole sixual themed activities were perfect . A little more RP elements involving marriage in no way degrades the game to a SIMS level.

I personally would like to have the option to have a child and raise it up to be a warrior to accompany me on quests.
