Bethesda Response

Well, their idea to re-validate the files does SOMETHING, at least. It finds 1 file that's messed up. Downloads something. And then when I re-validate again, same thing. Basically just a loop of re-validating and downloading the same file over and over. At least it confirms that there is something in the file structure that's wonky, but they probably should fix the re-downloading of the file.

Exactly. Obviously the servers that the validation is checking with knows what the file structure is supposed to be.....so why doesn't the file structure of what's being distributed match that checklist? Seems a bit....well....I guess I don't know a nice word for what describes that little move, lol.

Well, keep at it, Bethesda. Hopefully you'll fix New Vegas better than you did Fallout 3 (see: didn't fix at all).

They released a patch so quickly because they were probably already working on it. Which means they released this to the public knowing there were major problems.

Unfortunately Day Zero patches have become pretty common in the gaming industry. IMO the publishers should just push back the release dates until the major bugs are fixed.

Even if the major issues only effect 20% of the people(and based on my reading this forum....its way higher) in my world that is unacceptable.

To be fair, it's impossible to get any idea of the percentage of people having problems by looking at tech forums. Every game release I've ever seen since help-tech-forums have existed have had their tech forums full of posts about issues. It really isn't any indication of a percentage...especially when you consider the thousands of copies sold.

So many problems just can't be ignored. This should not have been released Tuesday, thats the bottom line. I would have preferred they waited till it was properly tested.

I agree. Bethesda should have pushed back the release date until the major issues were fixed. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm in the industry nowadays.
