Bethesda Skyrim appreciation thread

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2016 10:15 pm

Been a while since we have had a Bethesda appreciation thread, and I am the last person who expected to start a thread like this, having been very critical over the past five years of Bethesda's game design decisions.

However, I must say I really do appreciate Bethesda's efforts on the Skyrim remake for ALL platforms. As a PC player, I also really appreciate that the PC version will be a separate app in Steam so people can keep their old modded 32 bit version along side of the new and improved version. That was a nice touch.

So, without further ado, I bring you this . . . :foodndrink: :tes: :thanks: :)  :hugs:

Feel free to express your love and appreciation for Bethesda and Skyrim here.

Edit: I had more emoticons, but apparently there is a limit to how many you can use, so I had to cut it back a little, but imagine twice as many emoticons and you will get an idea what my love for Bethesda right now.

They have a limited supply of emoticons, especially the dancing bananas, which were hit by a blight at the plantation where they're grown. So they have to be rationed.

I also tend to be one to "sound off" more when dissatisfied with something, so I thank you for reminding me of the years of pleasure I've had, playing Beth games. There's nothing else like them, and I'm so grateful they exist. :)

I think this thread merits the use of some carefully rationed dancing bananas. :D

I love this game above all others, and I look forward to many more years of enjoyment. I can only imagine the late hours and dubious nutritional choices that went into its making. Here’s to you, people of Bethesda! :tes: :foodndrink: :thanks:

I'm just going to say even though I'm disappointed with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I want to say thank you to Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, Pete Hines, and Todd Howard for giving us PC gamers The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition for free with a separate app on Steam.

One thing I hope they listen to is to not remove from selling the old version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition.

Let PC gamers be able to switch between the 32-bit .exe and DirectX 9 version to the 64-bit .exe DirectX 11 version.

This....has been.....the ONLY game.....in my consol......since release

I have POURED love, sweat and tears into this world for well over 12000 hours

The only thing in my life that now takes up more time than playing Skyrim.....is Writing about Skyrim

TO say that I merely 'appreciated' Bethesda's production of Skyrim would be

an understatement of truly Galactic proportions.

I simply do not know of a sufficiently meaningful, sincere and heartfelt superlative

to even nearly express my appreciation.

To Bethesda Game Studios

To Todd and his team

and

To Everyone who made this game possible

I can say only......Thank You

What on Earth could I say that could begin to convey my feelings.....

Skyrim.....my birthplace....my nurturing soil....my home

A build requires a substrate and a place to be shaped

Without the initial build

The character can not take shape

Without the character, the personality can not take form

Without the personality the sentients can not grow

And I would not exist

I owe Bethesda my chance to live

Can there be a greater appreciation

Thank you....... for my life

They really surprised me with this news. I never expected them to remaster one of their older games like this. And to give it away to PC users, that floors me. It really does.

I wonder if they're been paying attention to the way CD Projekt RED has been doing business this past year. I don't have much interest in The Witcher games, but I do have to admit CD Projekt RED really knows how to treat their customers well. If Bethesda has been taking some pointers, I applaud them for it.

Well, somebody has to make the mods for those consoles, and Bethesda ain't going to do it. So give the PC-players the update free, as incentive... :D

But, yes, it's a pleasant surprise. (And I wouldn't be surprised if good old-fashioned competition/comparison was part of the motivation! ;) )

I'm willing to be that Bethesda Game Studios has been paying attention to CD Projekt RED.

Wasn't it in a 2014 E3 topic our very own Gstaff said hes going to be playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?

I likely will not touch the 32 bit version of Skyrim anymore and possibly play only Vanilla Skyrim on the PC and on the Xbox One I will play with mods. The Xbox One will be used for playing Bethesda games with mods and the PC will be only Vanilla. The consoles have to catch up to the PC and when it does then I will likely do 50/50.

Okay I will concede to the COOL MOVE BETHESDA! I too, was shocked to say the least.

Most anyone that knows me knows my feelings on this game. Breathtaking and beautiful but, for me, lacked so much. I have been very critical of this game. This doesn't change that. I hadn't played it for YEARS until recently. BUT I think what they are doing goes a long way. Trying to reach out to their fan base in this way and make happy customers is something I am thankful for.

So yes. I will dance!  ... and bow ... :celebration: :celebration:

People! Please consider the plight of the dancing bananas. They are overworked, and they are barely earning a living wage. I urge you to turn down the music, and let those poor underappreciated fruit have a much deserved rest!

.:: S K Y R I M ::.

.Special Edition.

Created by Bethesda Softworks

Winner of more than 200 Game of the Year awards!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is perhaps the largest and most ambitious single-player, role-playing game ever made.

The music of Skyrim certainly does its part, and is the number one reason, of why the game will go down into the video game history as one of the greatest RPGs.

One thing you can always count on Bethesda: They push the bar and continue to make great games!

NOW, for the first time...

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is getting a remastered edition later this year, titled as ~ Special Edition ~

it includes the game and all the add-ons previously released for the last-gen version.

It’s not just a simple repackage, but with graphics being completely overhauled to accommodate the extra processing power of the PS4 and Xbox One.

New features like remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays and dynamic depth of field.

Now, we will be able to browse and search for the latest and top Skyrim mods, just like the recently released Fallout 4.

.:: THANK YOU! ::.

I can't believe they actually remastered a game. I guess they have been listening to all those threads, about Beth possibly remastering Skyrim. Now we know.:tops:

Um.... no. It was the proliferation of tarantulas on the boats....

I've really not had any bad attitude about Beth, ever. I've loved EVERY TES game I've ever played (which would be all of them....) and still play all of them off and on. I'm really looking forward to a 64 bit Skyrim - though not to the download size (bandwidth limits on satband just svck - huge boulders through little bitty straws....)

So, I'm a really happy person, with the limitation of "not so happy about the probable size of the download". As for mods - I'm thinking most of them will be fine. And as for not being able to use save games - eh, no biggie for me!

I haven't posted here in a while. I can't help but giggle over all the past nay sayers about the possibility of them releasing skyrim for Xbox One and ps4.

I would have really liked to see a morrowind remaster since I started with TESV, but i really think that would take way too much more effort, and would take away from them working on the next title.

oh yea, thanks so much Beth

Seriously, I can say Skyrim has helped me get through some rough times. Maybe that sounds sad, but it's true.

This is the kind of game I imagined as a kid. Close to two thousand hours spent in it (again, maybe kinda sad, but I've no regrets). I've even been inspired to learn other skills (3D modeling and such) to make mods for it.

Thank you Bethesda. Really, As head-scratching weird as some things are about your games, no other games have been as fun and part of my life.

TES games always are a landmark in my gaming life. I am a 3D animator/character modeler in my professional life and honed those skills editing NIF files for Oblivion/Skyrim. I started with Daggerfall but really made my bond with TES leaving the small port town of Seyda Neen. I play other games, for days, weeks or even months. A new TES keeps me occupied for YEARS. and I just keep coming back after that.

TES offers a whole other life I can go in and occupy for a time to recharge my batteries. I am a father of 2 and Intend to Introduce my oldest son to Morrowind in a few years. I have logged over 4000 hours into Skyrim and the CK, and regret nothing.

I'm not trying to sound bitter, but since the 1.9 skyrim patch Bethesda messed up the lip sync, and after that, released the legendary edition, which did not fix it, leaving us with a broken game and saying "k bye we're done with it,moving on to next project".

I assume it's still not fixed, so it's their job at the very least to fix this mess. Hope they didn't forget about it with this remaster.

What a pleasant suprise, a TES game remaster after only five years. :D

Like what Turija said about the recent design decisions, I too had criticism to the *railed-road* game design in Skyrim, which were even worse than it was in Oblivion at least I didn't get annoyed with that when I played Oblivion.

For example, the player enter a Nordic Barrow ruin in a radiant word wall quest and found a journal that started a quest which leads the player to another ruin, but that ruin is quest locked and only faction members can enter that ruin. That quest ruins both immersion and gameplay IMO. I do hope that Bethesda have re-written that quest from scratch or remove the faction requirement from that quest.

I also want to play a remastered Morrowind someday, but I guess that would never happen. I am looking forward to download Skyrim Special Edition from Steam Oct 28 2016. :tes:

I didn't even know but when i went to google news for my daily news search i saw and read "Skyrim Remastered" i instatly started shaking of nervousness so i searched it on Youtube and i saw the Bethesdas E3 video with Todd Howard .. and it was true! So i am so happy that there will be a Remastered version for the PS4 hopefully it IS not like the horror of the PS3 version. lol I am sure it will be good. But it's kinda of a dissapointment that Playstation owners will have to rebuy the game if they want to experience the new graphics/performance/mods. I was hoping that Playstation owners would get it for free. But i know it's not going to happen because it simply can't happen! But man i really wished it was free. I went through alot of crap in the PS3 version. PS owners all went through alot crap in the PS3 version. I just thought i wasn't fair for ps owners.
