Bethesda Softworks E3 2016 conference?

Post » Thu Feb 04, 2016 4:40 am

I meant a re-release, not backwards compatibility. If they remastered it for its 5th anniversary (1080p on consoles) it would more than likely be released for PS4 and Xbox One.

This conference is very interesting, since there is no actual headliner this year. DOOM is out this spring and was given a big showcase last year anyway. Elder Scrolls Online was also given coverage for its DLC last year. I suppose Dishonored 2 will get a full gameplay reveal? Then maybe an announcement from Machine Games on what they've been doing since Wolfenstein. Is Fallouts DLC and mods really going to take centre stage?

Perhaps they plan to announce what the Montreal studio is going to be doing?

I'm really looking forward to see what video game Bethesda Game Studios Montreal is developing.

I hope it's some brand new video game or Starfield.

Maybe, but to me that sounds underwhelming from a 'neutral' perspective if their event is predicated on Doom, Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4 dlc and mods.

Possibly, but that sounds disconcerting, we have to remember that Bethesda will be competing with the biggest games yet to be released, can Doom, Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4 DLC compete with that?

Surely, otherwise this event will be atomized by the competition, and honestly it could be embarrassing compared to last years event without a surreptitious reveal.

I'm concerned for Bethesda, they're going to be competing against Sony's event with prodigious AAA titles and PS VR, Microsoft (I know nothing about Microsoft lol), and possibly Nintendo with the launch of Nintendo NX, while also being embattled against EA with Mass Effect and Square with Final Fantasy 7 and 15.

I don't know. I'd say if they have something along the lines of this giant hub for mods on their Bethesda.net for consoles to be able to interact with to download mods, that would something to see. Mods coming to console is a pretty big step for companies like Microsoft and Sony being more open to fan-created content in that regard. Whether they may come hand in hand with the whole paid mod fiasco, well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Well given the fact that TES is Bethesda's baby it's more likely that Fallout 4 would've gotten the short end of the stick.

What are you trying to say? Thar Bethesda Softworks released Fallout 4 for sale last year so that Bethesda Game Studios can finish developing The Elder Scrolls VI and announce it at E3 2016 and release it for sale in November 2016?

I really hope they did not rush to finish developing The Elder Scrolls VI this fast. I want Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios to release The Elder Scrolls VI for sale in 2018 or in 2019.

From what I'm reading about Fallout 4 is that Bethesda Game Studios did rush Fallout 4. Maybe I don't know. The dialogue seems shallow for it and I don't know what else.

Dishonored 2 was supposed to come out this Spring, but everyone's talking as if it isn't. Has it been announced that it's delayed or are we just assuming?

Not sure what you smoking there, pal? I replied that IF they happen to announce TES6 this year that basically confirms that Fallout 4's development was shafted as all of us know that Bethesda will likely choose TES over Fallout when it comes to which game they put the most care in. Although since the release of Skyrim I'm kinda starting to doubt this now.

Of course, this is all just negative thinking and it's most likely going to be Dishonored 2, Doom or more TESO crap. I doubt Bethesda would pull something as incredibly stupid as this.

Would they...? :(

I would love to go to one of those things. Being a Bethesda nut, I would really enjoy myself.

I completely forgot how many big games are coming next year. The sad thing is that besides Halo Wars 2 I feel like I'm going to be severely disappointed in all of them. I dunno if it's how the gaming industry has been changing or if I'm just getting burned out, but I've been less than enthused with a lot of recent games (especially from Ubisoft).

I expect a tes6 announcement but that doesn't mean it'll come out this year. And people FO4 is already out..

And nobody knows thier development schedule here. Its already been 5 yrs. Y'all wanna wait another 5. No one on the planet is immortal.

I worry about the community of gamers in general if people are complaining that we will "only" get things like Dishonored 2, Doom, Fallout DLC, etc.

Even if you don't love these games... It's still going to be better than (or at least equal to) most of the stuff we usually see at E3. :)

Just my opinion.

I would be shocked if anything related to TES 6 is even remotely mentioned. Bethesda doesn't announce games until they are close to release date, so a TES 6 reveal is still at least three years away.

And your second point, FO4 has lots of DLC coming through out the season pass, so they will be talking about that for sure.

3 years away?!? So you predict a 2019-2020 launch for the next TES? That would be insane imo, too huge a time gap from Skyrim which was a great success. I don't think Half-Life is a good business model. This will be the longest gap between two TES games anyway, but 2017 sounds much better to me. I only hope the new studio is meant to cooperate on developing TES faster, bigger and better, not for some itsy-bitsy mobile game crap.

I could see TES VI being announced in 2017...but never released. If we assume that Beth continues to release Fallout 4 DLC thoughout 2016 then maybe, possibly, there might be a TES VI announcement in late 2017. A release date between 2018-2019 seems most likely to me.

Worry about yourself, I'm not disparaging Bethesda's line up due to my own preferences.

E3 is not for the fans, it's to catalyse interest among those out with the gaming sphere, and to promulgate their games to new audiences.

Can Bethesda really make a 'splash' with the aforementioned games, juxtaposed with Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo's software and hardware offerings?

I personally think a Bethesda direct would be more congruent with their line up, otherwise this event will look disappointing compared to last year (unless there's a big reveal).

I find it comforting - it means most people here are realistic enough to not expect a new game less than a year after Fallout 4

Far from it, ESO was released in 2014.

What does ESO have to do with anything? It's a spin-off in a completely different genre and isn't developed by Bethesda Game Studios.

Honestly, they don't need to fully compete with them. Those companies are trying to top what Bethesda put out last year with Fallout 4, and with any DLC announcement that is just another thing. Again, Doom is a old series that has a lot of prestige behind it. Hopefully without saying too much, it looks absolutely fantastic. I also wasn't a fan of Dishonored, but it was a pretty good success and they're going to be building off of that. Another game I won't get, but imo it should be successful and probably more so.

Lastly, do they need to top everyone to be successful? They had probably the 2nd best showcase last year and Fallout 4 was a resounding success in all areas. Sony kind of took it, especially with one of the SE announcements...but among publishers/developers, they were the best (though take note that Rockstar was not a part of E3 whatsoever). Their pockets are lined from that game and can "rest easier" because of it. Will they have the strongest showing this year? I doubt it, but they don't need to. Where their company is and how they compete works perfectly fine for them. It isn't always about pumping out the strongest game every year, just the strongest one you can possibly give when it's ready: that's Bethesda.
