Bethesda/Splash Damage: stop insulting Japan customers!

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:09 am

I was looking forward to Brink and according to the Steam website it was among the best selling products. I pre-ordered it 6 month ago. What happened now?. Well, as any typical console port, they have delayed the release in Japan for 15 days compared to ROW just like THQ/KAOS delayed Homefront for 1 month.

Let me give you a quick review on what happened in the Homefront case. When the game was finally released, one month later, not only the multiplayer was dead but the few servers you could actually jump in everyone would be over level 40 and you totally screwed.

Consequence: $50 wasted.

Seriously, I want a clarification on this issue before I cancel my pre-order. I really was looking forward to this game but this is going to be just another homefront as it seems.

Please, if this is a mistake, correct it because at least me as well as a group of friends WILL CANCEL and inform everyone as possible to cancel the order of this game.

Well good news is even if you jump in late, you can only play with people around your same level.

Well, this is exactly the same we heard we heard about Homefront and what happened, a shameful console port. If they are delaying the game just to concede the SONY/Microsoft/retailers demands to delay the game 15 days in Japan, just like Homefront, it is obvious their priority in the market isn&t the PC but the consoles.

Really, I hope I am wrong but this behavior points towards Splash Damage/Bethesda just having scammed all PC fan base with misinformation just like THQ/KAOS did with Homefront.

Being high level also won't affect the characters you're up against much, it means people will have more ability options but everyone is limited to the same number of abilities they can select for a match.

I personally heard that both consoles as well as PC had dedicated teams making the game work perfectly for all 3, but you can say it how you want.

OP, what drummer said. You get matched with people at your rank level (about every 5 levels), and 15 days is in no way enough time to develop enough tactics about a game to make it unplayable. You won't get crushed by people who have superior skills, they'll just have more experience, which is easily overcome with some practice.

Empty threats such as saying:

Random Complainer: "Yeah, me and my 3 friends are canceling our pre-orders! What now SD!"

SD: "Well... We still have hundreds of thousands of others waiting to buy the game. Sooo..... Cool story bro.

I don't mean to bash, but threats like that do not need to be included. As for the question whether or not this will be another Homefrront.... Its not a complete rip-off of a certain franchise, its introducing a new form of gameplay, and the community is quite devoted and dedicated.

So No.

Again, just look at the experience of TQH/KAOS regarding Homefront. The game was supposed to have been developed for each platform separately and what happened?. IT WAS JUST A SCAM. You want to believe that Bethesda/Splash Damage are different?. Hell, me too. I pre-ordered this game looong time ago, probably before most of you. I really like ETQW. Unfortunately they decide to side with Bethesda for a reason, consoles. I really hope I am wrong but their push of the release by 15 DAYS in Japan, where the console lobby is a potent and strong mafia that only real PC developers like Valve don't give a damn, indicates that they vow to the consoles. Maybe I am wrong but I would't be surprised to find a filthy console port.

Oh, and don't tell me about the making matches with same level because it isn't the point. The point here is, why they have to delay it here in Japan?.

Homefront all over again....

First off, this game was not ported from console to PC or vice versa; second the reason in Homefront there were very few people on the servers is that to my knowledge nobody enjoyed the game as much as they thought. Some clearly do enjoy Homefront, but not that many. As someone already stated, I am very sure there is a matchmaking system to put you with people close to your level or skill.

Don't have an answer for that, as I don't live in Japan or keep up with gaming over there, but its not a Console port. There porting the PC-version to consoles.. So that should tell you something.

I GAVE YOU MY MONEY IN ADVANCED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF BRINK AND THIS IS HOW YOU PAY BACK?!!!!!!

Isn't Homefront a mediocre game to begin with? I'm sure they would release at the same time everywhere if it were that simple.

Well it's two way street you know. Sometimes we have to wait for years for a port of games made in Japan. Hardware aswell. It takes time to localize a product. Calm down. If you feel like you are being cheated then don't buy the game. There is no insult.

Games like this one probably is are made on PC with CONSOLES on mind and the textures are increased and antialiasing just slapped on top of it to called PC version. A real PC game is thought, developed, and marketed with PC on mind. Don't fall for the trick of "Oh look, we develop it for platforms separately" scam. I hope I am wrong about Brink but Bethesda/Splash Damage association and now the pushing of the Japanese release for 15 days is already smelling to Homefront all over the place.

Like BRINK: The Homecoming 2.

Wait a second. I shelled $50 dollars for the game 6 month ago. Me, like many other in my clan, shelled over $600 dollars in the development of this game (we bought through steam). Now, over 6 month later we are treated as second class customers for no reason and no insult?. Of course there is an insult when you supported the development of this game from the very beginning and then less than 5 days before the release you are discriminated. It is like you put your money on some stocks that raise their value, produce profit to all other members of the association for an amount of time and then you are returned the exact amount of money you invested as if nothing happened and none benefited from it. Not even a freaking thank you.

THERE IS AN INSULT, A FREAKING INSULT!!!!

This is begining to sound to me like there maybe a troll hiding under a bridge around here. Like I said in my earlier post it takes time to localize a game. Some times we have to wait YEARS for a japanese game to make it over here.

Aahhh, classical!!! Dismiss anyone who doesn't praise the game as troll. Don't be ridiculous, would you?. The complains I have as a customers are absolutely valid and supported by the fact that I have invested money on this game.

Games taking YEARS?!!!. What a joke...What? MAFIA II? I preordered Mafia II and went through the 2K Fiasco as well. What else, Black Ops, MW2? Went through those console ports by getting them gifted through a friend on my steam list. All of these game were actually console ports. What game took YEARS?. Name one. Worse, what game offered a pre-order so long before as Brink?. I call you out!!!!

So what is your point, that I am a troll because I am saying that BRINK is showing the same [censored] symptoms?.

How in hell does it make a troll?. What I do smell is senseless fanboism under the bridge, that I assure you really stinks!!!!

you're just butt hurt cuz you have to wait an extra 15 DAYS. I'm sure pushing the release date back to INSULT Japanese gamers is at the top of SD/Bethesda's list of objectives to acomplish this close to launch.
I still don't understand how this can be seen as an insult anyways....
I had Mass Effect 3 pre-ordered and paid for ages ago like many others, today, Bioware pushed the release date back to 2012, I'm INSULTED!.

Oh quit your whining. Do you even know how many japanese games I would love to play but can't as they'll never be brought stateside? Or even they do manage to find a publisher willing to put in the work to translate and regionize the game, it often takes a few months at least. 15 days is nothing.

Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage released 03/25/10 in Japan, 11/02/10 in the US. Namco X Capcom released 05/26/05 in Japan, never released outside of Japan. Bayonetta 10/29/09 in Japan, 01/05/10 in the US. Blazblue Continuum Shift 07/01/10 in Japan, 07/27/10 in US, which is one of the few releases that's been anywhere near less than a month, but the kicker is that it was released on 12/03/10 in Europe.

Yeah YEARS. FF2 took almost 20 of them to finally make it over here. How many months did it take for the 3ds take to make the trip over here? And the PS3? And hey guess what I have had Rage preordered for 5+ years. Deus ex for atleast 3-4. How is pointing out that games take time to localize being a really devoted fan? All I'm seeing here is a petulant little child throwing a tantrem because he has to wait a couple extra days. Everyone here has been nothing but civil to you, and in reply you keep screaming "insultzzzz they hate me."
