I'm pretty sure you'd go blind staring at that tiny screen for hundreds of hours.

They lost the source code for Daggerfall, so unless there's a dos emulator and the Ipod Touch can handle it...

It's rumored that they lost part of the source code when they moved from Bethesda to Rockville.

I think it's unlikely they'd release them either way. Daggerfall had plenty of quirks and bugs and they wouldn't improve by porting the game over to a foreign OS. As for Arena, it's already available for free for PCs, I have to wonder if they'd recoup their costs of porting it to a handheld.

Rather than porting a game Vir2L (the TES Travels developer) could spend their time developing their own game. That way they don't have to worry about making compromises between what the device can handle and what the original game was trying to do. They also don't have to worry about the difficulties of porting. Because of this I think a new game for one of these devices is far more likely than a port.

Plus, I'd note that since downloading is the only way to download items for Apple's "i" devices, it'd be a heck of a long download for Daggerfall, even if it WAS made more efficient. Plus, I feel that the game would need a heck of a lot more input controls than you could get out of just a touchscreen.

Aww, man! I left the source code in my shorts pocket when I put them in the wash! Oh well... guess I'll just throw it away.

-days pass, until... a starved video game producer digs the screwed up code out of the trash! he makes a game with it-

http://sourceforge.net/projects/s60dosbox/ to http://www.s60.com/life/s60phones/browseDevices.do. While the phone CPUs are too slow to properly emulate Daggerfall, I still think it's pretty darn cool.

Don't know if DOSBox is available for iPod Touch, but it would be too slow there too.

I doubt it'd be. Apple has a thing about controlling aps on 'their' devices. (since most big corporations would like to think they own the hardware, even though they know darn well you can't copyright hardware) So as a result, I believe the tally of any form of open-source programs on their devices is zero.

I never use my phone for playing games (so I wouldn't get a good phone like that) but that's indeed pretty cool.
