Bethesda turns to Bioware for lore.

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 4:52 pm

Also the circle was in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Circle_Knights circa 1996.
Looks like YOU need to prove that Bioware didn't steal it from Bethesda.
I smell lawsuit ala "scrolls"

I kinda assumed it has something to do with Vampires honestly.

Oh yes. "Blood" oath? Circle? Sounds like a vampire cult to me. HOORAH!

Apparently bioware invented the circle.

And then next they'll invent the square?

i guess i kind of forgot that there are vampire cults in oblivion/morrowind :-)...

i knew you could be vampires obviously .. just forgot about the fact that it's almost like a faction.

OMG that was annoying to read.....

I know rightt? Made my eyes hurt a bit. :(

Anyway, I doubt they borrowed anything from Bioware, and College of Winterhold is the mages guild.

As I've said in two other threads about this today... Since it seems each faction has three achievements, one for joining, one for getting to a certain part, and a final one for completing it, this achievement is tied to the Companions. The fighter's guild. Since it comes right after the achievement for joining them, and for each other faction in the list it goes:

Achievement for joining faction
Achievement for getting to a certain part
Achievement for completing faction line

I wasn't aware a circle became synonymous with mages just because BioWare named their mages guild "The Circle of Magi."

Apparently bioware invented the circle.

exactly:

World English Dictionary
circle (?s??k ? l) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]

— n

5. a group of people sharing an interest, activity, upbringing, etc; set: golf circles ; a family circle

bioware is no where near the first to use "circle" to refer to a specific group of people, not even to refer to mages: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Circle_of_Eight

Yes my friend apparently so. Nice name by the way :P.

But yeah this is just silly or at least the way OP worded the title is a bit provoking at least especially when your information is so wrong.

This thread is full of lulz.

Oh, something on topic? Mages are not what I think of when I hear the phrase "Joining the circle".

Wow, seriously?
"Circle" is about as common as a word can get.
And "Circles" of mages, or as administrative councils, is a long-standing trope of fantasy.

OP: How about you stop typing with absurdly irritating tendencies and using fonts/font size changes for no reason? I cannot even read what you wrote without cringing.

I may have missed some lore from Oblivion so if this "circle" has been mentioned previously then okay.

But an achelement says something about joining the circle, I imagine this is the mages guild? So they 1:1 borrowed terminology from Dragon Age? :/ Not very imaginative.

YEA i know right, Bethesda also copies the stereotypical Dwarfs that only wants to drink ale and idea of Elven Orcs
oh and dont let me forget the such Original names svck as Dunmer, Bosmer, Breton and Altmer and also races...Bethesda lacks creativity ughhh nice going Bethesda
