Bethesda wants to bring mods to consoles (Thread #4)

Mods on console are not happening for Skyrim, if you think otherwise you are delusional.

It would be nice, but the details just don't work out.

Lol some guy way above me said pc's are not THAT expencsve. Compare a 300$ ps3 to a $2000 alien computer. And even if you buy pc's that are about or below $1000, they would most likely be unable to play this game, or have it played in very low settings. I'd buy a $300 ps3 wich can offer pretty good settings instead of a 600$ cheap pc with horrible settings. I'm just saying...

Haha, good one.

Oh wait, you're serious? The main problem with having a discussion on these forums is that so many people know absolutely nothing about either the side they're for, or the side they're against, and yet they argue anyway. I'm "just saying", but perhaps if you couldn't provide a single reference for anything you say, you shouldn't say anything at all. For what it's worth, the dollar sign should go on one end of the number, not either at random, there's no such thing as an "alien computer", "pc's" doesn't need an apostrophe, a $500 PC built will run most games on top settings at a decent resolution, and a $2000 PC is difficult to even spec out without going way overboard in at least two areas. Facts are not something that are "nice to have", they are essential.

1) CS will only run on PC, and nothing will change that. Console owners would only be able to run mods, not to create them.

2) If anything, consoles surely wouldn't be able to run the most advanced and graphically-intensive mods, so nobody will get unmounted from their high horse anyway.

3) In any case, I wouldn't insult the hand that (in the supposition that mods would be avaliable for consoles, which is still FAR from being possible) would feed console owners. Not an intelligent move.

You really need to stop stating things as fact when you don't understand them.
I'm still chuckling about that expansion/dlc/mod thing..

The CS in its current state doesn't currently run on any console in its current state, true, but there are many things that could change that. Console users may not be able to create mods on their consoles, sure, but I am willing to bet most of them have PCs.... just a guess  ... and could very well transfer the mods to their consoles.

Surely, there are many, many people who can't run the "most graphically intensive" mods on their PCs. These are mods that put too many assets on one cell.. mostly true when too many NPCs are loaded. High-res texture mods, I am willing to bet can be handled by consoles.

Ahh, exactly as I predicted. And now for the cold hard facts that I have to repeat ad nauseum every time console people think they can mod the game with their consoles...

The CS/GECK/CK is not some novelty level editor. It is the actual tool the developers used. It requires a mouse/keyboard interface, and more hardware capacity than a console can provide. The game engine is optimized to runt he game. The SDK is optimized to make the game; a task to which consoles are ill-suited.

And all those unofficial tools? They were made because the "official" tool set did not have the capabilities the mod community needed. The official loader does not have load order management. The official loader does not have conflict detection. The official loader cannot in any way help with conflict resolution.

My point stands unscathed.

ummm please tell m ewhere did i say that the modding would be done ON CONSOLE, i just said the mods should be able to be transeferred to the console

I'm hoping posters like this don't represent that 90% console audience.

A $600 PC self-built will probably max out Skyrim on release, well past PS3's lowly 20-30 fps, medium settings, 720p. You forget Skyrim's gfx are built up on low console specs...unlike BF3 or Witcher2, this usually ends up allowing even older PCs to max out a game unless it's a very very crappy port-job...which it is not.

Make it happen! Anything that helps get PC users off their perch can only be a good thing.

I love this attitude, which is so prevalent among console gamers. My neighbor has a Porsche. Bastard. I think I'll burn his a garage down so he never gets to drive it again.

Edit: Oh, and if this happens, console users will have to PAY for mods. Have fun hitting up your moms for extra cash, kiddos.

This is going nowhere except round in circles, all the old arguments are being dragged up from topic to topic, sly digs at each other, platform bashing and general rude remarks.

End of "discussion", let's not have another thread on this.
