Bethesda what are you doing!?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:15 am

Bethesda has gone to far. They lack any care for their consumer and when they do show some support and release a patch it BREAKS THE GAME FURTHER! What kind of Game Design Company does that sort of thing? They did little to no bug testing before the initial release of the game itself and the clearly didn't bug test their patches.
What the hell are they doing with this game?! Its such a shame beacuse i love this game so much but i cant play it properly.

I'm wondering the same thing. Are they in some kind of competition with EA in how they can release good games, with game breaking issues...because if so, they just beat EA by a mile.

EDIT: One thing I do have to say on EA's behalf(tho this is probably due to Bioware and their awesome ability to release quality games at launch), they pushed back the date on ME3 to work the kinks. ME3 was original slated for release in November, but pushed it back to make sure its good to go.

Bethesda probably just wanted the game before christmas to make their pockets fatter. To bad with all of this buggy crap going on, no one will buy the game. Greedy bastards...

Dude, they are trying to fix a game by getting rid of bugs, but that can potentially create more bugs.

It happens with EVERY GAME, there is no way around it.
Especially with a game like Skyrim.

I didnt say they did it intentionally but they are a massive company who dont test a patch before it comes out or even the game?! We all paid good money for it but cant play it properly beacuse of glitches etc? I shouldnt have to wait or move on from a quest beacuse they couldnt test the game before release

I means there are bugs but cmon its a massive game there are going to be bugs, and I,m sure Beth are trying to fix them give em some credit! Rant over!

well pc is probably simply very difficutl cause you got 5 bazillion different configuraionts and therefore never really know what will happen cause you cant test them all...it's a shame but thats the way it is...what solution is there? you could go console (but honeslty, who with their mind in the right place would seriously consider that)

Have faith in Bethesda, im betting it was a struggle enough to even release the game on the set date, let alone release patches within the first couple of weeks. Still, its a shame to see people missing out =(.

And especially with the speed that they put this patch out.

If you want a 100% bug free game, wait a few months. I'd rather play now with a few issues though but you're free to decide when to pick it up.

Don't get me started on that good money part, you've already played the game (most likely) more than some games even have content for by now. :)

You realize bugs are created when there's a loop-hole in the code of the game and something doesn't work as it's supposed to. Fixing the issue on one spot in the code might create another problem. It's not simple, even if they find all bugs in the game, it's not always simple to fix it. For example, an item not appearing in the game world where it should, is most likely not caused of the quest-or the item.

I don't think it's too much to ask that they actually test their patches before unleashing them upon the masses. I mean, many of the issues being reported are things you can see in under an hour of running around with an existing save. I mean, god forbid they fix something without breaking something completely unrelated to what they were trying to fix in the first place.

That does not help those who cannot continue the game they paid for, on initial release most of the problems surrounded CTD and freezes, and what do they get in patch 1.2?, certainly nothing in the notes about fixing the major memory leak that's leading to most of these problems.

Easy to say that when even something obvious could be missed by a few bethesda testers, and having millions of actual players where theres bound to be a couple hundred who can pick up on something.

Yes, I'm sure it takes a colossal amount of effort and testing to notice something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaNZHfdCF_0.

I am sorry for your legit concerns, but the highlighted part pretty much indicates their job is practically done. Count on marginal improvements over the next months or so, and hope for the usual community fixes / mods.

There are other projects on line and so you can forget about major fixes and such - the gross of their DLC or add-on is probably already finished. Netx thing you'll hear from Beth is in 1 year or so something saying "Skyrim was a truly unique experience with some flaws, we admit that... but we learnt a lot from the process and TES 6 Valenwood will take the experience not just to the next step, but a whole new era. Its gonna be awesome!"

And, again, everybody will forget about M, O and S....

Explain to me how a company of around 100 people can bug test all the possible problems in Skyrim? especially when they have to work on their next game and hopefully engine this time?

Its impossible, the next best thing is for us to do it for them and that is where we are today.

Blizzard has "12 bazillion" players out there and doesn't seem to have much of a problem.

Yes it does. Do you have any idea why this bug exists? As far as you know it might only happen to people playing as a Khajit, who have less than 70 One-Handed but more than 22 Alteration, bounty in exactly one Hold and didn't recover the Horn in the main quest line.

It's an extreme example, but it's not like EVERY PS3 PLAYER suddenly sees dragons flying backwards.

So shut up.
