Bethesda, what excuse do you have........

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:26 am

I don't get the purpose of this topic, it's easy to walk with one hand, heck if you use the auto-run button you can even walk with no hands at all!, though it's better if you use one hand to steer.

One thing that bugs me with the 360 controls is that they don't have this feature.

I thought I might have been the only one.

I've been playing on a PC and I haven't seen the button yet.... maybe I have a defective one. Or maybe Bethesda stole that button from me! Bethesda, what excuse do you have for stealing my button??!! :verymad:

To appease to the PC gamers Bethesda should add random buttons on the keyboard that do totally random, glitchy stuff. Like holding Alt, F5, Space, while spamming Backspace allows you to cast spells at no magicka cost. Then they can't complain about having less controls...

Bethesda, what excuse do you have for a UI that you need to use two hands to move your character forward? And, NO, I"m not referring to the one-handed game the a 13-year-old guy plays with one hand on the keyboard/mouse and the other hand....well, you know. In this day and age of gaming......why in the world are we limited to mostly two keyboard buttons....."E" and "R". I can't help but figure someone got lazy and that resulted in PC gamers having the limitations the the XBOX controller has. I mean, really, at least you could have made things consistent? It's now obvious that your deal with MIcrosoft Live Gaming fell through and you turned to Steam as a last-minute substitute which resulted in a HUGELY problimatic launch. And, just how many of your loyal TES gamers were "over the moon" excited about HAVING to create a Steam account? Gee, I don't know, and neither do you. You simply forgot to ask?

Fixed the abuse of comic sans font for you.

And, yes the UI is a mess for PC. Eventually it will be ironed out. Also, I'm not sure I understand your rant towards the end about steam. What deal with Live?

Fun Fact: adding more dots to an ellipsis does not make it more impressive.

Dot, dot, dot... stop. Only three :celebration:

It wasn't a secret that Skyrim would use Steam. So if you don't like it you had one of three choices: Deal with it, don't buy it or get a console to play it on.

Well that still doesn't make up for the fact that it is BULLS**T. I understand it is one thing if you downloaded it through steam. But when I go out and buy the physical disc myself like Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3 and I am forced to use Steam just to play is mind boggling....... Where does the privacy start and stop on the internet anymore, can't even play a video game without big brother....LOL JK on the last part.... :P

I see you (just like TC) went with the less logical option 4. Buy the game. Play it for a month. Then complain on forums.

Oh and, offline mode.

Oblivion UI was crap and they never fixed that one. But good luck with sitting Bethesda down and lecturing them with rhetorical questions.

I don't even understand the original poster's complaint about movement, to be honest. Z as the default shout button was very odd to me but capslock works great for it.

I'm sorry that your hands are so tiny that it takes both of your index fingers to press the "w" key. Maybe you could tape your index and middle finger together that way you only have to use one hand.

I'm pretty sure you just need to press down the W key to move forward... what's this thing about using two hands?

...I can move my character forward with one hand...pressing the W button...

But you have to steer him with the mouse. It's been like that in every ES game. In fact, just about every game I play requires keyboard + mouse for movement. Mass Effect games, Deus Ex, etc. I'm used to it, don't have a problem with it. *shrugs*

re: Steam vs Live

While I'm no particular fan of the Steam requirement.... what the heck is the OP talking about? Sudden? Last minute? Yeah, Fallout 3 used Live (to almost universal disgust), but the more recent Beth releases have used Steam. No-one had any expectation whatsoever that Skyrim would use Live.

It is old news.

People have been complaining about it since the release date on these boards....Among other things that really don't warrant being complained about due to being so minute; especially when compared to things that actually matter like broken mission glitches that Bethesda have said will be the primary focus on the January patch.

Because a horrid UI is a "minute complain" ? 0_o
