Bethesda, why are you hating PC-players?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:37 am

just saying, look at your pc-version of fallout 4:

- no native 21:9 widescreen support in 2015?? (even via -ini tweaks still glitches like scope zoom)

- clumsy keyboard and mouse interface (mouse pointer is highly inaccurate inside terminals or crafting menus e.g.)

- no own PC UI-interface, just a copy of the console UI

- no option to disable mouse acceleration

- problems with keybinding - some keybindings looks hardcoded

- no full installation possible with a physical copy of the game - i mean, hey, we've payed 60 euros for the game, so why don't you use 3 install dvds?

...that are some of the major issues i have with fallout 4^^

you didn't show much love for the PC version :nope:

i'm sure the pc-players would appreciate it, if you fix these issues with the next patch^^

thanks

We shouldn't even have to wait for a patch. This is basic crap that should have been working much better even in a beta.

Just another half-ass, console-ported cash grab. My last Bethesda purchase. They now join EA and Cryptic for companies I won't ever buy products from again.

The game doesn't even support 4:5 resolutions. Which causes invisible lockpicking and T20 interface screen being half visible.

Another case of things that should be standard will have to be remedied by the modders.

Options are absolutely lacking, i shouldn't have to go into the ini to turn off mouse acceleration and the weird disparity between X-sensitivity and Y sensitivity.

Why we still have unbindable keys is beyond me as well. I got a great mouse with extra buttons, buttons i cannot use at all because these keys cannot be bound.

Some things cannot be rebound at all it seems, like Hold Breath for scoped weapons is stuck on Alt. Multifunctions on a key are not good either, i got plenty of keys on my keyboard so i should be able to bind different functions to different keys.

I am none to pleased with the loot window popping up just by looking at a container/corpse. It's been a nuisance several times now. Trying to reload but instead i get a window pop up, and i now have to find a direction to look at so i can actually reload. Which also ties into the "multi-functions on one key" issue. The lacking options menu doesnt let me customize this either.

It's a great game to play, a lot of fun with and i have a lot of good things to say about it as well. But the customizations, UI and options leave a lot to be desired and are abysmal by pc gaming standards.

21:9 - They've never supported this I believe... So why cry now for a feature that's niche?

Really? Don't have any issue...

Interface? Wait for mods...

Everything else is meh...

Buying a cross platform game for PC at release is mostly always a let down.

This is why I generally wait a year or so before I buy Beth games. By then mods that address these basic UI things and the bugs that they still haven't patched are addressed.

The aggravating reserved keybind thing is a holdout from Skyrim. There are mods on Nexus that fix that issue for Skyrim, and since FO4 is based on Skyrim's engine, it'll likely work the same for FO4 (but don't quote me, as I haven't tried myself. :P)

I have always had a gripe with not being able to rebind the Pip-Boy key in Fallout 3. Yeah, I can redesign to open it but I still have to press Tab in order to close it. Why?

Good question Blaphon. And btw. a cross platform game has not to be bad on PC.

Look what Witcher offers as an RPG in 2015. Yes there are also problems...and also bug.

But here we have a cross platform game, also with PC Players on focus and without

game breaking bug′s like the terminal stuck bug...after ten steps into the vault.

FO4 feels overall as an unfinished product, focus to make money with Sony and MS asap.

Wait for mods? junk my PC performance not to get stuck on terminals?

Personal settings only via tweeking four different *.ini′s...are we back in year 2000!?

Really not trolling here but PC is not the platform of choice for most gamers nowadays. Used to have an amazing rig and swore it was the most exciting time for gaming around 2007/8 - but nowadays with work and less time to play I prefer console just because I like to play the damn game and don't have to sit in front of a desk for hours. Most PC games make you FEEL like you're on the wrong platform as the devs are more keen on developing for the consoles so lots of the releases come across as bad ports. With that in mind it's easier to just play on console. I can't imagine playing this game on PC, it'd feel really weird.

You are not wrong. 10% of the Fallout 4 sales will be on PC, that leaves 90% for consoles. That is where the money is, but that doesn't mean that the 10% customers that went for the PC version should be ignored or get the short end of the stick. I personally don't dislike the UI and i don't bind keys in Bethesda games, mostly. Also the FOV is ok for my eyes. I do get the frustration of other players though. Its never a good sign when you start up a new PC game and they have set controller on in the options menu for you.

I agree, the other alternative is to not bother releasing for the PC at all as sadly it's too much hassle for them. They really can't be arsed and it shows.

Actually, they even released the Xbox One version with a terrible stutter bug.

O.k. well...I′m not going to play game in 2015 @1080p @30FPS (or less:))...most of the time

without a good AA feature. I own a PS4 and a Xbox One...and there are games running well and

they are made for console gamers....but then gamesas should stop selling PC Games.

Again...we have high quality cross platform games already. Look a Witcher.

Console ports are a problem...but I′m sorry...I found more "game" on the Batman AK release.

And here is already a refund going on !! There was no gamebreaking bug like in FO4.

With my hardware...I enjoyed Batman...now after the patches even more.

I feel gamesas must react asap...not to go the same way as Ubisoft und Warner did.

Let′s see how Assassin's Creed syndicate will perform..I tink they didn ′t forget the PC Gamers.

Let′s see how gamesas will handle ...what they have done to the PC Gamers.

10% PC sales and 90% on consoles? ...don't make me laugh^^

head over to the support forum and check this out:

- 2 pages for PS4

- 3 pages for Xbox

- 18(!) pages for PC^^

...so if you still think only 10% of the sold copies are for PC, then you can imagine in what a bad shape the PC version is... :brokencomputer:

The key binding issues in this game are simply amateur. And if I hear another person on this forum try to justify bad decision making by Bethesda and their multimillion dollar software package by saying ‘stop moaning - the modders will sort it out’, I swear I’m going to eat my Steam account.

Most modding is crap. In fact 96% is crap. Why to do we have to wait to sift through a pile of crap to find 4% that might be good and implement something that Todd and the guys should have done themselves.

I give up! Gah!!!!

doesn't matter...

it's still 10% having ~75% of the problems according to the support forum!

I feel for ya hopping, I really do. I can imagine that being a PC game consumer who buys the latest stuff would be very annoying. I can also see why one would be 'compelled' to consume that way. But here is what I do, and I manage to avoid 90% of the annoyance that I reckon I'd experience too if I pre-ordered or bought right out of the gates:

1. I do not buy games (I only play PC) for 6 months to a year after they are released.

2. I do not buy games that are "mod unfriendly"

3. I buy games that generally have very active modding communities. You are correct that 95% of mods are mediocre at best, but that 5% of really high quality stuff is amazing and extremely worthwhile.

One should note there that, instead of buying a game, and then complaining cause it annoyed me, I "punish" the publisher in the opposite way: I withhold my purchase long enough that I can be sure that I really want to buy it, and I also go on their forums and recommend that everyone else do the same.

For a game like FO4 where we PC users might only comprise 20% or less of total revenue, we just might not matter at all. But if we do matter, imagine what it would be like for the publisher if even half of their early "pioneer" consumers waited 6 months to buy. Imagine how much worse it would be for publishers who released games which were incompletely debugged, poorly ported from console to PC, and which "depended" on mods to make them "PC friendly."

When you give them your money and then complain, they don't hear anything except "La la la la la la . . "

PC sales figures for Skyrim was never released but data mining showed stales figures who was between 360 and PS3.

Oblivion sold bad on PC at least during launch, main difference was that that Oblivion had pretty high hardware demands for Oblivion at release time while they was modest for Skyrim, mods are another reason, also less piracy.

Fallout had 445.000 users at peak today, this is more than Skyirm had at peak after launch so launch sales on PC is likely to be higher than Skyrim.

At least OP you can play the game. I still can't play the game keeps crashing when I launch  . I've got a few other things I can try that I've seen on forums that hopefully might work when I get home. I use arrow keys for direction so being able to change key bindings is a must, is it so difficult to do or are they just being lazy?

I think quite honestly Bethesda are lazy with certain things because they know the modding community will fix the game after release for free.

Some of these things are so simple there is no excuse.

A FoV slider for a start. You can fix it with a 20 second ini tweak but you should not have to fiddle with files out of the game.

The UI should be scalable, there is a major difference sitting 5 m away as opposed to right up close

Good guidelines, methinks. I would never buy a PC game at launch, ever. Too many risks these days.
