As the old saying goes, where there's smoke..

There's either fire, or people Blowing it.

While In this case Bethesda Dun Goof'd, Spend enough time on the WoW forums and you learn rather quickly that not all complaints are well founded.

What I said: it depersonalises customers and I think it inverts the relationship from those providing a business with its income to a business doing a favour for consumers. I admit those words are weighted, but that's my perception of the difference, and I think it's not unlikely that the transition to describing customers as "consumers" was done for a purpose that wasn't in the customers' best interests. But that's just my take on things; as it is, describing me as a "consumer" is one of my pet hates.

As a person who speaks English as a second language, your message just confused the heck out of me. Are you some sort of English Grad student? :D Nevertheless, I agree with you.

Beth will get this fixed, these things take time and whining about them like a little schoolgirl isn't going to get 1.3 or 1.21 here any faster.

Im sorry, but nowhere in the patch notes does it say it did anything with damage resistances. So it was not on the "to fix" block for 1.2. Just because the community fixed ONE bug over night does not mean Bethesda is unable nor unwilling to do so. They are working to fix them all with ONE patch and not 20 patches. And lets not forget the patch was released YESTERDAY.

Clearly you are of the opinion they should release patches every hour.

They caused the resistance bug with their latest "patch." They caused several other bugs with their latest "patch." THEY DIDN'T FIX, THEY BROKE! Is that so hard to comprehend? The patches, they do nothing (but break the game)!

And modders came in, and fixed their mistake in an instant. So there is no reason they couldn't fix their own mistake, or just not make it in the first place. But they haven't...That is BAD. Doesn't that strike you as bad? Customer pays money, gets partially broken item. Seller promises to fix item if Customer is patient. Seller breaks item further. Customer's neighbor fixes the new problem that that the Seller just created....Who should the Customer be happy with? Who should the customer be pissed at? It's not rocket science.

I love this game, but releasing this patch, in this condition, never should have happened. I've done QA break/fix testing. If I had allowed some dikeed up mess like this to be released, tanking a product it was supposed to fix, I'd have been updating my resume and waiting for the HR axe to fall. It's not about the fact that I paid $60, though that's extremely relevant. It's not about the fact that patches take time, and software QA is hard, that's understandable. It's not about the fact that they don't like to say anything and maintain radio silence when something gets sideways, because that's standard PR procedure. It's about the fact that this patch NEVER SHOULD HAVE MADE IT INTO RELEASE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

This isn't affecting everybody. Only a handful of people. I'm still playing the game just fine with the patch.

Have you made any attempt to test your magic resistance? Because thats broken for EVERYONE (not a handful of people) and is my major concern.

These things do not take time. The resistance bug which their 3 weeks in the making patch introduced was fixed over night. It took them 3 weeks to break the game further...it took modders 1 night to fix they're mistake...

I just gata ask...why all the rabid fanboyism? Is Bethesda paying you? Are you an employee? If not, why are you so brazenly sticking up for a company that hasn't done anything to deserve your defense? Do you get on these forums just so you can mock the people who have broken games by telling us to be quite, be patient, and watch as you play your game which is magically not broken? What is your purpose? IMO, every single person who gets on here and tells us to be patient, to be quite, or tells us that their game is running perfectly is TROLLING! hardcoe, grief-inducing TROLLING! There is NO other reason to get on here and say those things...NONE. So stop it, please.

And what exactly would that fix concerning the game?

Absolutely nothing. But like myself, that doesn't matter to me. I just want somebody to say something as simple as "We know everybody is having some problems, were looking into this now, please give us a few days and we'll do the best we can.", it's been all silence, which only makes the situation worse.

While I'm anxious to have more information about the next fixes, I don't think their lack of comment so far is indicative of them not knowing or doing anything about the problems.

They're working on it, we can assume it's true even if they haven't said anything yet. This is an unfortunate side to Bethesda games, they're awesome but buggy. Oblivion and Fallout where the same way, although nothing so ridiculous as backwards flying dragons but you would occasionally find a quest or event that was broken or bugged out.

Patches will come, if you can still enjoy the game in some capacity then try to avoid the buggy content. If not then keep calm and carry on, come back to Skyrim in a month when it'll be slightly less buggy.

It's also entirely possible that they haven't got a clue and that's why they're not commenting. Just because they announce somewhere that they're investigating doesn't mean they are actually investigating. Where does it end? Developers are all over the internet giving interviews and hyping their product until release. Then they go into hiding with a total blackout. That's not good business. It's also not good business or good PR to release a patch that does more harm than good for a large majority of customers. Honestly there's no excuse. Patches will indeed come but as far as I know they didn't allow anybody to pay for the game on the installment plan. So people have a right to complain. Just so you know, I'm not having problems with the patch since I started a new character but all of my old characters had problems with the patch. It's just a theory but I'm guessing that the patch was not backward compatible.

My theory is it's the same rush rush, self entitled complaining and demanding nature of the customer that causes them to rush out a patch in the first place. I hope people who are so unforgiving and unrelenting in the pursuit of satisfaction against the people who spent 3+ years of their life realize that some day they may have people coming at them in the very same way... walk a mile in their shoes... and they will probably say, but you're not giving me a chance, you don't understand, etc.

I didn't install the patch, the glitches I heard of made me weary. Complex game like this, I'm not shocked when some glitches occur, and to test this behemoth of game must be a hugeeee task so I tend to wait for version '2' (just a saying.. like when microsoft releases a new SP for windows, I give it a while before I install). It's too bad that people are having problems, but I can assure you the people who built the game love it more than you, they don't want these glitches in their software and want them fixed. They don't want the people who they built this game for to have a bad experience, it's their love and passion on the line, they want it fixed more than anyone just trust in the fact that they will resolve it, are adding to their regression test plans when something is missed and are way more qualified to say if something is easy or not to fix than any of us.

No, Bethesda has an obligation to tell the people what is going on, its not like they gave the game for free... i am not having ANY issues of CTD os Quest stopping Bugs, i had minor issues with 1.2 (keyboard and Xbox360 controller), i have nothing to argue to but i do think Bethesda needs to start aknowledging all the issues people claim to be having.

I thought I had no issues too, then I took an arrow in the kn....I mean, then I saw a drunken dragon flying at the speed of light...

I shouldn't even waste the time responding to you but I will. Beth deserves and has earned my support, why you might ask because they make good games and aren't going to leave us behind. Sure you can bring up the Abomb issue or Boone from New Vegas (Different Dev, same Pub) but they usually take care of issues. It's your own fault for upgrading unless you have PC but blame Beth using the evil and draconian Steamworks and not the game itself as the reason why you can't play on PC.

I'm pretty sure the patch was pushed to the PS3 on Monday so a lot of these issues have been known about for several days.

That's something that really upsets me. The PS3 patch was released Monday and reports of problems started to arise. Instead of investigating and holding up the 360 and PC patches until they knew for sure what was going on, they release those patches too. So instead of isolating the problem to just the PS3 and fixing the other patches they released it to the 360 and PC users too. How much sense did that make?

The reason I cannot play is because Bethedsda released a terrible patch (and yes, I have PC). The fact that Steam auto-updated their very terrible patch does not, in any way reflect poorly on Steam. That's like saying that it's the waiter's fault that you got food poisoning. He just brought you the food. The cook is the one who didn't cook it right. You logic, it makes no sense. And I have been buying Bethesda games since Arena, so I think that it's fair when I say this is easily the worst major release they have ever released, and it is easily the worst first patch they have ever released. Their customer service has been going down hill for a LONG time.

I should not have to wait to play a game I already payed for. I shouldn't have to pay in November and play in January. I shouldn't have to deal with the MOUNTAIN of bugs that I am forced to deal with. I should have a game that works (I don't). These are not self entitled demands. These are the same demands you make of ANY other provider of goods and/or services. You do not pay for a meal only to find out the foods rotten and you have to come back tomorrow. You do not pay for a movie at the theater and have to come back in a week to watch it without it stopping every 10 minutes. You don't buy a sweater and then have to return it 10 different times because it falls apart in 3 days. Do these things happen? Yeah, but when they do people throw a massive stink and the company involved gets into very deep water, publicity-wise. Why should video game developers be any different? They released a horribly broken product, proceed to make it more broken, and your response is just wait? You wouldn't say that about any other product on the planet, why video games?

Now this, this I can agree with. Being a product manager it's a decision I would have made if publishing a patch for multiple platforms, you'd even guess that they delayed to make sure there were no major issues, but they published anyways. I've tossed it up to something we didn't get to see in regards to the policy and interworkings of how this patch made it to us, for example maybe it was too late for some reason to pull the patch from Live/Steam. Who knows.... I know that idiots could not have possibly created this wonderful game, so I have to give the benefit of the doubt now that there was obviously something as the consumer we don't know.

Steam has nothing to do with it. They developed the patch, they released the patch. They chose Steamworks yes, but that's simply more reason to test their work, or do voluntary beta releases as many developers do before putting out an official update.

Well according to that definition complaining about the "complainers" is also trolling since it adds nothing to the conversation.

Back before the game was released, I read a thread made by a Steam really devoted fan. The only selling point for Steam that I actually liked was that they would be able to shoot out patches quickly. I definitely got the impression that they meant small patches for each little problem that came along. Waiting for that. Still waiting.
