Bethesda will there be a patch for PS3 GOTY?

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 2:31 am

Could some one from Bethesda please respond? I now have completed 100% of the trophys. I really would like to finish the rest of the game on my PS3. But the freezing and glitching is out of control. I must have restarted 100 times and deleted the game data at least 20 times. And nothing fixes the freezing, you said start a new game. I did and the new game froze with in the first 2 hrs and started doing random freezing after that. The game is clearly broken and needs a patch. I know its not my PS3 because I can play Uncharted 2 for 8hrs stright and not a single freeze. And Uncharted 2 is defentaly harder on the PS3 then Fallout 3! Please don't keep your loyal fans in the dark any longer. Please let us know whats going on, a simple yes were working on a patch. Or a no were leaving the game the way it is will do! Thank you for your time.

Ditto. I started it up today and I can't move 100 yards before it freezes. Same with fast travelling. So irritating, especially since by the Game of the Year Version you would have thought they would have sorted it out. <_<

Something tells me Bethesda has wiped their hands of this game and has walked away to do other things. They already have our money, the game has already won a butt load of awards. If they fixed anything they would be admitting that their game was indeed "broken". By not responding to anyone they can just act as if they're isolated instances. I really believe there are people who work at Bethesda who should lose their jobs! How can you say there is an article of clothing called "General Chase's Overcoat", but when you put it on it's something else. Did no one at Bethesda put it on and switch to 3rd person mode and say "What the hell?" I fell in love with Oblivion and when I heard Bethesda was making a similar game set in the "future", I could not wait. This game has shown me what kind of business Bethesda is and they clearly do not care about the people who buy their games. They don't even have the courtesy to respond to us on here about this issue.

Don't get your hopes up as The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion still has some major bugs that have remained unfixed and it's been ages since it was released.

On GOTY the mission "Report to Cidial Elder Lyons" I go up to him and nothing it just freezes not completely. I can reload and reload but the same thing just stop says nothing and I am there until I reload and it does it again, also when I was fighting General Jingwei it froze constantly, lucky I got him to kill himself! This game is awesome just a few bug that piss me off I hope for a patch soon!

I'm glad I'm not the only one here, since I've been playing GOTY all the DLC's are glitchy as hell, Megaton has some serious staggering which makes it near impossible to walk over to the water guards, and i can guarentee like clockwork after 2 hours it will start to play up, and on top of that 4 out of 10 times VATS freezes and I have to reload AGAIN! these morons need to play Bioshock to see how a huge game works without freezing! What makes it hard for me is i dont have Internet at home and the only way to install the patch is via the PS3 again f**** in the ass by Sony.

Gstaff is the only paid gamesas employee that replies. Unfortunately, there's not much news so the replies are generally vague.

Gstaff definitely knows something, but isn't going to help us one bit at all.

Can't blame him, he's under management orders to keep his lips completely secured since absolutely NOTHING will be done to fix our issues.

That's why I will never buy another Zenimax published game until they do something about Fallout 3 issues. Simple as that.

It was a mistake to release the GOTY in its current state, and hopefully Bethesda realize that and won't let it happen again. But what Bethesda needs now is a dedicated bunch of patch people that on a more regular basis fix many of the issues that we've been having. If they did that then I think the company would earn a lot more respect. Ignoring issues is just ruining their reputation. Remember the Oblivion vampire glitch? For some at Bethesda the vampire glitch was probably no big deal - the game was out so they probably didn't care. But people are still talking about how bad Bethesda is because they didn't fix the issue at the time. The same will be said about the freezing and glitches in FO3 GOTY if they are not fixed and future games by Bethesda will not sell as well because their reputation will have suffered.

I bought Fallout 3. I got hooked, so I picked up Oblivion. My very last and final purchase from Bethesda/Zenimax was Fallout 3 GOTY. Between the screwups in these 3 games I'll be lucky if my head doesn't explode. What makes this an insidious situation is that the games hook me in deep before I find out how intolerably messed up they all are. There are too many games for PS3 that never ever freeze, chop, or glitch for me to put up with this company's inferior products. Tonight I will play Metal Gear or Resident Evil or End War so I can stop cursing at the screen.

Later much.

I didn't get the GOTY but downloaded all the content from PSStore. I think the same bugs are in it. I've played Oblivion but this freezing issue is FAR worse than any Oblivion glitches. People can be tolerant when the games are so fun like these are, but Fallout 3 has gone way over the top with regard to the freezes. There are some parts of maps, like in Point Lookout at the merchant right after you get off the boat, where you simply cannot go without it freezing. I turned off auto save which seemed to help a little bit. The freezes seem to mainly occur near spawn points. So you're walking along and just get into an area where something can spawn and voila, the frame rate tanks and if you are too active, like running or going into VATS, it will freeze up. After you find and kill whatever spawns, provided you can get that far, the game will return to normal.

Combat have become very frustrating and NOT fun at all. I really hope they patch this, I can handle a couple small glitches but something that affects almost every combat situation is a real problem.

At first I thought it was because I used glitches to get all the companions, but I don't have them anymore since going to the various DLCs and it still freezes. Another possible theory relates to how much stuff you have saved. I'm a pack rat so my lockers back in megaton are extremely full (like hundreds of weapons, armor pieces, misc, etc...). Don't know, just thinking out loud. Anyone having problems that does not have a lot of stored items?

This probably would not stop be from buying Oblivion V when it comes out or any other Fallout content, but it will stop me from trying any games they have that I'm not primarily interested in. LI think they have a FPS. I like FPS, not nearly as much as RPG, but no way I'm going to try anything of theirs I'm not super eager to play.

Until then, save save save!

Has anyone did a test with the PS3 version. Like delete all the Fallout 3 Game File and the DLC from the PS Store. Reinstall Fallout 3. Then redownload all the DLC one at a time, except Broken Steel. I wonder if Broken Steel is the one that causes the freezing and crashing.

In my experience with the vanilla version was freezing would start at the level 15 mark and then seem to clear up at the level 20. Once I wasn't getting experience points the game seemed to not freeze like it did between Level 15 and 20.

How is the game at level 30 (my character is still at level 27-28)?

For me I had the problems with the vanilla version and the GOTY, but with the latter its just even more annoying. While in the vanilla version, the game freezed it still went back to normal after some minutes, in the GOTY - Edition it just freezes totally and with more progress made throughout the game it gets even worse. I can stand the FPS issues, the ugly graphics and the popping, but the freezes are unbearable!!!

Only thing I was happy about that I didn't encounter any major quest glitches (like in the PC-Version...), but please, fix the freezing!!

One year on and they still havent fixed it, I bet you there are already hard at work on a new Fallout game. They probably wont fix it, unless something dramatic happens, one thing is for sure I wont be buying another Bethesda game unless it gets fixed. The framerate and all not just the freezing. Please how long would it take for a programmer to allow us to turn of the v-sync or improve the framerate. It's scandalous someone should complain to a consumer show like Watchdog (hint, hint).

I have specifically joined this forum to express my disappointment in the GOTY edition of Fallout 3. Since my purchase I have had nothing but trouble, non stop freezing. The problems are arising mostly when I go into VATS. and when a lot is going on in-game. I feel these issues are totally unacceptable considering the minor bugs present in the vanilla version. I've had the cut scene freeze in the Mothership zeta. the game tanking up when ever a battle is going on (very common) in all installments of DLC. After re-booting 5 times I did finally end up getting past the zeta cut scene freeze only to venture on to The Pitt where I am getting twice as many problems. This game is unbearable! I have been on a few other gaming forums and members are showing absolute disgust regarding this situation. I myself have kept my copy, though so close to returning It I was. Because I trust that a game showing such significant problems not might, WILL have to be corrected.

Sure vanilla version had a few issues, they could be tolerated, this however is almost unspeakable! I honestly cannot conceive how a game with this amount of problems actually was given the go ahead to be sold. Let alone the constant freezing. Please do something Bethesda please..........The amount of disappointment out there is going to ruin the name you made for Fallout 3. I pumped 70 odd hours into the vanilla version, waited months to get this on my PS3 console only to find out I can't play It properly. As I said I have joined this forum especially to express my feelings towards this. I'm sure you guys don't want to much of that going on.

Please, please Bethesda patch this game! The DLC is a nightmare to play with constat freezes and glitches. I'm going crazy. Fallout 3 is without doubt my favourite game but these freezing issues have all but ruined this game for me.I don't even want to load it into my PS3 anymore because I don't want the frustration, aggravation or disappointment of knowing that a freeze some other glitch (slowdown) is inevitable.

PLEASE fix this game! I'm quietly going crazy here.

If they don't fix it then I'm done with them for good.

A few bugs here and there is one thing but this freezing is just uncalled for. The game is damn near unplayable, and from what I see it's not just on our system but on all of them. So they've got to be doing something about it.

An update would be nice, considering the money we've all spent on DLC or GOTY (snort) versions.

Unfortunately this is another post complaining about the glitched GOTY edition.

I bought this two days ago and already it's the most buggy, glitched, broken game I've ever played, (and I've been playing games since 1983).

Simply put, this game is unplayable. It's ruined. Okay, so it can be 'played', (albeit through gritted teeth and on edge), but the experience has been broken.
No longer can you submerge yourself into the world as frame-rate issues, gfx glitches and freezes snap you straight out. Yes the vanilla would occasionally freeze, but this was for a fraction of a second until it continued. Now, everytime there's a freeze you snap out of the gaming experience and think/hope/pray "Please no..." Sometimes it'll resume, more often it's a complete system restart.

Bethesda/ZeniMax. You need to announce you're aware of this and that you're working on it. If it can be fixed via a patch do it. If it can't and requires a product recall, do it. Keeping quiet will only do one thing, alienate people. Alienated consumers = bad PR = loss of customer = loss of revenue = loss of company. Sorry for the very basic lesson there but you must be very simple for releasing such a broken product.

I'd hazard a guess that everyone posting here loves playing your games and have a lot of goodwill towards you?
Are you going to sacrifice all this just to make a bit more money?
Please, put out a press release, talk to us.

I honestly wonder if there are a significant number of PS3 Fallout/GOTY owners who AREN'T experiencing ridiculous amounts of freezing... if this passed developer QA, they must have some kind of magic PS3s to test on over there, but I'm guessing even when they tested the game, it had problems, and they chose to go ahead with it anyways. Pretty shameful story. If you can't release a working product, or even be responsible for your broken ones, you are unprofessional, no two ways about it.

That's a good question, but really hard to answer unless there's some serious polling done. People that come here to this specific forum are already biased towards having issues, so we don't know how many don't come here because they don't know where to go to ask for help or some other reason. On the other hand, we don't know how many people are free of issues either.

Either way, it doesn't dismiss the fact that people are experiencing issues just because it might be a certain number of people or whatever. I think most people will agree that gamesas should do something.
