Bethesda, you can please every player.

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:02 am

"Why not, you can select the options you want"

Really? So you could select the option for spears then, or for MW dice roll combat, or Daggerfall size world, etc This would not even come close to pleasing everyone.

Ugh I really dont understand you people sometimes, there are actually people who want MW dice roll combat back? No wonder Bethesda doesnt listen to their fans.

But onto the subject at hand not everything can be solved with a toggle.

-It′s cold out there. (Two levels.)

Level 1: Weather will affect your attributes if you stay too much time outside with a cold weather. (8 points.)
Level 2: Level 1 applies, and your health will be drained if you stay too much time outside. (13 points. See "Where am I?")

You mean, if we stay ouside to long, it will drain our Fatigue faster...

You should learn what hypothermia does...

And what you are suggesting has things that looks kind-of like Dongeons and Dragons... like for personnality test for weapons, ect...it wouldn't do.

And I don't want Morrowind's roll-dice back... it's a pain...except if we cheated and got a very high LUCK!

FO3NV's level of hardcoe is the most I expect Bethesda would provide for us, either it's yes for hardcoe, or no. OP's idea is good but offers a lot of chance for bugs to happen also, and something no developer would bother to do.

Just because you organized a hardcoe mode doesn't mean every player will be pleased.

I dont even understand that. It just gets to confusing and mest up in my brain. This will not please every player, as a matter of fact it will probably make more players turn away from the game.

Thia method would please all players, casual ones and the ones who want a realism and deep experience.

Here we go!

Imagine you are about to start the game, but before you start you are asked to select some options.

[snip]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my idea, and I needed to express it. And I am completely sure that, if Bethesda implemented it, it would be a complete success.

You can modify what you want, points, add some options, tell your opinion...But no poll this time.

I am sure there would be people who don't want to start off the game by choosing a lot of options. Also I am sure that Beth does not want to try to make a few dozen different games and balance the world to each of them. I think that there are always going to be people upset about something, and the only way for Beth to make a good game is for them to make the game they want, and then sell it to us. If we don't want their game we are quite capable of going to another game.

It's impossible to please everybody. Somebody is always going to be unhappy with the changes that are made like for example getting rid of Mysticism, the continuation of Fallout 3/Oblivion style Fast Travel, or the fact that it's not a Morrowind clone.

You can't please everybody. ESPECIALLY TES players.

We all want too many things,

So many different things.

We are a hard crowd to please. :)

( I always rag on people for using "to" instead of "too". Maybe I should take my own advice.)

+1

I like some of the ideas, not others, but overall it was a good post except for the assumptions. ;)

Please every player? Yeah right. I get really irritated when I see achievements. I hate giant clunky thumbstick-pandering interfaces. I like story more than pretty visuals. I want more content/character options, not less.

hardcoe? Whatever. I don't play a game so I can watch my character eat, sleep and wake up for a piss. I don't care if my guy's been up for 300 hours and hasn't eaten so much as a peanut if I'm having a good time.

I would, however, appreciate not seeing any quests that rely on a giant green arrow to point me in the right direction as a substitute for dialogue that actually gives the impression that the NPC gives a ****.

Edit: Commendable try though. Except for suggesting achievements, for that you should be administered a near-fatal beating.

You might think not, but it's not so simple as just programming it in, but making it work with every other system already in place. It can't just work, it has to work right.

I completely agree with this. I am tired of posts about how everything can be fixed with a toggle option. I really am. http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv175/Proditus/Unnecessary.jpg <_<

you made my day :D and I completely agree with you....all the toggling s fr players who are perfectionists and want to get every single 0.0000000000000000002 percents out of the game

This whole fast travel thing, if your going to compleatly disable the travel make the roads to where your going realistic, I shouldn't run into high level enimies if Im making my way to a paved road into a well-established town. I could see more caniving creatures like Wolves roaming the streets searching for a meal or something but I shouldn't see one of the more mythical creatures like a Frost Troll just sitting on a road that would probably be patroled all day by guards on horseback. But If I veer off into the beaten path im in bad company and should be well prepared if im climbing those thousands of steps out there in the snow.

- 0 - No hardcoe at all.
- 25 - Simple hardcoe.
- 50 - hardcoe.
- 75 - Hard hardcoe.
- 100 - Super hardcoe.

Similar to Daggerfall's Reflex Select-Thingy at the start of the game (except that was for difficulty). Yeah... This MIGHT work.

Too complicate ....

The best to please every player It will be :

hardcoe mode?

[YES] [NO]

Eventually a list of things that can add on the hardcoe mode like Weather , cold etc ... but may be they can be optional add ons ....

I think the OP's idea is unnecessarily convoluted, but he has the basic idea right.

The devs should design the game for the super-hardcoe. And then they should just take out all the features that would make console kiddies cry, and call that "normal" mode. Make some in-between mode too if you want to. Then just give an option at the start, like a difficulty selection. This WOULD please everyone.

This.

I like as much customization as possible. And one person's idea of a "great" game will differ wildly from someone else's, so just because one person might say a game is "great" doesn't make it so. Having more options would give more players the ability to mold the game in small ways to make it the "great" game they want, while someone else can opt for different options to make the game "great" for them. A die-hard Halo, CoD, God of War etc. fan probably wouldn't have the same criteria for a "great" game that an old-school D&D'er or other RPG'er would.
