Bethesdas GRAND plan?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:22 pm

How about TES: Nirn? :(

Or TES: Mundus?

TES: Arena. ;)

You know what would be cool? Bethesda makes a bunch of TES games taking place in different provinces, we already have Morrowind, Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Those are the detailed hand-crafted ones, make some new games taking place in the provinces where Daggerfall took place, and then the rest. Finally, the grand game, combine all of these worlds together, add some graphical improvements, add everything they had already developed for the past games into it. Tweak and optimize a lot.

It should contain:
-The same locations from previous games.
-The same quests from previous games.
-The same NPCs, items, clutter, etc, etc etc.

But overhauled for better graphics and using the new and improved mechanics with some tweaking. In other words, it would be all The Elder Scrolls games, combined into one gigantic world.

Of course, this will definately, never happen. But damn, how sweet would that be? A man can only dream...

I never thought Daggerfall was "too big", I thought the size was a very good feature. I spent years playing that game, and I'm nowhere near visiting every town. And there shouldn't be a need to. Some towns should just "be there", without any connection to any quest line(maybe a couple of Radiant Story quests, by the time TES IX comes out, this will no doubt have been improved to the point where they can generate pretty good semi-random quests). It adds ambience and rewards exploration.

I'm in the other camp. I like there to be something of note in every town. It was so dissapointing finding bleaker's way in Oblivion only for them to say nothing but rumours and have nothing but an inn.

Their grand plan is to destroy the Evil Overlord that is Valve!

Oh wait...

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although i dont like what tf2 has become, and i dont like how i am still waiting for ep3 and dod updates

on topic- tes 7 will have the technology to do the entire world. although we only realy need tamriel and akaviri- i think the plot should be centred around the player building an empire via war/diplomatic stuff. while the player sorts the countries (or destroys) akavir might decide to invade. after you get the empire together you can decide what to do with akavir

I'd rather see some more expansive games within multiple provinces than several individual games over the span of a few decades. A full Tamriel game would be great and I'd hope that they'd go for it as soon as they have the hardware to make such a massive game world.

TES: Oblivion, and I mean the REAL Oblivion not just the Deadlands (or the madhouse if SI expansion is counted)
16/17 Daedric planes of Oblivion to explore :D

Not every realm would really be playable, though. If I recall, some of them are just nebulous expanses of nothingness.

TES XVI: Apocrypha! Your quest is to read every single book Hermaeus Mora has to offer. Good luck. :read:

As far as other provinces, I'm not sure we have to visit every single one in a dedicated game, though I'd hardly complain if that were the case and Bethesda had a good plot for each one. I'd actually rather Akavir was left alone and kept as a mysterious land far away, personally, so I wouldn't lobby for a game set there... though I'm not doubting they'd be able to make something good set there if they set their minds to it anyway.

*50 years down the road*
I can remeber when Morrowind first game out...

Wow, Grandpa is old!

Ya...back then, our controllers were connected by these things called wires...

What's a controller?

...Eh....

As long as they keep up TES, I'll probably keep playing them. Think of the tech they'll have 20 years down the road!

Id love a TES: Tamriel.

Ive always dreamed of a game that has the whole of Tamriel, and your race determines in wich province you start.
Morrowind for Dunmer, Cyrrodill for Imerials etc.

I only want that if the size of one province is not shrunk. If all the provinces stay the size in Morrowind, or at least Oblivion, I would like it. But I don't think they would do it, that type of size would take away from the budget dramatically.

the questline could be you are a black horse courier who has a package stole from him from a drunk wood elf.

you have to hunt him across the continent.

Or, you are looking for like amazing treasure of Tamriel.
You are searching for the corpse of the Adoring Fan near dive rock, and twisted events make you go searching throughout nirn. :>

I'd like to think that they won't just do every province just because they're there. So far they seem to have clear game design and narrative reasons for the games being in the provinces they've been in. I do hope we eventually see games set in Summerset Isle, Valenwood, and in particular, Elswyr or Black Marsh.

But I'm going to be the weirdo and say I would very much like them to make a game on an entirely different continent. Elder Scrolls: Akavir.

EDIT: *Looks up and sees he's not the only one* Sweet. :D

Isn't that a good thing? You'd never have to buy another game! :D

I remember reading about some interesting experiment, where a sort of cap would "read" brainwaves and help you control through it a game character.

I guess my point is, if Bethesda survive the years and decide to embark on this grand scheme, what with the technology by then, whole economies will collapse through people refusing to leave Nirn. :P TESXL : The day Todd accidentally the world.

My ultimate dream is that they'll someday create their own, massive virtual Tamriel. It wouldn't be constrained by technology or how much content the developrs add - the world will progress and grow on its own. Because its inhabitants will be us, when we die and our minds are uploaded to the Todd Howard supercomputer.

Oh, but it'll become self aware someday and it and our virtual selves will invade the real world. :P

Assuming that Google doesnt give us too much knowledge and makes our heads explode.. I'll go off on a limb here and say. *crappy super-deep narration voice* In the future.. Bethesda Game Studios creates massive spheres with EPIC surround sound where the player stands in the middle.. When the player presses start WHOOOOSHHH!! The game is projected somehow on the surrface of the ENTIRE sphere.. This means that if you want to turn around in game, you turn around in real life, if you want to draw your sword... or staff. You would make the motion..... You guys get me? Epic?
