Dude, that was a camera that started maybe 5 miles above the surface of the mountains and went down from there, but the "earth" was all lightened to seem like it is so massive and being looked at from the stratosphere. Look at the scale. That sh1t of an earth is a few hundred miles in diameter.
Besides the trick is that it's all made of a few basic elements.

I'd figure with either Skyrim (but probably not) or the next one they will have the ability to add entire provinces as expansions. I mean it really only took three years to make Skyrim, and with all the gameplay features done, it isn't much of a stretch to assume they could fill a vast region of land in a year with an expansion. Considering that technology advances so quickly i would probably expect a really huge game after Skyrim. By then we will have the new generation of consoles.

TESVI would be the perfect chance to start building the world of Nirn, game by game. Hardware tessellation will allow "rendered CGI" quality models to be used in the game. That way, you could up tessellation value as hardware gets better.

Actually, your right about what Tamriel means, your wrong what Nirn means. Arena is just the name that was given to Tamriel when Jagar Tharn was in power. After the return of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, it was no longer called "The Arena" because the chaos was ended by Uriel Septim taking control back after being freed from his prison in Oblivion.

Best RPG ever. It will cause a TES religion to sprout up IRL and then things basically go the way of the Futurama Star Trek episode.

Oh, I'm sure they have a plan of some kind. Like the previous TES games leading up to Skyrim, prophecising the return of the dragons.

Eurrrh... in The Elder Scrolls, it's exactly the opposite. The Gods lose their power and become mortals. And games were not pointing to Skyrim, as far as I know. They just... improvise. With cool results.
