Bethesdas mistakes that shouldnt be repeated with Skyrim.

When I played Morrowind in loved stealing and treasure hunting, I was pretty disapointed in oblivion when I got to the bottem level of a dungeon and found forks and spoons in a treasure chest (happen to anybody else?) or pickpocketed a shop keeper and could not find the key to all his goods. Hopefully Skyrim will be more like Morrowind in this regard and give us some cool stuff to find right off the bat.

why do people refer to conscious design decisions as "mistakes".

Because they took what was fun and in one game and made it boring.

Way to give examples of things that also happened in Morrowind.

forks and spoons only apeared in a few chests that were not specificly treasure chests but chests that were holding personal belongings of bandits or maruaders, and they are the ones found in tents. but normal dungeon chests never spawn spoons and whatever (at least not that I ever saw, but I have been playing for 4 years so...) I agree sort off that merchants should have better stuff to steel or at least more gold to steel if they only sell steel and lower.

the reason you did not get very cool stuff right off the bat is because in MW every thing was hand placed with the exception of a couple of barrels and crates that randomly generate goods (the best of which were potions) OB loot is based on your level so that you don't run straight to the best armor and weapons that are always in the same place. thats just balance.

except like Velorien said the same [censored] happened in Morrowind. i mean yeah it made slightly more sense to find a fork in a crate than it did to find a fork in an Ayleid sarcophagus but still.

also I DON'T LIKE IT doesn't mean something is a mistake.

Regardless of whether or not they're mistakes, I'd quite like to see fewer NPCs with generic names: might be a long way down the list of priorities, but it'd be nice for them to have a bit more individuality, even if the names are just auto-generated. Hopefully the malarky with scaling and so forth have already been addressed, but if not, that too.

Edit: I'd also like to see the "I saw a mudcrab the other day" conversation expanded on. A lot.

I guess thats my main critisim, not as much hand placed stuff.

Are people trying to say the Ayleids didn't use forks?

If you were only finding forks and spoons in Morrowind, you weren't looking hard enough. :miner:

Yeah, maybe not. However he's entiled to his opinion. Whether or not you think it's a mistake is entirely your own.

I'm with you man. Oblivion didn't live up to the dungeon plundering goodness that was Morrowind.

Hand placed goodies stuffed into obscure places please, Bethesda. :tes:
