Currently polishing off the finishing touches on a player home of mine and I noticed that vanilla bookshelves are just borked. If you place some books on one shelf, then activate and place some on another whilst the first shelf is still processing it completely breaks the 2nd shelf (and maybe the first too).

Can anyone recommend any bookshelf related mods? Or know of a fix?

I'm not super keen to reinvent the wheel and script new bookshelves from the ground up - Although I might be able to get away with disabling the player controls whilst a shelf is updating.... sounds very intrusive

I do not know if this is what you are looking for, but this is what I use to help place books http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49770/?. It does require SKSE. You do need to give this script time to work, but once you see the books placed in-game it is done, usually only need to wait a few seconds.

EDIT: The mod is an older mod but it still works fine and I have not had any conflicts with it.
