Start new game
Alternative Begginings in IC house
Do the task to have the main quest completed (involves picking up an orb in Tiber Septim Hotel.
Play the game mods I installed.
I'm assuming this is some sort of mod you have that causes the MQ to be skipped entirely?

Also, for once I feel young! 1971 here :)

Some good music from that decade :)

For the MQ skip the mod I use is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14904

First I find the amulet from your Alternative start mod to start the MQ. Then I go pick up the orb at Tiber Septim basemant and that runs through the stages in less than a minute. When complete I am champion. Soon the chancelor finds me for the final dialogue to tell me about my armor.

No problems with Kvatch rebuilt. Sancte Tor is untouched as though you were never there. The great Sygil stone is still in whatever that ruin is. In Bruma where the siege engine is you find two dremora to kill and find one random sigil stone.

Barus is in Cloud ruler temple. Talk to him twice to get the skill bonus.

You get the fame and the experience. Don't have to mess with main quest and you are champion at level 1.

If using your Cyrodiil Travel service you need an extra step. All the guides will not transport you to any city except Bruma saying the gate is still open. You need to go to all those gates outside the cities (from allies for Bruma) and console 'closecurrentobliviongate' to open that ciity for travel. Other than that it is a charm.

I got turned on to this by BladeOfMercy.

You can then remove the mod.

You have a very messy way of testing mods. If you've gone and saved changes into multiple characters with BC installed and open cities toggled on, then yes you now need to reinstall BC and toggle those cities all closed again for every character. You really need to stop playing with every character you have while testing new mods. Just use one character (preferably a new one created purely for testing new mods) and then you can delete that character once you're happy with your load order.
If you have saves for your characters from before you tested BC, you could load those instead of the latest ones.

You are totaly right about that, very messy, and unorganised...
Something had to be done about that...
I already cleaned every mess up again, and get real handy with it.
Cleaned my unused modslist along the way, and cleaned all the itm records with tes4edit..
I have al my saves organised and updated, and a clean character, just for testing hangs around in the prisoncell....
Not a big deal realy, when done it a couple of times... :spotted owl:

I feel good about myself now, and that is the most important: Good Mood.

You'll have to go through the same process for each character, they are all affected as they once had BC installed.

To diff, in Bash Saves tab, right click on a save and select Diff Masters. Which will probably tell you what you know, you uninstalled BC.

One of the best Alt Start mods out there (IMO) - http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37382

Well, i just started and did the job. I got myself into it, so i got to get myself out again..took my half a day, but hey, having a good time, learn a thing or two!
What more do you want?

I downloaded that mod, and will take a look at it.... (if only you knew, how many mods i want to try out... i'll never be ready before skyrim arrives....)

Alternative beginnings by Arthmoor is the best I have see with best options.

Also, if you are interested in bypassing the main quest (got old for me after the 3rd time) I have a mod that does it and works great. My usual start of a game is:
Start new game
Alternative Begginings in IC house
Do the task to have the main quest completed (involves picking up an orb in Tiber Septim Hotel.
Play the game mods I installed.

Your an old fart BTW, I was born in '62, still young and kicking. Now time for nap. :snoring:

Well, MQ, the first time i was to quick finishing it...i did not know that all the gates were gone immediately, so i had got far too less sigilstones....
Second time i did it the right way, i thought..the third time i finished about 99%, and got bored by PS3.
Saw a movie on youtube from Ancient Towers, by William Sea, was immediately sold, and switched to PC, that was a few months ago....
Than i got totaly overwhelmed by the amount of mods around for OB.... too much, if you ask me.... But many of them i have to taste, enevedeble....
And that is how i winded up on this nice forum, with helpfull people, and some old fires still softly burning....

[Edit]Old Fart, thanks, but you're closing in fast, just a diff 6 years?
