[Req] Better Corprus Disease

Post » Fri Jul 12, 2013 5:00 am

I've always been a little disappointed in Corpus disease. There very few adverse effects to having the disease, and there's little incentive to be cured. I think it would be very cool if the disease hindered the player from equipping armor, weapons, clothes as the disease progressed. This could be accomplished by forcing the player to wear certain items in place of their armor. These items would be made to look like growths resulting from corprus disease. As the disease progresses the player would eventually become covered in these growths which would hinder the player greatly. Eventually people would become hostile towards you and guards would attack you on site. I lack the scripting and modeling know-how in order to pull this off, but I would be overjoyed if anybody here could create such a mod.

Honestly guards should be hositle at the first sign of the disease, it would make it more interesting to get to casius and to tel fyr in one piece

I completely agree. I love Morrowind's main quest. The story is superb, but getting the most dangerous disease in all of Tamriel cured felt more like taking a walk in the park.

The sound mod Logitech and I are working on (link in signature) adds creepy, whispering voices in your head when you have corpus disease. The voices occur increasingly often the longer you have the disease.

I would like to see the cure corpus quest to be (reasonably) extended, like Fyr needs an ancient book from some dwemer ruin and a few days to study it. This way the disease could have more impact as you have to carry it for multiple days, instead of curing it the same day you catched it...

Of course Fyr is studying corpus for a long time, but maybe there is just that one book he never got hands on, that only the player can find ... much like that cure vampirism book.

I agree with this, though this one is not entirely Bethesda's fault. Essentially, what would need to be done, is a series of sequential models for each race and six, showing the progression of the disease, such as using textures and bits of models from the Corprus Stalker and the Lame Corprus, until you look very similar to a Lame Corprus, depending on how long the disease progression would be scripted.

The PC could be forced to sleep, and that is when a new model for a given race, say Dunmer for example, would appear in game, and do so for each stage of progression, such as a few carbuncles here, a lesion there, up until you have full scale edemae with clumpy, hypertrophic growths.

The visual depiction of Corprus would be quite an undertaking indeed, from both an animation (applying hobbling, wobbly animations), and the aforementioned gross disease progression.

Yet again, I marvel at thee, Herr Bitt!!!!! *THIS* is precisely what Bethesda should have done!!!!!! Divath Fyr may be millenniae and a few score old, but even he doesn't know *EVERYTHING* there is to know about Vvardenfell proper. Besides, what better stooley to do his work for him than one under duress with a terminal illness...?

Now, I can place blame whence it belongs, in Bethesda's flaccid lap.-D

So you turn into a psychotic mess. Nice idea.

I will think about it the next days and might make that little mod soon.
Working on MAO seriously limits my mod release output :yuck:

When I tested it very late, with headphones in a dark room - hearing those whispers while stumbling out of that sixth house base after contacting corpus was real scary!
If you have corpus for a long time, 'psychotic mess' seems like the correct expression.

You should! I have noticed your impressive body...of work; I have little doubt of your prowess and stamina...for "modding release output". *giggle*

Oooh! That sounds most immersive and gives the creepies! It is the correct expression, as even Divath Fyr and other canon *does* testify to the psychological and psychiatric debilitating effects from progressive Corprus.-D
