[REQ]Better Dagoth Ur Thread II

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 3:39 pm

Thanks, lack of motivation is a big problem when you're working with someone else though!
Forget about what I said about BB earlier, with a little extra legwork on my part I should be able to get it working nicely.

I've got to fix up some glitches in the movement, and fix the looping,http://s647.photobucket.com/albums/uu195/mark507_album/morrowind/animations/?action=view¤t=Movie_0009.flv.

And It Was a Happy Ursday
All the children joined hands and sang together in the spirit of harmony and peace
Much praise was sung to great Ursday heros Dirnae and Westly
And afterwards we all got drunk and went to Burger King*
Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray!

*Or IHOP or whatever place you go with your friends after a hard night's whistle wetting.

IHOP loves drunk people!

Lo and behold people, I have an Ursday update! (For once.)
As you've probably guessed, I've been using the animkit to test these anims (thank god for Liztail).
Well, needless to say, when testing dagoth's walk, the cantons of Vivec took on a completely different atmoshpere:

Thanks for the support! Spellcasting is pretty much done, I might post it up as an animkit mod for those of you who are curious to try out.

Bwahaha! The Ordinators seem so grumpy now! I love it!

I like the first-person view of the walk. Is there a way that that's what we would see in first-person, and see your other animations in third-person? I noticed a little graphical hiccup on the Ordinator when he goes from the idle to walking, but am I correct in assuming that this won't be a problem for D-Ur since his idle is sort of crouched anyway?

EDIT: And hell yes I want to try out his spellcasting! :chaos:

Yes, they do look very grumpy! :D

You're right, Ur uses a different idle stance, so for him it'll blend smoothly.
The 1st. person is actually the run from DN's 1st. person enhanced, the 1st. person animations are seperate from the 3rd person ones though, so I could make 1st. person animations for them.

I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far, other than a slight spine deformation with BB, it's looking alright with NPCs (Dagoth Ur race anyone? :shifty: ).
I'll check the spellcasting out again and upload it round the weekend (maybe SatUrDay?).

In regards to the spine deformation, maybe Westly could add a cape/cloak to D-Ur (assuming it wouldn't clip too badly with his hair) that would hide it. If not, the heart chamber is dark and hazy anyway, so it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Ah, sorry for the confusion, the deformation actually occurs on the stomache, I'm used to saying 'spine' though because it's caused by the spine bone.
The BB mesh isn't skinned to one of the spine bones, so if you bend the spine forward too much, it looks wierd, as if it's collapsing in on itself. :/

I've reduced this quite a bit by decreasing how far the spine bends, it isn't as bad as it used to be, so hopefully it should be ok.
I might be able to reduce it further by bending the pelvis actually. If that works it should look perfect.

Awesome-tastic! An update on Ursday!

Yeah, I agree, the ordinators look grumpier than usual.

Did Westly send you a copy of the Dagoth Ur BB mesh? It would be cool to see the new animations applied to the new mesh as you go.

No, I never recieved the mesh.
I'd rather Westly release the mesh though, even if it's just somewhere temporary.
Then I can test it with his creature, people don't have to wait for me to finish my animations, and he can update his Ur later if he wants to.

That is so impressive. Although I am already happy with my Voryn companion, to see him do those casting animations would be icing on the cake. Not to mention the animation where he puts his hands on his hips and laughs. I would be squeeing for hours if he did that.

Maybe he'll send it to you if you ask him, so you can work on the animations using the mesh.

I've actually fought a few NPCs and creatures who used his spellcasting while testing, it looks really good on them.
If you want any of the animations editing for use with vanilla animations (for NPCs etc.), just say and I'll give it a go when these are finished.
Shouldn't take too long, I'll just blend them into the vanilla idle animation.

@Greendogo: I could pm him, but I'm lazy and he'll read this thread anyway. :coolvaultboy:

I'll send the files Dirnae's way when I get a spare chance; I am not at home ATM, else I would send them now :).

Gotta run :bolt:

I've been focusing on my animation mod atm.
I'll fix a little problem with the hands (thumbs are the wrong way around) over the weekend and upload them.

Westly, I don't suppose you ever made a finalized full mask (since I seem to recall that the one you showed was unfinished, though I could easily be wrong :P)

Also, Ash Vampires? :D
