[REQ]Better Dagoth Ur Thread II

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 3:35 pm

If/when the individual modders make their own [WIPz] threads, this thread can be locked/lost to the ages.
This is the DU I have modded for DNDGR version 2 .... the legs & that loin cloth is what bugged me the most about the vanilla model ...... if yours is better I would prob want to use it.

I did this same mod to the Ashvamps ... different textures of course.

Like http://i31.tinypic.com/ic2zvl.jpg I had tried to make him look buff, I think it could do with some more veins though.
==================================
I say, your wrong! http://i31.tinypic.com/qrayqh.jpg

I'm working on it, the texture needs edits here and there still, since I'm hiding a lot of seams with vertex shading, but the bad looking parts of it aren't bad looking anymore, and it seems to be looking good too with the animations, no huge distortions or anything.

Does anyone want a Dagoth Ur with a BB mesh? Means you could attach clothes and such to him.
I transferred the animations to a biped this morning, can't say how well it will work though...

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_FACE1.jpg (subject to many versions
and alterations/possible playable race, "Children" of Dagoth Ur, or something like that...)

No need for comment; just putting it out there to keep myself motivated
===================================
I've updated the previous face a bit (made the eyes smaller and added dark circles
of brown and red to the outer and inner lids with a slight droop [as if he has been
awake for a very long time]; I also finished up his eyebrows [with pointed
ridges along the arch to enhance his devious nature] as well as giving the beard a
bit of brown tone and shading to dirty it up a bit). This version has the ears added
as well as a slight scowl (wheras the expression was previously neutral).

Good Night and Good Morning, All
===================================
I had some free time this afternoon so I made a few masks:

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_MASK_TEST1.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_MASK_TEST2.jpg

(I will make another full mask that is similar to the half mask in
that the face part seems to hug the contours of the face).

I had fun with these, but I am not completely satisfied with them just yet (need to enhance
the rusted elements and decrease the shine just a bit). I might also do another half mask
with the third eye exposed
===================================
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_SCREEN1.jpg

I have a bit more to do, but wanted to show what is finished so far (I still want
to add a ring or two to his hands/claws and finish up the third helm option).
So far, I am satsfied with the overall look (though I might dirty up his hair a bit
more; though, one could argue that while he was waiting on the player character,
he had time to brush his hair [one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand...])

Heh, thanks for starting up a new thread Lucien.
I'll try and get the animation finished soon Westly. A playable race sounds fun too, I can edit the animations for use with NPC's if you want them to have some of the animations too (they wont have particles, so you only really want to use some of the animations for NPC's, though I guess they wont use those idles that use them anyway).
It should just be a quick text key edit, and editing the player in the CS (you'll walk/run and be the same size as the dagoth race before the race menu, but if you have the optional .esp activated I'd assume you were going to play as them anyway). ^_^

I'm sure you're already aware of this (and I do realize that that was a WIP screenshot), but the
mask seems way more detailed than the rest of the gold armor. I don't know if you've put the
final touches on yet, but I just thought I would mention it :)

You can't see it in the screens from which you drew your conclusion, but no worries,
as the other golden parts have just as much detail as the mask (though the
mask is still meant to be the focal point) ;) .

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_SCREEN5.jpg

Not much more to do on my end as far as the creature goes, but I will work
on the race (with female options as well) and making sure that all the gear
is wearble for both sixes. I will also begin working on unique looks for each
of the Ash Vampires (thematically the same, but with slight variations in the
apparel that is worn by them).

I would have started my own WIP thread, but since this one is opened I will
be happy to use it (no need to clutter the forum with more of my nonsense :embarrass: )

Gotta Run (literally) :bolt:

Hmm so if your making armor for this will the player be able to get a full set or just the hands as dagoth ur does not wear a curass. Are you going to make a cuirass or just the legs and gloves?

Will this be done like almalexia bb where their are two esp's one for armor and one for the creature retex?

Will the half mask count so that argonians and kajiits can where it?

For the first part of your question, the neck piece is not part of the
mask, so that would be the "cuirass", as it will cover more in its female
counterpart.

Secondly, ATM, I do not think that my part will be a pluginless replacer (that is, unless Dirnae's
animations are already scaled larger/proportionate to the original stature of Dagoth Ur). If
that is not the case, then I would have to use the scale function in the CS to give him the
appropriate height  . However, it is too soon to give you a definitive answer on that.
Regardless, there will be an .esp that adds the race and armour/clothing (so it would not
necessarily need to be pluginless, though such could be possible). Also, there is only
one .esp in my Almy mod which adds the armour (the creature models are pluginless).

I will have to make a different version for Khajiit and Argonians to wear (with an open face).
This, however, is not something I am working on right now in favour of getting it working right
for the upright races. let alone the beasties as well.

Ah, OK. Looking at it again, I can see the detail even in a full-body shot. I think the issue is that the body elements are more faded out than the mask (as in, the mask is a more vivid yellow, and seems to have more shine on it). I don't know if that's exactly it, I just know that there seems to be a discrepancy between the mask and the other gold elements.

In another request that you can ignore if you want :P, do you think you could add some chains/amulets/misc jewelry around his neck in addition to the one neck piece?

I was skeptical that you could do anything to improve upon Darknut's retexture, but... [censored]. Color me impressed. I will definitely be using this once it's done. I just have to get bored of my modded Oblivion first...

Westly, as always, way to steal the show! I like both mask versions. I think it would be cool to somehow work them both into the playable mod.

Thought- correct me if my lore is wrong, but wasn't Dagoth Ur already in touch with the Heart's powers to some extent when Nerevar slew him? If so, would that give him some resistance to Azura's curse, as evident in Vivec and Almalexia's appearance? I feel like that would mean he should have some Chimer left in his own appearance.

From "Nerevar at Red Mountain":

And then the Tribunal went into Red Mountain and met with Dagoth-Ur. Dagoth-Ur saw what had been done, for his skin had changed as well, and he tried to avenge the death of Nerevar but to no avail. He was driven off and thought dead. The Tribunal found the tools he had been guarding and, through study of Kagrenac's methods, turned themselves into gods.

Darn. Well, ash-skinned or not these are all very impressive.

There seems to be so much detail in the trinkets and they looks great! however the skin is so noticeably blurry and low res looking which becomes obvious when show with the jewelry.

Actually. The Tribunal can look however they wish. Vivec and Sotha Sil just kind of 'embraced' it. Almalexia likely was too vain to change her appearance. I have no idea why Dagoth Ur chose the Dunmer Hue. Perhaps it helps the populace see him as one of them, he is a Mad God after all

Hhhmmm, would it be possible to add Dogoth Ur's walking\running animations to an NPC? Or perhaps to at least the PC? :hubbahubba:

Because seriously, those animations are just much more natural looking.

Well I've converted them onto the NPC Biped skeleton, so yes.
The run looks more natural, but the walk makes it so your character stomps everywhere. :biglaugh:

Hmmm, well, the run alone would be worth it imo, as it is, just fun to watch! :P

Did I mention, this is looking sweet?
