[WIPz] Better Ebonheart

Post » Sun Apr 10, 2011 4:41 am

I've recently started working on this one, and so far I've been pretty pleased with the results, I wanted to make something on here so I could get a bit of feedback as I progress.

Anyways, here are some screens of what I've done so far, so you can kind of get an idea for what I'm going for,

I was always disappointed with Ebonheart - for the main port of Vvardenfell it was seriosly lacking in shops - I don't have too many mods that are for the castle - just the imports and the tapestries so hope you will add some life in the buildings as well

Hi, glad to see this city get expand.

here is my feedback of your screenshots.

1
the layout is good but looks too simple. I think a "before, after" screenshot can tell more.

2
suggest use Barabus Imperial Housing Resource instead of the ingame original house meshes. to enhance the look.

3
too many stone buidings, less house for normal citizens.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll have to check out this imperial housing you mentioned. One other thing I was hoping to do with this would require a much larger archway for the imperial walls. Does anyone know of a mod that has something like this?

TR had a wall arch almost twice as wide as the normal one.

Also, two suggestions
- perhaps try to replace the awnings with the ex_common_awning_wood_01? I'd help to keep the town truly imperial in style
- the area in front of the chapel could use some more plants (and, perhaps, a miniature female statuette). It could be then explained as a small shrine to Kynareth (as it was seen in Knights of the Nine)

when i redid Ebonheart for my game a built HEAPS of "water" houses along the moat area, they were on stilts and stuff and the pathways were made of docking, it looked really cool... sorta like the original concept for the imperial city before OB.

I do plan on expanding everything. Interiors, and exteriors. I'm also going to do outside of the walls, but for now I was focusing a bit more on the interior walls, and making that into a sort of marketplace I guess. I'm going to do the docks after that, then outside the walls, the most likely focus on the castle last.

I also felt that Ebonheart was a little undeveloped in the vanilla to represent as a province capital in the empire. This looks exciting and promising.
I agree with Illuminiel about some living quarters or perhaps a small lodgings for the merchants, trader and other visitors.

I suggest that you add a small lodging or shops between the stairs on the third picture where that... what you call it and up to the right a few booths may fit in there.

The entrance to the Argonian Mission is looking good  , but in front of the Imperial Mission entrance (that's the entrance door I suppose) and there is something missing perhaps add something that reflects their status. That could be some benches there in front of the door.

I'm looking forward to see how this area take shapes. :)

i'd say if you are going for a full revamp. don't worry about the original lines too much. make the keep proper larger and more ostentatious, lots of banners and flags and such. expand the dock area enormously, give the EEC a more pronounced presence there. make all the missions more like a true embassy in that they all have their own fence around them. a true metal one. and take over the small island to the south with ebonheart's city proper. all the houses and such. and give plenty of evidence that all the stuff from the various mines and such get transported from here. carts, boxes, guars, pens. and even maybe a small tent city just outside the north gates.

Nice Ideas. Seems like this will be an interesting alternative to my WIP MNC: Ebonheart.

I've been making quite a bit of progress on this before, and after work everyday. This whole thing keeps growing bigger than I ever thought it would. I'll hopefully have enough done after tonight to really show a bit more of what I have done.

I wound up doing a lot of reworking. I removed a large amount of walls, etc.. I don't want to show the parts outside the walls, that I've already posted, until they're at least mostly completed.

I like the look of it all, ebonheart to me was very very small and its basically about a mile away from the city of Vivec and that makes it feel shunted out of the public eye, so modes like these, to me make it more appealing. I think it needs to be bigger and maybe a guild more or something to give itself its own background :)

feedback:

1
the new meshes make the whole town looks much better than before.

2
suggest add walls around the middle area of screenshot named "Overview". because it need protect. but the guar stable may not need "inside" the wall.

3
from the screenshots i guess your thought is : make the eboneheart into 3 parts, 1th is castle for army, 2th is still noble and army who lives in the stone buiding area., 3th is the more warm and lively looking area, consist of living area and a simple dock. for business men, commers, and foreigers. tavern, trading shop......

4
I guess the dragon statue may feel better if you place it near a church. or add a market area around it. and the houses i guess need some wood walls around and flowers.
and also, I suggest add a well.

Actually a little different how I'm doing things. I'm even making some pretty major changes to what I have now.

Once I have this, which I see as the best layout I've come up with thus far, I'll post it. I was wondering though, if anyone knows of any wrought iron fences that have been made for Morrowind.

try search barabus's graveyard modderresource.

there is iron fences for graveyard, guess it also can use for alive people.

or may be you like to consider to retexure the ingame wood fence in seyda neen to iron.

That was great. So here's the new layout I promised.

http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/NazoX9/Layout.jpg

1. is the castle area.
2. is the market. Walled in, and nothing but shops, inn, the prison, etc..
3. is the actual village. Nothing but houses.
4. is the East Empire headquarters, and dock area.

Edit: I'm also going to make a patch for people using my pack guar mod that adds a merchant to the ebonheart stables.

I'm also going to be getting help on this from tes96 who's worked on other city expansion mods. I think together we can put out a really great Ebonheart expansion.
