[Relz] Better Morrowind Armour Add-On 2.0

Post » Fri Jun 28, 2013 7:14 am

If that happens, I really hope the small bug I encountered regarding a messed up texture path giving Dunmer women Breton-hued ladybits gets fixed.

I noticed this too... looked more like the normals being screwed up IIRC. Made me switch back to the old version of BB.

I checked the mesh and it's using the Breton texture instead of the proper Dunmer one.

Might have been a different version I looked at, the version I saw had the correct texture paths, but the nether regions of the model were unusually bright. If the one you're referring to is simply a texture mismatch, should be simple enough to address in Nifskope. Anyway, I feel this thread has gotten really offtrack, so many tangents.

Very fine work, not overdone like "sixy armors" but enough to tell a woman from a man.

I've been waiting for something like this for a very long time, so many thanks to you, Tiebrakre! :)

As for all that talking about "realism" (meh... even MEN decorated their armor, historically, and most of that stuff made them less protective. Here you go :ermm:)...

Rules are simple:

- Criticism about technical stuff, yes ("textures are ovestretched", "there are clipping issues", etc.).

- Criticism about "I don't like the concept", no.

Don't like, don't use. It's not like someone if forcing you.

Thank you for this mod tiebrakre .. It is wonderfully done and not overdone with super sonic gigantic boobs..

In more than 10 years it's about time!

As for those who come here and shout and shake their fists..

VERY RUDE!

You don't like this mod? Don't use it. Very simple concept.

IT is a single player game.. NO one is forcing you.

I'll remember your nasty comments the next time YOU release something..

Exactly. Constructive criticism is fine, but ultimately it's the modder's choice what (s)he does with the armor. It's a fantasy game, too. I think that part of the discussion is done.

Only one "unconstructive" comment causes dozens of replies explaining critisism rules, even days and weeks later...

Just the one? I remember there being a few, which is why it's still being talked about, PB. Anyway, what's done is done and Tiebrake is still working on the mod so we're waiting for some updates young lady. :P

They are coming along, Jac. *grins*

I have the reduced bust plug-inless replacers just right now, for the existing plate armours (Silvers, Dwemer, Nordic Iron), and slightly expanded torsos, so they are not quite so skin tight, but still form fitting. Finding the right balance has been an exercise in minutiae. **giggles**

I tried using the existing Bethesda male meshes, applying tessellations, vertices, and other modifiers, and the results are just not aesthetically pleasing to me, particularly the Orsimer (which is the big hold on an update and is the most resistant to creative UVW mapping as the stock textures are very ornate). The Iron simply looks ugly, even with some creative UVW mapping, and I want all the updates to use "stock" Vanilla textures, excepting the Silvers (Duke's Silver, in particular; if my PM's are any guide, this is the most popular one), as it is nigh impossible to get the look I want with conventional UVW mapping and retain the flavour of the current release.

I am a little hesitant to release the updates, but I am stubborn and want this project out of BETA status completely in one 2.0 release, so I don't have to return to it. Ever.

My texture projects have been taking up most of my modding time, as another modder is depending on them for a mod release.

Edit: Content and Speeling **laffs**

I'm curious if Moranar is still working on Better Armor, or if you've taken over the project, tiebrakre?

I cannot speak for Moranar; however, the armour sets that I want to BB-fy (Trollbone and Dragonbone) will get completed whence I achieve more practical skill with 3ds Max. Moranar has more skill and talent in Moranar's little finger than I do in my entire body, and lil' ole me attempting to BB-fy Complete Armours for Morrowind is laughable at best.-D

Keep in mind, a little over a month ago, I had scant to no experience with any modelling software (forget 3ds Max), still unable to use Blender, and an old copy of Gmax was my training wheel.-))))) My only practical skills before that were some proficiency with NifSkope and a solid foundation with Photoshop. So, I continue to make some progress. I did mention I am stubborn....**giggle**

Kiteflyer61 keeps telling me...just keep practicing and skill will come. I have had to learn several new things just for my simple Redoran interior ceiling tile fixes (I am partially re-building them in blender, and redoing UVs on the tiles and not just re-texturing them)

Take your time, TB. Modeling is like cooking: the more you do it, the better you'll become. ;)

But don't take too long, I want more pictures.

I feel kinda bad about not responding to this sooner, but I tend to put off responses that I feel require a bit of actual thought for when I'm actually in a state of mind to, well, think. And between having been on shift at work and spending every free second of my free time [censored] out my Final Fantasy VI mod/overhaul, I've just been a bit out of it lately. I'm quite aware that ye olde mod list...e has been feeling rather neglected as of late, and it was my intent to go back and update it where necessary as soon as things start to settle down a bit, as I'm sure that plenty has gone on around here in my absence.

As for the topic at hand, I'm not familiar with Moranar's mod (and sweet mother of f'ing Celestia, TES Nexus gets worse every time I go there - I think the admin hates people or something), but I'll have a look at it when my internet decides it wants to quit acting like an idiot. I did grab your plugin, though (insert your own joke here about me grabbing something *else*) and noticed that it's got dirty GMST's in it. Getting rid of them is pretty easy; if you need help with it, let me know.

Other than that, welcome to the community. These are good folks (they put up with *me*, after all) and are the reason that a 10 year-old game is still better than pretty much everything else being made these days. Glad to have ya.

I am thrilled you responded! Feel not bad, what with all those mono-orbited Swedish fiery sirens and such.-)

Oh beans!!!! Yes, please help with this, as I thought I cleaned the mod of all those pesky things! I've been naughty now....**giggle**

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to familiarise yourself with Moranar's genius and thank you for D/Ling the mod(s).

With one noted and pronounced exception, it's been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you for the warm welcome, BTB. **blush**

All righty, GMST-busting 101. There are a couple of ways to do this; I suggest using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=utilities.detail&id=24. It's a useful tool not just for removing GMSTs, but for getting a quick overview of all of the changes a mod makes and selectively cutting out problematic ones.

Once you have it, go ahead and open up your plugin in it, then go to editor -> view all .esp data. http://btb2.free.fr/temp/gmst_01.jpg.

All of those are "dirty" GMSTs that the CS adds to any plugin that isn't dependent on Tribunal/Bloodmoon because it's a piece of [censored]. Let's get rid of them.

Go to operations ->auto-delete unclean and let TESPCD do its thing. Then go to editor -> view all .esp again, and you'll see http://btb2.free.fr/temp/gmst_02.jpg.

Those two remaining GMSTs are the two that TESPCD for whatever reason doesn't seem to recognize. Highlight both rows and then hit "Delete" to get rid of them.

And that's it. You don't have to save the changes because TSPCD has already done it for you (along with creating a backup file which you can safely get rid of). Let me know if you've got any problems so that I can help prevent any future... erm, "naughtiness" >.>

Hi,

The link to TESPCD is dead.

Try http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/475/?. :)

Ugh, what's the deal with PES? First they were going to be shut down but then they weren't, and now half of their links are dead and you can't submit new mods?

Has GHF started hosting everything yet?

http://mw.modhistory.com/ is hosting most of PES' mods that could be downloaded (those without dead Fileplanet links) and Wolflore hosts a number of advlt mods as well.

For preventing GMSTs Wyre's http://mw.modhistory.com/download--14595 is wonderful thing when you only wish to be working with Morrowind esm.

P.S. I prefer Tes3cmd for cleaning mods. Easier and more thorough than TESPCD. If you wish more info on how, read my http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?style=5&f=9&t=5734

Have you considered a release merging this with your other release, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1463252-relz-expanded-lefemme-armour-10/?

I, for one, would use it. At least, now that the aging LeFemme armours have received some loving care. :D

May I answer? We have planned to include these meshes into Better Morrowind Armor 0.5.2, with updated female Glass Cuirass.
