Better Music System

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:53 pm

I was wondering if someone can help me out here.

I have everything required for this mod, and I have installed it correctly. But when one track finishes up, the next one will not start, no matter what. A delay between tracks I can understand, but this can't be intentional.

Now, since I haven't altered anything beyond disabling the custom tracks for certain regions (which otherwise I had another problem with silence.mp3 constantly playing in place of music), I can't believe that I'm the only one with this issue. It's probably human error on my part, but surely someone else has encountered this at least once before me.

Sorry for the long blab. Thanks for any potential assistance.

I've just corrected a problem related to BMS, involving the OBSE plugin it requires (enhanced music control), I had to enable compatibility mode for WinXP... I'm using win7 64 bit... for it to work properly... didn't know your situation, but if it helps, then good.

Make sure you have the two required obse plugins installed.
My audio hardware only worked right with bDSoundHWAcceleration=1 in Oblivion.ini (before the BMS mod with EnhancedMusicControl was installed, that is...).
Every bit of information helps. Your mileage may vary though.

BTW, on what files did you set the compatibility mode: Oblivion.exe or obse_loader.exe?

Geez, I better start collecting these posts...

(Where is that BMS thread?!)

Wow, I think this suggestion works! Because I did what you said (BTW, I also have 7 64-bit), and waited for the first track to play out, and the next one started up! Yahoo! Thank you, hopefully this means it is working properly and I don't have to come back and look like a fool.

You're definitely not a fool if you had an issue and solved it, right?
It also helped me so I have to thank you for posting your problem.

No problems with BMS at all here, and I'm using Win7 64 as well. But the difference might be that I have Oblivion installed outside of Program Files\(...) - or Program Files (x86)\(...) in fact.

Take a look at the latest http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19772. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with this plugin.

Its a matter of identifying the issues with it. As far as my experience goes, it can seriously change how sounds play, even after it is removed. That was why I didn't associate the audio issues with the plugin and thought it was something else.

Knowing that audio issues come from it, even after it is uninstalled, helped me fix the issues I was having (like setting WinXP compatibility mode and waiting for audio to "stabilize" after a while).

Right now, the only thing that I cannot fix is the 6-10 frame drop I get from using it with a lot of other mods that are also demanding (graphics replacers, mostly)

That's great if this thread helps out other people, too.

I set obse_loader.exe to compatibility mode, that did the trick for me... glad I helped!

I, too, had no problems with the enhanced music control until just the past week, and I don't know what caused the problem, up until then, I just had everything normal... weird...
