Better Redguards question...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:43 pm

I'm using Better Redguards along with Fantasy Figures and Robert's Male bodies and Cobl Races. I've used the latest BOSS and masterlist to sort my files. I've used the Redguard tweak in Wrye Bash for compatibility between Better Redguards and other mods. The body textures work fine, the face is the default Imperial face still. Everything is tagged according to BOSS's suggestions. Should I add or remove any other tags to Better Redguards? Am I missing something? I've tried using the reset option in the in-game facegen, I've tried all manner of load order and activating and deactivating it, etc.

Well, nevermind. I decided to try a Body-F tag as well (not mentioned in BOSS so I didn't add it the first time around) and it seems to work now. Guess I'll get in-game and see if the NPCs are also working right.

Did you reset the face-gen sliders when creating your character?

How would that effect the NPCs?

Ugh! It broke again. I don't know how I got it working the first time, but I rebuilt my bashed patch again (added Enhanced Economy back to my game) and now the bodies are Better Redguard, face is Imperial. Infuriating!

I've reset the sliders. I read every readme and googled the crap out of this before I asked here lol. I've tried changing my load order, keeping Better Redguards activated, etc. The only time it works is when I load it after my bashed patch, but then I lose all my hair, races, everything from Cobl Races. Hm. Any other ideas?

I don't know how it effects the NPC's, but it does. I can say that with certainty. Because when I first started using BR I didn't reset it, now I do and the NPC's are effected. Something with the engine, I guess.

My guess would be that even with the mod installed the game initially wants to use the default texture path, resetting the chargen face forces the game to use the new textures, and consequently fixes the NPCs at the same time. Of course I could be wrong.

Either way it's not happening in my game lol.

This is too much trouble, more than it's worth. I'm just going to uninstall Better Redguards, I have a sneaking suspicion Cobl Races is overriding it anyway. Since I can't figure any way to have BR take priority over Cobl Races and my body mods then I'm not going to worry about it. I guess.

Do you have the cobl cosmetic mod installed as well. I was just reinstalling cobl omod and it mentioned requiring that if you use races.

Yep, I had originally forgotten. Bald, empty eyed elves prompted me to get it installed lol.

I can't help but think it's the other cosmetic mods overriding it. Maybe I'll disable Cobl Races, I really only want the TNR part anyway.

SUCCESS! I tagged Better Redguards with Body-F, R.Ears, R.Head, R.Relations (I have no idea what it does but it starts with R. lol) and removed the NoMerge tag and left the default Deactivate tag. As a result it is now fully merged into my bashed patch and working perfectly. I also removed Cobl Races in favor of TNR (all but redguards, since TNR Redguards are already part of BR). I'm far too lazy to find out just which tag fixed the problem, though. Probably only R. Ears and R. Head.
