One of the very firsts issues I had with the plugin.
Do you remember how you fixed it?

dialogue only or any menu?
would you, kyoma and shadeMe, please try to use the vanilla mp3s only? some people had troubles with some mp3s...
i think this issue could be solved if someone would look at the source...

HawkleyFox released the source, but who requested this and who are the 21 people who downloaded it? may be someone is already working on it?
No, dialogue menu only. With vanilla mp3s only? Well I experienced the same problem with just EMC loaded, not even BMS (or any other OBSE plugin). And all my mp3s in my music (sub)folder(s) are from the vanilla game. I'm a bit at a loss as to what may be causing it and even though BMS is a great mod I'm reluctantly throwing in the towel. With my limited (non-testing) play-time and all. :(

The description says "requested by the OBSE creators". That's understandable - They encourage plugin creators to make their findings public.

Hey, thanks for the mod! I have yet to experience any sort of technical issues with BMS 2.0, but I have a simple feature question: why no custom playlist for the sewers? Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere.

I have followed this thread with interest, especially the discussion with EMC and stuttering. I currently have EMC and Immersive Combat Music installed, but not BMS. I'm still on WinXP 32-bit, and I do not know which MP3 codec or codecs I have presently installed. I will check that later on with that free InstalledCodec tool. I'm intrigued about the stuttering some people are experiencing.

My impression is I do not have that stutter. The music is always fine. However, if I stand still where there are cobblestones in front of me like inside the IC, the IC bridge to Weye or inside Chorrol, so when I stand still I do get something like a very brief but noticealbe ripple or buzz in the picture. I thought it might have to do with the Bomret textures I'm using but now I believe it might be EMC related (or codec related). Could that be? This ripple is definitely not the common load-related stutter.

Thanks for a brief comment, if you could.

you can use the Power of Music to asign a custom playlist in the sewers...

i don't know. please run a test without EMC and you will get the answer...

Uhmmm... yes... I could have thought that of myself... :angel: Sorry for that.

So I tested a little bit, and the short version is: my visual ripples / buzzes / vibrations are not related to EMC, nor to the Bomret textures. I now presume it has to do with the anti-aliasing that I force-apply via the ATI graphics drivers. I'll keep testing some more. Next time I'll come up with something less off-topic.... :embarrass:

Artifacts caused by texture filtering and/or optimizations. Try disabling the optimizations in the driver control panel.

Two questions. If I "disable" combat detection in the Ini does that mean I'll never get combat music, or it'll start even before I'm aware combat happens.

Also is there a setting that renables Psychic Combat Music (for lack of a better term)? I have enough trouble with combat even with the premonitiant (Psychic) stuff going.

Now that's weird. There seems to be some massive tearing (if not a complete removal via tear) With Farguyel Village and the ESM of BMS. I tested it a few times seemed to come back when I disable the the ESM and BMSElseweyr. (I've got The Fargyel Compat patch with Elsweyr btw) Though when i used the BMS ESP I got no tearing here is my list I think it's only active at the moment.

It seems to remove the Entirety of the Faregyl Inn when the ESM is active. Though it leaves the rest of the town Untouched 'cept maybe for the Wayshrine, though the wayshrine may have been there.

yes, you completely disable battle music.

now that i think about it, i could implement such a user setting...

your faregyl problem... i don't really know what you mean. could you explain exactly what happens? i don't even know that faregyl...

Well I have http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21562 by uh ... Arthmoor which also has a compat patch with Elsweyr, but basically what happened was, I loaded up one of my characters who were in the area (Faregyl Village), and turned back towards the main road that was in the vanilla game, and there was a huge tear in the landscape, I then noticed that Faregyl Inn (the inn that the town was based, it's down a side road in the vanilla game, that isn't on the big map) was gone 'cept for the door, and a shrine of someone was missing all but the outer circle. Yet the rest of the town seemed untouched, (I didn't wander back into the town.) it was weird, I'll get a screenshot and show you what I mean. (also i did disable The Faregyl Village Mod and it's patch but I still had the weird tear when the BMS.esm was activated)

Here we go. This is the best way I can explain it (I'm not the best at translating thoughts into words.)

thank you for reporting this. the esm file was unclean and i hope your issue is caused by this. so please update...

a new version is online.

it is only useful if you need the
recent changes:
- BetterMusicSystem is a master now so other mods can access it for custom music
- you can disable the battle music completely OR the enhanced combat detection only

Did you update the Elsweyr or just the main ESP? I re-downloaded and reinstalled it and the original ESP and I still got the tear while using Elsweyr, trying the ESP itself now.

I wandered a bit, I'm thinking it for some reason doesn't like the Ayleid ruin tileset, I noticed another tear near Woodland Village from Shezries Villages (COBLized) centered around the Ayleid ruin there Ceyatatar... gone check the area around a few other Ayleid Ruins.


Huh not sure if this caused by your mod anymore, but Cheydenhal's gone... like the ground and the inside of the city. ... most of the bad tears seem to be centered around Ayleid ruins though

sounds really weird. i guess you have to disable/enable every single mod to narrow this down. does simply disabling the esm still fix this??

both, the BMS master and the elsweyr plugin are clean. no cell changes or worldspace stuff...

Yeah that's the weird thing, if I disable the ESM (and by route the Elsweyr one using Wrye Bash) It works fine, and the regular ESP causes no problems. I'll try that Disabling all but the required for the mod later and see if I can narrow it down.

EDIT:
So I just made a new character Ran through the dungeon, and came out, and suddenly nothing was right, I hit the sewer exit and the water dock and everything was gone that load order was only the following

On top of that I also have DarN UI though I don't think that could screw up land and such but maybe.

A possible cause for stuttering I discovered. It probably has nothing to do with it, but none the less, an important issue I think.

For some reason, all mp3's are not the same. Different bit rates, different sample size, different codecs, etc.
I discovered that while you can just drop mps's into the music folder, the game engine does not always play them all.

I was reading up on voice file creation and learned about the http://www.nch.com.au/switch/mp3.html program.
Converting mp3's to mp3's with this program appears to have corrected whatever was causing the game to not play some files.

The program is free. maybe using it will fix the stutter problems some people are having...

As to the music mp3's, I set my converter for Constant bit rate of 128bit.
The 128 bit setting will reduce the file size if you are converting higher or variable bit mp3's. It may impact the overall quality of the mp3, but for game play, it's barely noticeable.

Eh maybe I did get the old one, did you update the one under "Optional Files" on TESnexus for Elsweyr, cause when I dled that one it still had the ESM in with the Elsweyr ESP. and the 2.1 one had the BMS esp in it (again from TESnexus.) I'll try again soon it might have just been some weird cache glitch.

Got it working, now to play with in ernest... gotta figure out how get my Rivershack house to get music though the spell doesn't work... probably need a phonograph and set it up in the house. not sure how MTC set it up.

yeah "YouAreHere" reads the interior of the Rivershack house as a Fort Ruin, and it always goes to /empty/silent.mp3
