[RELz] BetterMusicSystem 2.0

the spell should work in any interior cell. what does the messagebox tell you?

Sorry I stated that poorly, I mean I can cast the spell and all the options come up but none of them change the music for the interior sell of the Rivershack from MTC Rivershack and Village mod ... I think the same shack is included in Better Cities Bravil. It seems to only want to play the 'silence.mp3' in the "Empty" folder that gets added

Hi ... sorry, but since I've not kept up with this and was going to give it a go again - what is the use of the esp in the extra folders?

I'm assuming it is not required - that is why it is in the extra folder. The Readme said nothing about it. Hence my asking here.

thanks

Is that then for resolving load order conflicts?

If so any known reasons to be using it?

if not then what is it for?

there are no load order conflicts with BMS. this is impossible.

the esp is just for cosmetical use. for people who don't want to use a master.

So yeah I'm hopeless, how do I keep it from defaulting to empty/silence.mp3 the spell like I said, casts, and lets me select everything but the music never changes in that River Shack cell... seems like I own the cell judging by the spell pop up.

if you own a cell the spell will change the music for ALL cells you own! to change a single cell use the emerald!

the silence.mp3 is used by the pause feature. if this is printed to the console the pause is active. just press resume and enjoy your custom music...!

Speaking of the Emerald, and I'm sorry for posting here so much, I can't find the chest on the dock at the Prison exit anymore, this is on a pre-existing character, what's the item ref to add it to add the emerald, the ring, and the phonograph to my invetory?

Ohh, I had no idea you were that busy. I mean, I knew you were having a headache with the Elsweyr Plugin but it seems to be working just fine, hence why I figured out you had squashed all bugs and were no longer busy. Thank you for the confirmation! ^^

... and now I feel bad that I'm bringing up stuff again but. I was wondering how it sorts the folders and stuff, I got a song in the Elsweyr folder finally and it worked when I first ported there, but when I walked into Corinthe the music stopped and pressing unpause didn't start the music up again. (alt+. right? You might wanna mark down the in game hotkeys in the read me, I didn't know what the pause/unpause button was until I looked in the ini.) The same lack of music still plagues that house from MTC RiverShack and Village near bravil. Again pressing the unpause command (when i remembered it at the time) didn't bring music up and it defaulted to the pause feature empty/silence.mp3, though it could be a side effect of "YouAreHere."

yes, take the ini as a part of the readme because every user MUST edit it at least for the playlists.

the cities belong to their own worldspace and play public music. you can change this with the spell.

if you get the silence.mp3 even after pressing resume you most likely use an empty folder for this cell. note that some mp3s may not be recognized correctly by the game. if you own the rivershack an have 'homes' enabled it will play home music. try to assign another playlist with the spell.

enable the debug mode and post the console log from that moment you enter the house.

here it is. :)

i mainly use film scores or scores from games:

10.000 BC, 300, End of Days, Harry Potter, Prince of Persia (Two Thrones), King Kong, Gladiator, Alien, The 13th Warrior, Lineage II, Crouching Tiger - Hidden Dragon, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Silent Hill 2, Day of the Dolphin, Fable II, Dune, Shrek, Harry Potter, Deep Blue Sea, Horse Whisperer, Meet Joe Black, The Name of the Rose, Brother of Sleep, Braveheart, The Mexican, The Shining, Da Vinci Code, ... and of course: Lord of the Rings!

artists: Loreena McKennitt, Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerard, Edvard Grieg... especially Thomas Newman (Oscar and Lucinda, Green Mile, American Beauty...)

i also downloaded all the music packs from the nexus which are full of nice but untitled music.

i don't use every track from every sound track but i use many tracks for different playlists. this highly depends on taste so you have to sort if for your needs...

special playlists:
mountain regions and bruma: skandinavian folk music i found on www.last.fm
gold cost and anvil: mediterranean music (like Captain Corelli's Mandolin)
Blackwood: native american music
Leyawiin: mainly the weird acoustic instrumental blues tracks from the Green Mile
Oblivion: Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works II

:)

For Oblivion planes I may try adding this entire CD by Current 93: http://www.amazon.com/Faust-Current-93/dp/B00004Z36A sounds like a thousand demons whispering in your ear and they combines to make the sounds of yelling and moaning. More subtle than that description though - it can trance you out if your into that kind of thing.

For some of the best indigenous and folk musics that are almost soundtracks and that don't teeter on the edge of commercial pop whimsy the label http://www.ecmrecords.com/Startseite/startseite.php is amazing.
While they mainly do jazz and avante garde titles many many titles utilize instruments of old and sparse arrangements that are great for this kind of thing.
Particularly, for me right now, http://www.ecmrecords.com/Catalogue/ECM/2000/2063.php?lvredir=712&cat=%2FArtists%2FMicus+Stephan%23%23Stephan+Micus&catid=0&doctype=Catalogue&order=releasedate&rubchooser=901&mainrubchooser=9 he did one title where he recorded the resonance of giant carved stones in a cathedral (they were very large instruments brought in not part of).

If you live near a big city you are likely to find many ECM cds at your library.

Which debug mode? Toggle Debug Text, or that one in the magic numbers in the ini? And also how do I grab the Console log, I'm not much of a modder, only very simple things ... and UESP Wiki is being a tad unhelpful when it comes to finding how to log the console.

Okay so I had it work once. Cast the Music Change spell as soon as I entered and it registered the new music list. but I left to Tamerial came back in and hit ALT+. and instead of playing the New playlist I had just set with the spell it went back to the music/home. Here's the log I think that's from the just done log. the Is Forest? is from the "YouAreHere" mod...

I figure I'll need to turn off custom songs for homes if I want it to save what I change it to.

As for the Elsweyr problem, I meant the Open-city part of Corinthe, though now it uses Explore, I can't get it to play the Elsweyr region music again, even when I'm wandering around the Helkern Land and the other desert wilderness parts of Elsweyr, I'll get a log of that later, if it helps though I only got one song in there currently Do I need at least two for it to use the Seperate Region folder?

EDIT 2: Actually gonna try something seems the song I was using was at a higher bitrate than the rest of the music in the music folders, gonna give the game a shot in elsweyr and see if it can read it.

EDIT 3: Yep that got it... though now I need a second song hmm .. songs need to be 192 kbps

Hi side777

I have two questions...

Is it possible to add custom music to a single cell using your mod? I would like to add custom music to a few chapels.

Also, I use Morroblivion and was wondering if you had any plans to release the optional plugin for it? If not, is there
a tutorial I could follow to create the plugin myself? I have pretty decent CS skills.

thanks

I just downloaded 2.1 to upgrade from an older version.

I'm a bit confused. The new version has an .esm instead of an .esp, but am i supposed to delete the .esp from the old version?

Why does 2.1 have an .esp in a folder called Extra? It's not mentioned anywhere in the documentation.

In fact there seems to be documentation missing!

readme.html says this ">> if you are upgrading from version 1.x please refer to upgrade.txt!!"

There is no upgrade.txt in the archive.
