Between these two guns witch one would you use?

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 11:05 pm

Weapon one: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=578040924

Weapon two: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=578040855

As configured with the exception the hunting rifle can have the recon scope.

Back to the original question. Between those two which weapon would you rather use and why?

Hunting rifle. Pipe weapons look like they'd blow up in your face. I just don't use them.

The hunting rifle, pipe weapons are like that $3 army knife that each tool piece either breaks or barely does what its supposed to.

Never use pipe weapons! I scrap or sell them! :) So yea, definitely go for the .50 cal Hunting sniper rifle and add a long recon scope, when you get a chance.

I don't mind pipes for their looks, but they are simply weak. I only use the to save ammo.

Pretty sure I've never fired a pipe weapon. It's an aesthetic choice.

If you snipe a lot, the sniper rifle, if you want to keep your weight down the pipe one.

The sniper rifle does a bit more damage and has better firing rate, also an larger magazine its however pretty heavy, perhaps too heavy if you don't use it much.

Look also matter here as they are pretty close.

Neither. There are tons of much better weapons to choose from.

If i remember correctly, the pipe rifle gets more shots in vats. Helps when they are running up on you obviously. Another selling point is that it 10 pounds lighter. Up to you. I actually had the same problem you did but ended up using the pipe rifle because it had a good legendary perk on it while my hunting rifle had a crappy one.....and I'm OCD about picking up everything that isn't nailed down so the extra 10 pounds is nice.

Now i shall blow your minds.

The pipe Bolt action is the better choise. It's 10 weight lighter and the damage difference really can't be noticed. it'll take the same amount of shots fired to kill the enemies anyway.

I personally dislike the look and feel of Pipe Weapons and so only use them as long as I need to ( I have one nostalgia fueled exception to this rule, but it doesn't apply here). The Hunting Rifle based Sniper isn't bad, at least until you hit later in the game and can get something better. The deal breaker for me is the idea of using the comparatively rare and expensive .50 ammo in a *#&$@ PIPE weapon. I just can't do it. It would be like putting a $2,000.00 sound system into a '73 Gremlin. It's just....wrong.....on every conceivable level.

Definitely that hunting rifle. Better damage, and slightly faster firing rate.

A fully modded Hunting Rifle in .50 caliber is the standard sniper. All you can get that's better is something with a Legendary perk. Mine does 50%+ Damage to Super Mutants but it's academic most of the time. Head shots rule the day.

The Pipe Rifle can be modded very close to the Hunting Rifle but the Hunter has better damage.

None of them....

I don't like pipe guns, personal taste, but they are meh :D

The rifle is better when chambered for .308 instead of .50 CAL. Reason being, I can squeeze out 3-4 shots with the .308 in the time it takes the .50 CAL to fire one, recover from recoil, rechamber a round, home in on target again.....Same reason why I take a combat rifle over hunting rifle any day in this game.

If you want to use a weapon with .38 ammo, just mod combat rifle, that looks better.

Pretty well all big snipers in the world are bolt action. The .50 is just fine as a sniper and works great. A combat rifle in .308 requires 4 points in Gun Nut among other things. A very useful midrange weapon for sure.

Oh I'm aware of that, wasn't doubting that. It is just in this game, the slower .50 cal lets enemies close faster since you can't get off as many shots, unless you pick them off ? a mile away. I can one-shot legendary deathclaw just fine on survival with .308 with the perks I have, so there is no reason for me, personally, to chamber it in .50 cal that is way slower. Even the .308 hunting rifle works better overall than the .50 cal in my opinion. Rate of fire is king when facing more than 2+ enemies or just one tough one you need to put a lot of bullets into fast. Anyways, just my personal taste, and people should play how they want :)
