When i searched on google about removing this illness, i found another gamer have lose 1 strength point...

So i don't know if this is a bug or wanted, but be careful...

Don't take followers with you in vault 81 quest, don't enable protectron or hack it...

Save before and after each attack...

I think you're only supposed to lose HP if you give the cure to the boy.

What is the Vault 81 quest?

Ive been there multiple times but only ever got a few middling tasks from the doctor and a request for 3 x fusion cores.

Are there more quests to get from there, whom do I speak to?

Speak to a little girl, can't remember her name. She wants you to find her cat, that quest starts a quest chain within Vault 81. Its quite good, you should do it.

Do you have any addictions going on? Maybe that is whats dragging your special stat down. If not it might be a bug.

Ah the cat, I thought that might have some significance to something as every time I've been in its wandered off and someone has commented.

I'll have a look tonight cheers.

No the op is right I have the mole rat disease, and you do loose 1 point off a special stat, but with no level cap don't see that it will matter

Mine was only -10hp, but I took the cure and that fixed it right up. I guess getting a disease and then giving away the only cure to someone else should kinda have an effect on you.

Yeah, I also gave away the cure and only lost 10 hp. You guys losing stat points are either experiencing a bug or have something else going on.

I tried to help, I risked my life to help that stupid kid who went exploring somewhere he didn't need to go. I fought off molerats, I single handedly went into an abandoned and potentially very dangerous situation to find the cure. At the end, after I got infected with some lifelong disease because of trying to help, I decided I had sacrificed enough, and my longterm health was not going to be another sacrifice.

Good luck Timmy, let this be a harsh lesson to everyone in that vault, random strangers don't owe you or your dumb kids anything.

But seriously, I just wanted that 10hp back.

So there's no way to cure the mole rat disease if you gave away the cure? Ever?

I just lost the 10 hp but still, it svcks to know that your character is doomed to have mole rat disease forever.

I knew it!

You used to be such a nice person, before the war. Doting over little Shaun, spinning his mobile for him...

Now look at you - you've become a monster, stealing teddy bears and gumdrops from children.

The wasteland is indeed a harsh mistress.

I bet you blew up Megaton as well, eh? :ahhh:

PS: just out of, you know, idle curiosity... did that piss off the Vault 81 inhabitants? Did they still give you a nice wee room with clean pillows to lay your head on?

It's ok.

Like any chronic illness you learn to cope with it, and you adjust your lifestyle and diet to accommodate it.

And remember - you have molerat disease. It doesn't have you.

Be strong, we're here to support you. :hugs:

Plus, think about the actual effect. I have a low endurance character to begin with, and that 10hp is something like 4%. I've been taking perks in Life Giver to make up for it, and now maxed it out so my health slowly restores. If I find myself in a situation where I die and that 10 hp would have saved me, I'll let you know.

My thoughts exactly. If 10hp ever makes the difference between surviving and not surviving a fight, I've got bigger problems than Molerat Disease.

I have no idea, they all seem friendly enough, they constantly remind me how bad I am for letting him die but they will trade with me and all that. I don't have a room that I am aware of but I left right after that mission so I am unsure if I will be able to go back and do something else to get it.

Yup, I don't think I have gotten down to below 10hp yet but I have definitely gotten quite low. I think your HP increases with level so it is a much bigger handicap for low level characters, once you level up quite a bit then it isn't that serious really. The lost stat point however would be missed, being a whole level behind if you decide to bring it back up would get annoying.

Yup, I too only suffered the -10 hit points to total HP. Funny thing is, I did not even become infected with Mole Rat disease until I left vault 81 after finishing that quest, and happened upon a den of other mole rats, go figure!

I was reading, and it is possible to get through the quest without contracting the disease as long as you don't get hit by any mole rats. If you're wearing a full set of power armor, you can get hit exactly one time without contracting it. (Another hit will give it to you.) Additionally, if you have a companion and they get hit, you'll contract it. If you activate the Protectron inside and it gets hit, you'll contract it.

But if you go through without getting hit in any of those scenarios, you can avoid the disease if it bothers you that much.

After quick saving and re-loading parts of the game probably 30 times, I finished that stupid quest without contracting the disease. It was one of the longest quests in my Fallout history! LOL And yes, I can confirm that when the protectron gets hit, the player will also be infected by the disease. I contracted it several times and there was NO molerat anywhere near me. I didn't know at the time that it was because of the Protectron, but thought it to be a weird bug or glitch.

Thank goodness I actually read about this disease before hand. And sure -10 HP isn't really much, but I just like to have a "clean" PC! :D

That's interesting. Before I did the quest, I read upon giving the cure to the boy you permanently loose 10 hp. But after completing it I never lost any health. At the speech check I did suggest splitting the cure, but the doctor wouldn't have it. No idea if that helps. But can't say I took enough notice of my SPECIAL points to see if I'd lost any.

I understand that 10 HP isn't much, but I'd like to be free of the disease for RP reasons!

Just use the cure, let the kid die. I could have reloaded my save over and over and tried to game the quest but I am not that crazy, just take the cure, problem solved, everyone wins (except the kid)
