Beyond Skyrim and similar projects

Just curious about Beyond Skyrim, Skywind, and Skyblivion projects, or any similar projects.

Are any of these big projects close to fruition, meaning somewhat close to releasing any playable content?

After looking at the websites for these, most posts seem at least 6 months old or older, and not very active, and releases seem years away , and as time goes on, interest will probably dwindle.

A lot of these projects are long-term projects.

http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/, a landmass expansion project for Morrowind, began many many years ago, before the release of Oblivion - and is still going strong, albeit slowly. With projects of this size, team members (and leaders) come and go, but as long as there's interest in the community, progress will be made.

They're a labor of love for the mod makers, who do this in their spare time - of course a release is the desired plan, but many just enjoy the process, and are in no hurry to get a public release out there - they understand that a polished release will take a long, long time.

Beyond Skyrim plans on having the area surrounding Bruma released by this spring.

Skywind and Skyblivion are both progressing by leaps and bounds, but Skywind is closer to completion. There is a lot of activity but much of it is not shown on the forums. There are a lot of development videos you should check out, but I won't link to them here per forum rules. It will definitely be released.

As far as Beyond Skyrim goes, I am betting that they will release some very good chunks of work, like Bruma, but most of the project won't see a release, at least not for quite a while. They are all very talented though, I must say. I hope they prove me wrong!

What I was trying to say is it depends on your meaning of "close to fruition". Many of these projects will see staggered releases (Skywind/Skyblivion have been available in alpha versions for quite a while), but completely finished versions of projects this size take a long time.

If you're waiting for a final release - don't hold your breath, grab a beta or join the team and help out making the mod!

Beyond Skyrim is certainly not inactive. Well, some provinces are, like Valenwood and Morrowind. Those were put hiatus, due to there only being one or two people working on them. But it looks like Morrowind might be up and running again soon. Cyrodiil, High Rock and Hammerfell are active, however. And Cyrodiil will indeed release Bruma and the Jerall Mountains sometime in April/May this year. I encourage anyone who feel like they can contribute in any way to join us. And if you've never modded Skyrim before, then that fine, we'll teach you (when I first joined, I had very little experience in exterior design and now I'm "Environmental Director" for Cyrodiil.). Cyrodiil is currently in need of level designers (exterior designers, specifically) and armor/weapon modelers and creature modelers. But we'll accept anyone.

That's probably because most of the progress happens in the private forums, which are only visible to project members. I'll bring it with the other project members and the admins that we should open up our forums more, so people actually can see the progress we're making.

EDIT:
We also have a Twitter and a Facebook page that we update regularly.
