BGS Celebration For Skyrim?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:59 am

It takes four years to make a trailer? Todd said as far back as august that "there's a lot of game there to play". That was half a year ago. What's taking so long?

Be patient, there is still 9 months left before release date. In that time we will see plenty of screenshots, and likely gameplay as well. Getting all worked up over it won't do you any good. relax and be cool :disguise:

Oh yeah, and delious cupcakes..and Killmoms is back. what kind of cupcake you get..

Am I the only one getting an eerie feeling that we will see some kind of gameplay soon? In a trailer form?

Killmoms seems to pop up a lot. Don't take it the wrong way :D we love seeing you guys here and its fine to take a break, but I'm just looking into it too much. Don't mind me... :sadvaultboy:

Typical trailers take about a year to make. But frankly it has nothing to do with a trailer, they already said it was cell testing.

... Okay, you've just removed a layer of ignorance off me. :P

Wasn't thinking there's no work to it, but a year ? Damn !

I think they talk about the Creation Kit version of the CS World Testing:

Given that it was a test on every cell...was this perhaps a test of the AI behavior for the entire gameworld?

Wolves hunting, mammoths moving around, travellers travelling, dragons dragoning, and etc.

Yanks4champs asked pete on twitter what he meant and he said.........." Think of it like an auto routine that checks 10k areas of the game for any issues."

Sounds good!

When you test something, it's usually to find bugs. He's just saying they tested every cell in the world and didn't come across any bugs/crashes.

Cells are game spaces. The insides of buildings are separate cells. In Oblivion, cities were even their own separate cell. Cells are ways to divide up the world so that it reduces the strain on the system so that it doesn't struggle to load the thousands of items and render the building simultaneously. So they were testing how everything worked within the cells of the game.

It was a cupcake taste test, apparently.

They did something, perhaps a stress test or perhaps a game play mechanic, in every cell in the Skyrim game world. What this reveals though is that the geography is probably mostly complete at this point.

Now all they gotta do is glue the cells together and we got ourselves a game! :celebration:

I can say very definitively that the cupcakes were, indeed, delicious.

So since the cupcakes are delicious, the progress with Skyrim is the same I take it?

So its an auto routine that checks "10k areas" of the game. So going by that the world should be pretty complete and very functional.

So it's either they have the whole world built and they haven't found any major bugs, or they got the 1st combat video done and it looks excellent enough that they eat cupcakes in celebration. Maybe if we ask nicely somebody might give us a minor clue that doesn't give it away but is intriguing like Cupcakes. :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie:

The milestone celebration today has nothing to do with combat videos or any videos. It has to do with successful cell testing.

Well then I assume the game will be Bug-free by release, seeing as you have time to sit and eat cupcakes at work, when you infact should be working! If the game gets delayed I will moan and [censored] about this very quote and hold it over your head untill you apologize!

And by the way, its such a rookie mistake to post things like this on internett. You should never ever tell your customers, co or business companies that you eat cupcakes at work. Its a rookie mistake and we hate to see it.

Am i joking? Yes. Mostly yes. Who knows? I guess we will find out on 11.11.11?

Pete just took to twitter and said..."Just had a yummy cupcake at a little BGS celebration of an internal milestone (of sorts) for Skyrim. I went with coconut. It was awesome."

Why are they celebrating you ask? This is why they are celebrating..."A successful type of test of every cell in the world."

What exactly does that mean? Successful test of every cell in the world?

It means that every cell in the game is working and hooked together, for instance interior cells are connected with teleporters to the corresponding spot on the exterior cell and vice versa. Basically the game world has been built they just have to polish it.
