BGS Doesn't Work On Skyrim On Weekends?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:04 pm

Pete just said on twitter "Ok, it is really cold out today. Gonna have to find lots of inside stuff to do today once we are done with a few errands."

Do they at least have a small staff that works weekends?

Why would they? It's not really mandatory for a game developer to have to be working on a game 7 days a week. They might work on Saturdays or Sundays but it isn't really necessary unless they want people working on the game on weekends to meet their deadline which doesn't seem to be a worry at this point which bodes well for the quality of the game.

Ummm... If a business isn't a front-end non-commercial customer sale/service, odds are it isn't open on weekends.

Retail and such? Sure.

Offices? Not likely. I don't think they'll be going into crunch time until maybe July.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they get a day off to actually see their family and take care of their personal lives. Sometimes they even get to take their vacations.

I would imagine creativity is best when well rested.

Why should they work weekends, it's game development, not the emergency services or an intensive care unit...

Well, Actually, at least those who work on the plot, DO work weekends. Because even when their off doing other things their likely coming up with new ideas and how to implement them. Give the guys a break. Creativity comes best when given a resting period, as one loses the ability to form abstract thoughts when focusing on the matter at hand.

I would not be suprised if they started working weekends and all-nighters once they got closer to release to polish the game up though, but that won't come until later.

This. I like the vibe I am getting from developers so far. Like they really got everything they wanted into the game before even announcing it, and now have time to polish it to perfection.

Most likely they only work weekends when crunch time is on.

Or they may be like some other companies, assign everybody some work over the week, and say "once you get it done, you're done for the week."

Yea in the podcast I like how todd said "everybody is really in their groove with the game". Sounds good to me.

I would be more glad about this than worried, because it means the game is right on track and a delay isn't likely.

Why would they be working weekends 10 months from release when there isn't even any pressure built up? Maybe when there is just a few months left of development time and they're behind schedule. They aren't just having people work weekends on a normal schedule.

Considering how nice the office is, i'd say everyday is like a weekend to them. Heck maybe going back to spouses on an "S" day is more a weekday to them lol.

What? You're telling me they aren't working 24 hours a day 7 days a week?!

What has the world come to, soon we'll hear about people sleeping and eating instead of working as well.

Pete is just saying that to throw you off. In reality, they've been doing nothing but watching Youtube for the past year.

This thread is rather silly, why would they post this sort of thing, everyone has to have some time off, it doesnt effect the quality of the game what so ever. From the news thats been given to us I think we need to cut these guys some slack :)
